Definitely not a professional place. I had Brittany do my balayage. I talked to her before going and explained what I want and I booked my appointment. When I go there, she started asking people what she needs to do and it seemed no one else know well either and she mentioned couple of times as she was asking people that in the video I watched last night they did this... After sitting there for 4 hours when her work was done, it looked so so bad. She didnt even do balayage. it was just regular highlights which did not look good at all. She charged me $200 and I had to go somewhere else to redo her work. It was first time that I got bad complains from people! Dont recommend this salon at all. My hair dresser ERIN RILEY at Diverse Salon is the BEST! She is very attentive to your needs, takes her time with her clients, does an amazing job with color and highlights, and will always recommend the best care and products to use. If you're unsure of what you need, she has great ideas and recommendations and will even show you pictures of what she has done on other clients. I generally just highlight my hair blonde, but due to Erin's suggestions, I tried highlights with lowlights and a smoothing treatment last month and I absolutely love the results! My hair has never looked this good and I get complimented all the time. I've been through many salons and hairdressers and have only been satisfied by 3 people's work in the last 20 years. I brought my mom in and she's from Mexico so her hair has been box dyed and WAS in bad shape but Britta as she likes to go by is the person who did her hair she was awesome (there is two Brittanys) very kind to my mother and helped her choose a color that worked for her. I'll try to keep this short. Was referred her by my coworker becasue after having my child my hair fell out like crazy. Like complete balding. I go in and after waiting about 15 minutes past my consultation, Hareg sits me down and goes over my needs. Because my hair has fallen out so much we agreed on extensions, a trim, and an express keratin (which was nice of her not to charge me the whole amount since I did not have much hair to begin with). Hour and a half goes by and I'm out the chair feeling amazing. I schedule an appointment for 4 weeks ago to have it redone. Today, I get a call to confirm my appt for tomorrow. I've been waiting weeks to take out the 3 tracks which have grown out quite quickly to my surprise and starting to look funny. Yeah I'll be there! Especially after suffering through Easter until my appt. Not their fault as they were booked out when I made the appt originally after my cut but because I do not know how much growth I have, I was indecisive about having the tracks reinstalled along with the express treatment again (I'm naturally curly and was starting to worry about having to straighten my hair everyday, I don't want to lose my curls after cutting off like 6 inches). I can't remember the woman's name that called but she was incredibly rude. She stated I needed to call her by 4 today to let her know if I only want the tracks removed or if I wanted the whole thing done again, to which I told her I wouldn't know until the hair was taken out. I don't want to change my time frame to a lesser time and once they take it out realize I'm still crazy bald and there's no time to put them back in. There's no way I would know until the extensions were out. So here I am, anxious to finally get these tracks out at least because they look tired, then I get a call basically making me choose one or the other "because it's a business and me choosing a longer time for track removal is not how businesses work." I understand that time is money, but if you are so overbooked and I'm clearly telling you my time might be shorter, wouldnt you just say ok, I'll let the person know that's right after you that you might not take as long and that we can see them sooner than later." I don't understand how I could make a decision today that I would be happy with tomorrow without seeing my hairs progress. That was my first and definitely last time there. Hareg was quick and the braids she did did stay on for longer than I thought, but I cannot tolerate rudeness. Especially while I'm at work almost in tears because of this pushy women that basically just forced me out of my appt for someone that would pay more. I have a baby and don't have the means to up and go get my hair done/removed when I would like so now I'm basically SOL and have to find someone to get these tracks out. Definitely not the way you treat new customers. If you're not talking about spending $100+ you may get pushed out of the time slot you scheduled 4 weeks in advance. And honestly they only get 1 star because they had hair on site which was convenient since I needed some volume. read more

I highly recommend Diverse Salon for doing my hair. My stylist was Arlene who does an amazing job on dye touch up and styling my textured hair. I love the fact that she really listens to me! The price is very affordable for my budget. I received many compliments afterwards, and it's amazing how great I felt inside and out when I left the salon. I see Erin for all of my hair needs. I have long blonde hair down to my mid back and Erin does my color and cut perfectly every month. We have also done the amino fusion smoothing treatment which relaxes my curly hair and gets rid of my frizz, making my hair so much easier to style. Erin is very knowledgable about the products that are sold in the salon and she can find the perfect formula to make your hair as healthy as possible. I've also done quite a few facials with Parisa. They are so relaxing and I really enjoy the massage. The skin products she uses makes my skin look healthy and smooth. I always ask for a gift certificate for one of her facials for Mother's Day or my birthday. The new salon location is beautiful and everyone is always so friendly every time I come in. read more

I have reviewed Diverse before but have had another wonderful experience with another of the team here. I was considering having my 9yr old's hair braided. Dani at the front desk and I spoke what braids are like and about cost. I was then invited to bring my daughter by to meet Sesen and talk about the braids. All of this was never rushed. Sesen was so sweet and kind with my daughter. She explained about the hair, how long it would take, how we would care for the braids after. The day of the appointment and throughout she was offering breaks and asking if she was comfortable. My girl loves her braids! They were reasonably priced. I don't even know where to begin. I am so elated with this salon it's unreal. So first off, these ladies squeezed me in very last minute, and I live in santa Cruz, so that for me was a HUGE appreciated thing right off the bat, but SESEN is a MIRACLE WORKER, she took down a wicked busted ass sew in I had came in with, braided my hair down SO PERFECTLY, I mean I've never had my hair done like this before, the braids are small, it's even and most important NOT so tight that my scalp is in agony, it's JUST right. She left out the PERFECT amount of leave out just the way I like it done, and she was SO quick, with the braid down and the sewing, and never once did she knick me with the needle (which has happened many times before), lol, but on top of all this amazing skilled ground work, the ladies tried pretty darn hard to convince me to keep the hair I had in already and just add one bundle of there hair, so that off the bat proves how honest these women are and the integrity and passion they have for they're clients, such understanding, I've never experienced before, but me being quite OCD I opted for the 3 bundles of the hair they sell, 16,18, and 22? I think...., Anyways, I've never bought hair that felt that nice and looked so beautiful, it's 100% virgin hair and is so worth the price , which was about $300 and sum, which might sound steep for some, but I've spent thousands of dollars on hair and in my opinion none of it is as nice as this, it's the bomb, it's light,silky, blends great with my hair. I think I got Brazilian, but all in all, I've finally after so so so so long of searching for a hair salon/stylist I can trust?! My search is over. My hair dresser Amelia was fantastic. I am always nervous when getting my hair done, especially from someone who has never done my hair before. It was one of the best hair cuts and color I have ever gotten before. She was very very friendly, and carried on a conversation. More than happy each time I've been here, plus the new location gives the right look to their excellent work. Chatting with the receptionist is always fun and very helpful in product usage all the way to the newest trends...but I admit I do have my favorite. Although I've only been to Diverse 4 times, this is the only place I go, and Sesen is the one to request. I was upset and heading out of town for a wedding same day, but Brittany was able to fit me in. My hair looks SO much better and I am beyond happy! I love this salon! I've been coming here for a few years now and I plan on continuing to come. I love Danni (sp?) the receptionist because she always makes me feel special. Sesen does great job with extensions and always makes me feel beautiful. I've seen Erin and Alberto for coloring and cuts. Erin does and amazing job and Alberto literally takes you on a Hawaiian vacation, when he washes your hair. It's an award winning job- for reals. I just saw Amelia for the first time yesterday and I absolutely adore her. She listened to my very specific requests and followed through beautifully. She checked on me while I was under the dryer and stayed attentive throughout the lengthily process. That is HUGE in my book.
