We rented kayaks and they loaded them up in the van and drove us to the drop off point. It was a lovely day to float on the river with friends. Their base is located near the 30th street bridge, and offer transport to a couple launch locations around Rocky Ripple. This is a great group outing since the transportation is in passenger vans for 9-10(?) people. They offer single and tandem kayaks, along with standup paddle boards and canoes. I have only rented the single occupant vessels and I typically pay around $50 or so after taxes and such for 5 mile trips. I consider this pretty good value since they take care of all the logistics for you, then you and crew just show up. They have reduced rates if you have your own vessel, since they provide transport for that. I've been here on group outings organized by Frank's, but also We Walk Indy, Women Who Explore, and Pink Paddle Club have organized outings here. All the staff I've encountered over the years are super friendly. My most recent outing was their first public outing on Fall Creek. The conditions were quite nice and the guides on the trip were helpful in navigating the small rapids. You can be sure to find me here every now and again when the weather is right!

On my first visit the salesman was extremely helpful in taking me to the boats I had found on their…read morewebsite and wanted to see. He pointed out things wrong with two of the boats. One boat had some severe scape marks along a corner weld that I could not see from the photos. He advised me to keep looking and keep checking their inventory as it is updated daily, if needed, and usually they had additions to their pre-owned inventory weekly. But after two months of checking I'm not seeing much new inventory. On one of those two boats we opened the bow storage compartments and the stench of cat urine was overwhelming. The sales person said there was a family of cats living in it. Combined with a nasty scrape on the hull's corner weld the salesman said the boat would probably never sell. However, it did sell about a month later. I wanted to buy that boat and I was going to suggest they rip out the carpet to get rid of the smell. But I was too late, I guess. They should have offered to do it the day I was there looking at the boat. But really; how hard would it have been to fix that before we ever looked at the boat? I did a "Request Info" from their website for the towing weight of one of the used boats for sale from their pre-owned inventory. They did not answer my question, only invited me to come in to the showroom. Since it is an hour drive for me that was not an option to get the answer to my one question. I've since given up trying to purchase a boat. I'll just continue to rent them.

The guy who helped us and showed my son and his friends how to do auto-belay climbing was so chill and friendly and just a great overall human being. He made the experience so fun for my group of teens. I'm going to stop numbering now, and just talk about Climb Time. It's one of the smaller rock climbing gyms in the area, but it's my teen son's favorite, and he specifically wanted to come here for his birthday, because it's a little more challenging than some of the other rock climbing gyms. There's also a bouldering wall, which he loves. When you walk in, it feels very no-frills: Anyone who comes here really wants to climb. We stayed three hours (which was plenty for teen boys) and it was never crowded, but there were always one or two other people there who looked like they knew what they were doing. They came in, they climbed, and they left. Like I said, this is the place to climb if you love to climb and want a nice, no nonsense experience. I did not climb, but instead posted up on the lobby couch. They offer free wifi here, and I took advantage of that to get a little work done while the kids climbed. There's a small concession area with snack foods like granola bars, protein bars, chips, trail mix, beef sticks, string cheese and treats like M&Ms, Starbursts and cotton candy. There is also cold water for $1, and Monster Energy and Red Bull and protein drinks for $3. There isn't much else in terms of food, though.

The Nat is truly one of the best swimming facilities in the entire country…read more I attended a swim meet as a spectator and I was very impressed with the seating area/bleachers at the Nat. The bleachers are elevated over the pool deck, giving every seat a clear view of the racing. The floor and chairs are clean, with no trash or stains strewn about. I preferred sitting the stadium seating in the first few rows, but the bleachers are also pretty comfortable. However, there is not a bad seat in the house, especially when your team is winning! The restrooms near the facility are clean and organized, and they were well-stocked with hygiene products. The concession stand is unreasonably expensive, but that is common at most sports facilities. It offers a wide selection of chips, candy, bottled drinks, and fountain drinks, as well as other snacks like soft pretzels, nachos, and hot dogs. Keep in mind that the concession stand only accepts card, not Apple Pay or cash.

You're effectively supporting mom & pop venues from within our Hoosier state. I've asked all sorts of naïve questions. Let's say I now appreciate a thing called Arrowsmiths. There's a little bit of everything here. From the wonderful "YETI" brands (worth every penny) to the must haves & why nots. Beginning with the avid archer tidbits & upstairs range to various hunting blinds, a bonanza of fishing poles/lures if a peaceful catch suits your boat, very nice heavy duty safes to keep your guns/amino properly secure, outfits for all outdoor activities to attaining your appropriate Indiana licenses so the DNR folks stay happy. Don't let their size fool ya, it's way way way bigger on the inside. Plus there's a upstairs for kids, women, & men to practice their passion in archery. What? Yes it's quite fabulous.
