I started coming to Divine Machine in January specifically to get work done by Chad Grohman, a custom tattoo on my forearm. The only tattoo experience I had before was two tats done in the living room of a friend 30-some years ago. Since January I have been back 4 times and thrilled with everything about my experiences - love Chad as an amazing artist and really kind, thoughtful person who makes every session fun! Plus, I love the shop itself - kind of like a maze with incredible tattoo art on every wall, nook, and cranny. It's clean with a friendly vibe. All the artists are so talented and cool - I want tattoos from all of them! What's an annual Buffalo trip in mid-December without a little tattoo to take home with you? It's nothing. That trip would be nothing without the tattoo... So there seem to be an abundance of tattoo shops in the Buffalo area, all fairly close by each other. There was another shop doing a flash event, but I chose to lead the boys to a different spot that I'd hoped took walk-ins and wasn't as busy. This was the spot. The guys at this shop were top-notch. Super friendly and easy to talk to. I talked shop and music with them for a bit before getting a rad flash book to go through as I had no idea what I really wanted. My boys were not as savvy with the tat experience butter guys at Divine Machine made it easy for them. Pertaining to walk-ins, it seemed a little hectic, as they were just like "okay, you want this or that design? We'll find someone to do it." I'm definitely used to a bit more of an organized situation where I'm gonna know the artist before we just do the damn thing, but all these artists seemed to know be solid with American traditional so it all worked out. I was told this place was great! Well they gave me another embarrassing tattoo... I can't express to you how upset I was and embarrassed... I had this ugly HUGE tattoo on my side and would end up buying one piece swim suits to cover up the embarrassment. The artist didn't care... rushed it and then charged me out the ass for it. I felt very pressured... a few years later I finally got the guts to get the horrible tattoo covered up. I was terrified to go to another artist since the gig from divine tattoo scarred me... also on top of it he destroyed my skin... I now have scar tissue because of the tattoo he gave me . I would not recommend. This place. Make sure you do a lot more research before going to These artists that don't give a crap and only care about the $$. Such a bad vibe in this place. I showed what I wanted to one guy, who said he could do but then handed off to Zach , which flat out said "no" I won't do it. No suggestion on what he could do, didn't work with me, just no. So I simplified it a bit , and was open to suggestions, I told them it didn't have to be exactly how it was drawn. After it was simplified , he kind of just complained about having to do it, and basically came off as a tool TBH. Strike three is when I quickly pulled up yelp and saw a bunch of complaints about Zach. And I ran out as fast as I could. Went somewhere else , and it was great. So glad I went with my instinct. Today was my first time going. The shop was very clean and had a really cool interior. The staff there were very nice. I had to wait a little longer than I would've liked (I was a walk-in on a Sunday so I really can't complain about it.) And most importantly, Jae did a great job on my tattoo. If you're looking for a real tattoo made by some of the most talented tattoo artists in the city, go here. Really clean and nice tattoo shop. Corey Cudney is a talented artist in a variety of media. Huge waiting list, but if you're looking for portraits, I've heard him referred to as the "photocopier". They look exactly like whatever picture you choose. Chris Allen is another extremely talented artist. His style is very realistic but can be extremely creative. He can incorporate many ideas and come up with original tattoo designs that you never even thought of. Don't be intimidated, go in and check out their portfolios, they may be pretty busy working but set up an appointment to talk to them if you're serious. You'll be paying by the hour and depending on what you want, may cost many sessions. They're skilled at what they do. It takes time and patience for real artwork to be created. If you're looking to get your name tattooed or something equally lame go some place else. read more

I walked in here on a whim (no appointment) on a Monday afternoon. I was promptly greeted and able to chat with a woman called Kaitlin about my design. I wanted something simple- just a couple words on my side. She said she could free hand the lettering and asked me to come back in an hour in a half (no problem I ate a sub at a shop up the street.). When I returned there was a camera crew from Spike TV that was doing a bit about a kid that had won a video game contest and was going to drive a race car in England. The guy was a really skinny dude who was getting a tattoo of the race track in England on his chest. I was impressed with my ability to find a place so legit they were on TV out of all the shops in Biffalo they could have picked. Everyone there was friendly and chill. My tattoo came out awesome and I simply adore it. It was also cheaper then the tattoo I got 10 years ago. It wasn't a complicated design but the price was lower then I expected. I recommend NO ONE to get tattooed by Zach Zahn at Devine tattoos. I have never experienced such horrible customer service or gotten a tattoo this terrible.The tattoo I wanted was very simple: the outline of an ice cream cone. Zach told me he could not make the tattoo as small as I wanted even though I have seen multiple tattoos of this kind that are much smaller, and have much finer detail, done by other artists. He was rude the entire time and made me feel like an inconvenience when I was trying to figure out where I should have the tattoo placed. The quality of the actual tattoo is HORRIBLE, as Zach couldn't even tattoo a straight line or align the scoops on my ice cream cone--EVEN THOUGH IT WAS STRAIGHT ON THE STENCIL. Mind you, I was being completely still throughout the entire process so it was not due to any shakiness. When the tattoo was complete, Zach rushed me out of there stating that he had another client. After seeing the terrible job he had done, I emailed him in a very professional manner addressing my concerns. He told me that he didn't appreciate my attitude (gave him no attitude) and that the reason the tattoo turned out the way it did was because "I was jittery and that "I was unsure of the tattoo the whole time" and told me that I could "come get my money back" because he did not "care to tattoo" me again. I never received an apology, and had the blame put on me. He gave me my refund, however, when I asked for my tip back he didn't give it to me. Sad, incompetent and unprofessional! Brrr. read more

When I didn't like my placement of the tattoo, he changed it for me right away and made sure I knew it was okay that I changed my mind. I went here with my friend as a walk in. I gave him a quote I wanted on my leg and he basically told me no- that my font didn't work with the placement. And when he made the stencil to show me, the artist left out a bunch of words at the end of the tattoo, so he obviously didn't even proof read what he did. I ended up walking out and getting exactly what I wanted and what I was told wouldn't work at a different shop. Also, they were openly talking about doing drugs and being on drugs in front of me and my friend. Very unprofessional. Since then I'm not sure if that artist is still there. I went back (unknowing that was the shop I walked out of previously) and I had a completely different experience. The artist I had was great, clean, professional, friendly. Overall my experience here wasn't terrible, and my tattoos were ok. My main problem is that I personally know many many people who have gotten tattoos done here for way less than what I was charged. I spent 180 on literally 2 words which took a total of 25 minutes from entering the shop to leaving. The quality was sufficient and I'm am not disappointed with the professionalism when it came to actually getting the tattoo, the shop is clean and pleasant, I just cannot justify walking back in there ever when I can get the exact same quality at the other tattoo shops I've frequented. You might ask why did I agree to pay that much? I wasn't told the hourly or price until the end and I'm not the type of person to throw a fit. I've been on a waitlist for a while and I've finally become a client of Christopher Allen. From the moment I walked in the door I felt welcomed which was a nice change. I've been in many shops where you either go ignored or get grilled making you feel awkward. These folks are friendly and professional. Chris took the time to discuss my options and design in detail so that we each have an understanding before the work gets started. What I was most impressed with was the method he used. He has a great touch, so I didn't feel like I was being dug into, and its healing really well. Prob the best healing piece I've ever had. After my session wss complete, Chris took the time to explain the healing process rather than just telling me how many times a day to wash and moisturize. Understanding it helps a lot. I can't wait for the next set if sessions. This is one shop that I'll continue to frequent as long as I'm living in the Buffalo area. read more

I just had a really little tattoo done here, just 3 words on my forearm. first, I'll say the artists were all pretty professional and the place seemed clean and nice. however, I felt like since I was only getting a tiny tattoo, they weren't SO concerned with making it amazing. I feel like their main clientele are people getting massive, hours worth of labor tattoos. which is cool but I wasn't. I almost felt like a girlfriend who's boyfriend doesn't hold open doors for her if that makes sense? they were really nonchalant about the after care, took like 10 seconds to do it, and almost made me feel like I wasn't that important. I have somewhat of an extensive experience with tattoo parlors since my friends think it's cool to drag me along and squeeze the shit out of my hand when they get theirs done so I know this place was pretty normal among tattoo places. They honestly did a good job I just feel like they could have done better with customer service, and since this was my first tattoo, I wanted to be babied a little which I guess doesn't happen even when you're paying them 60 dollars. read more

I just left the shop a few hours ago. I cannot speak highly enough of Noelle Lamonica. She is beyond professional and passionate for what she does. I only wanted a very small piece but she approached it with a sense of eagerness and importance that would make me consider returning for a larger piece. When I got to the shop Noelle already had stencils drawn for me. She had clearly put in a lot of thought and effort to this piece above and beyond what I had ever expected. I'm 67 and have been toying with the idea of getting a tattoo for 15 years. Couldn't decide what; couldn't decide where. Then a groupon came along and it propelled me to make an appointment. Everyone was so welcoming and no one dissed me because of my age. I was shown books of the artists' work and I chose Joel because I liked the crispness of his lines. He was fantastic. I took in some pictures; some that represented me; some of ideas I had for this rather large and prominent tat. Joel took what I brought him and after we talked so he could learn about me, he drew what is to me the perfect expression of who I am. The pictures I brought him were more masculine and he rejected that train of thought and came up with a very feminine version. On my way to the studio for my appointment I was talking to a man in line at the post office and when I mentioned where I was going he said, "Oh. They'll take REALLY good care of you." And they did. Other than the coldness of bare skin on a frigid day, I totally enjoyed the experience. NOT painful. NOT a long drawn out process. The music was a bit much but even that became part of the experience. and a blanket would've been nice but not required. By the time I got off the table (and got a hug from Joel) I was ready to sign up for another tat! My advice? Don't hesitate. Get your tat. You'll be happy you did. read more
