Buyer beware!! This is the worse internet provider. My internet has constantly been dropping for the last 3 months since October. I have been speaking to tech every 2 to 3 days to resolve this issue but no one know what they're doing. Going through the same process over and over again and they tell me that a technician will come to the house to fix the problem and no one shows up. This has happened 4x. I have asked for a manager to call me back on the issue. They refuse put me through and tell me the process is to open a ticket for a supervisor to call back but no one calls. I have tried 5 times to get a hold of a supervisor. They sent me a new Modem without telling me and disconnected my modem. The modem did not arrive for a day and a half. I got billed for the modem even though I didn't request it. If I could give a lower rating I would. I guess you really get what you pay for. I won't go through a 3rd party provider anymore, I'm willing to pay more if it means a more reliable service. read more

If I could give this 0 stars right now I would. I have been getting the runaround for over a week. My internet has been down for 6 days and counting. Everytime I call to speak to a tech, I am told a different story. I'm told to wait at home from8-5 over THREE days for a service window. Who has a 3 day service window? We did - and no one showed up, or called. I called back, and they've asked to reschedule for another 3 days. This is the most frustrating internet service I have ever received. Please save your time and money and look elsewhere for another service provider. Just because the monthly cost is cheaper than other providers, it doesn't mean you're going to get any kind of decent service. read more

We've had so many issues with them over the years that we decided to switch to the competition ( Teksavvy ) for their better reviews and rates. They tried to keep us by matching the prices of the competition so we decided to give them another chance. This turned into an even more horrible experience than we had before. We were sent two defective modems and had tons of issues related to the connection. This left us without internet for 3 weeks in 2 months. We both had to collectively pay hundreds of dollars in Cellphone and Cafe fees to compensate for our complete lack of internet. It was especially frustrating since I need internet for work, so I can't really live without it. So after having gone through installing 3 different modems, 3 visits from Bell Technicians, hours over the phone with them, and no internet for 3 weeks as well as spending a ton of cash, all they would offer us is a free month of internet for our troubles. So yeah, if you really want to waste your time and money, be my guest and go with Distributel. Otherwise, be on the safe side and go with Teksavvy. read more

Have been client for 20 years, with cable 10, it became very slow with time. I called custumer service 2 times to ask for the plan of 25mbps at 34.95 $ offered on their website. A better and cheeper plan comparded to what I had and what I was paying. Since I was already client, they never accepted to change it for me. I am a very loyal custumer... well guess what? Now I am with Virgin plus! What a shame, it says alot on how the treat their clients... read more

This is the worst Home TV provider we ever ran into so far!!! TV show got stuck quite often and recently the TV adaptor won't work, waiting for a week for receiving a new one. After we received the new one, still not working. Then we cancelled their TV and they wanted to charge us for the whole month - we just used their TV for 5 days this month! Everyone should avoid using Distributel's TV services. read more

I have been served by AOL canada for 15 years. They will no longer service canadian accounts as of the end of April. I received this notification and a recommendation to go with Distributel. I researched this company and a lot of negative reviews. I also researched to discover that their service comes on the Bell dry loop. The Smart/RG SR516ac wireless route is the same as many of the service providers and it arrived here in two days. When I called distributel they indicated a new dry loop would be installed to ensure that my Internet 25 service would attain up to 25 MBps download and 10 MBps upload. I went with the Internet 25 service pack. If you get under the Internet 25 they know that the existing bell line will be OK and they do not send out he service tec. For the extra 4 dollars per month, going with the Internet 25 made sense because the line quality was tested by the tec and he got all the glitches. If I choose to reduce my service I can do this at any time, but still retain the higher quality line and the faster modem. The Bell tec arrived and confirmed that our line could actually attain up to 50 MBps, but that my service contract was restricted to 25 and 10, so I would have plenty of signal strength. If I wanted to up my speed and upsize my plan I could do this with assurance that the line into the house would be great. The bell tec also cleaned up my existing termination panel for the Bell and used the existing dry loop. To date I am getting between 24.1 to 25 MBps download and 8.8 to 10.8 upload using the speed test at varying times of the day. I have also called customer service twice, which is in Cairo and they have been very helpful and very courteous. My wait time was less than 5 minutes. Now that my system is fully functional and running as it should I see no reason to connect with them. Live streaming of Netflix is perfect. My internet speed is fabulous. When using my phone to access the internet it is fabulous. Perhaps I just got lucky but knowing that they use the Bell lines and the same router as many of the other service providers sold me. read more

Worst experience ever. Very unreliable. Horrible service. 1 star is too many. Had to cancel them after 1 week.

If I could give zero stars I would. I signed up because at the time it was the best price for what you get. One contract, not a fan, but fine. What I did not appreciate was that during the sign up, no one advised me of what the policy, more appropriately, the cost of early cancelation was. They mislead you in the sales pitch. Do not get tricked. You get a discount, but if you cancel before your one year (like I just did) you have to pay back the discount, plus the alleged "free installation". So after 7 months, I had to pay back over $300. DO NOT ever sign up for this horrible service. They do not inform you up front. They send you the paperwork once it's too late. And "suggest" you read the policies. Distributel is the equivalent of a used car salesman. Sleazy, slimy and sneaky. read more

I am an ex-client of Distributel for internet and home phone services and had been with them since Nov 2012 until mid-Feb 2021, I feel obliged to write this review to caution consumers to stay away from this internet service provider/reseller. Let me be straight to the point, if I could give Distributel a minus five stars rating, I would with no reservation. Do yourself a favour and read my long testimony before choosing an internet service provider, that will save you a lot of hassle and pain down the road I hope. Before I write this review, I checked Distributel's own website to find out what kind of feedback their customers have posted. I was not surprised to see a manipulated censored customer feedback portal, the most recent customer's review (a 5-star rating) was dated Jan 12, 2019, and No reviews after that date?? Almost all the reviews in 2019 and 2018 were 4 / 5 stars, the only logical explanation is that Distributel removed all bad negative reviews from their website and there were No 4 / 5 stars positive reviews since Jan 12, 2019. In any case, the more than 2 years old reviews are now irrelevant. That is why I am not posting this review on Distributel's website, I am sure it will be deleted by them in no time! When I signed up with Distributel more than 8 years ago in 2012, the internet service performed as expected with my package of 18mbps, however, in 2017 I had to upgrade to 30mbps (paid more money of course) as recommended by Distributel when I complained about inefficient internet/wifi. In hindsight, I should have checked if I really got 30mbps. My internet/wifi started to deteriorate again in early 2020, I experienced frequent cut-outs and/or lagging when I watched video streaming over wifi, streaming on my laptop with an ethernet cable was not smooth either when I used Skype video chat. I called Technical Support to find a solution including resetting my internet modem several times but to no avail, and due to the COVID situation, I did not request a home service to check my internet. Finally in Jan 2021, I have had enough of the frequent internet/wifi crashes, I called Technical Support again, this time they recommended me to rent or buy a new modem from them to replace my 3-year old modem which I already owned. At this time, I was paying nearly $80 after tax for my 30mbps internet service with home phone, which I knew was not a competitive price compared to other internet service providers for the same internet/home phone package. Initially I agreed to rent a new modem from them at around $9 per month, but after one day I changed my mind and called Distributel to cancel my new modem order because with the additional new modem monthly rental fee, I thought I was paying too much for 30mbps internet speed. Distributel told me the modem had already been shipped out to my home by courier, so I told them I would return it to them once I received it. The next day morning, my internet service was disconnected without any prior notice, I called Technical Support who told me they deactivated my existing modem because I had a new one, which I still had not received from the courier at that moment. I explained to Technical Support that I had already cancelled my new modem order and requested them to reactivate my existing modem. It took Distributel 3 days before restoring my internet/home phone service, during the outage I had to call Technical Support everyday for an update because they did not proactively manage outstanding service issues, every time I was told to wait 24 to 48 hours even on the third day of breakdown, Technical Support agents I spoke to were rude, unprofessional and unhelpful (except one agent from Gatineau, Quebec), competent ? God knows. I called Customer Service to complain about the prolonged internet outage and requested to speak to a supervisor, I was told by the Customer Service representative to contact Technical Support instead because internet service disruption was not their business and that a supervisor would call me back in 24 hours, which never happened. Imagine having no internet/home phone service for 3 days during a Covid pandemic and government lockdown / stay at home order!! These series of events and terrible experience were enough to be the last straw for me to quit Distributel after 8 years with them. On recommendation of my friend, now I have entrusted my internet/home phone service needs to CIK Telecom, a technician came within 24 hours of account opening to my home to set up the service with a state-of-the-art modem and TWO stand alone routers (versus the pitiful modem/router combination unit from Distributel). Now I happily enjoy internet/home phone service from CIK Telecom at superfast speed of 150mbps, pay $20 less monthly than what I paid Distributel, no contract and equipment monthly rental charge, excellent wifi coverage. Distributel a non-performer will be rooted out from the competitive consumer internet market. read more

They cut my service off without speaking to me, and when I called in, apparently they use a 3rd party biller that made a mistake charging my account, and after speaking with 3 different people to rectify the problem, they blamed the 3rd party biller for the mistake, told me I was cut off a week earlier, and then wanted to charge me $75 and 10 days to reactivate. The admitted they made a mistake but never really bothered to do any customer service to help me out. So I went elsewhere. This company is plagued with horrible customer service, frequent outages, and they have no problems flat out lying to you. read more

I was thinking of switching my TV and internet services as my present provider seems to like to nickel and dime you. I have absolutely no problem with the service, my internet works fine my TV works fine no problem just the nickel and diming you to death. I went through the crtc and apparently there are four companies in Ottawa and I'm not talking internet companies that will provide you with TV like Roku or apple plus or any of those but they provide you with a PVR or similar capability so that you can record programmes to watch later. We all know about Bell Rogers and another one is VMedia wich I'm looking at and the fourth one is that Zazeed TV or infact Distributel. I called them for an e-mail address so that I could send them a list of what stations I wanted using their own list of stations, plus answer a number of questions such as do I have to buy my own PVR, do they have time shifting, storage capacity and or how many programmes can I record at one time. All this person wanted to do was to sell me their service, I guess that's what happens when you are paid strictly on commissions I guess. It was like pulling teeth to get an email address and all he gave me was info@disbutel.ca and he told me they probably won't answer my e-mail. And after reading some of the other reviews I think I'm going to change my mind and I may stick with Bell and then again I may look at the VMedia for internet and TV. read more
I don't know what to make of the very negative reviews down below, but after 4-5 years of service from Distributel, I'm quite satisfied. My plan is about $35/month for 3MBps/0.25KBs, basic speed, the cheapest plan they have, however it has filled my needs surprisingly well. I've saved hundreds of dollars after switching from Rogers from the lower monthly fees and unlimited download usage. I carry a VOIP phone (screw you Bell haha) from MagicJack which feeds through the internet. Also online gaming on the PlayStation 4, has performed very well. Few hiccups along the way with me having to reset the connection and service going out one instance, but at the most the service outage was a day maximum before Technical Support fixed the issue, a credit has always been rewarded for lack of service. Overall, unlimited internet for about $40 with taxes all in, it suits my needs at a great price. read more

I called them to see what I could do about my service because I was moving for a month into someone's else's house who has internet. The first guy was super nice and told me I could pause my subscription and won't be charged until I recall. Anyways a few days past I GET CHARGED. I recall new guy and he's going on about how they can't pause subscription you have to fully cancel and delete your information and I wasn't getting my 80$ back. IM PISSED BECAUSE IM OUT 80 dollars when the first guy should have been trained right instead of telling a customer something and not following though. I told the second guy cancel my subscription and I won't be back and he starts stuttering on the phone. So perfessional. You know what you need to do and that's a refund but you guys won't so I'm finding another company and don't even get me started on how many days I missed out of work because the technician and call lady couldn't communicate on days to install. I had to figure it out myself. This company is nothing but jokes and the internet doesn't even work half the time. For 80$ read more

NEVER-EVER!!! Why is there no Zero stars?. Absolutely the WORST customer service EVER!. After 19 years with AOL Canada (no major issues) who quit the internet game - we joined distributel as offered by AOL recommendation. Things were so-so to begin with, however quickly went south when we advised them we were moving. We advised 5 days ahead ( we were told it would just be plug and go - no delay), from the time we moved in till we cancelled ( after 2 weeks without internet, only excuses and promises) we spoke to and emailed no less than 10 different CSR who each promised different days, and timelines. Needless to say enough was enough. We contacted a competitor and had internet - the next day! Now distributel is worried about receiving their modem back and are chasing us - let them wait - karma is a bitch! This company needs a wake-up call. They are rude and exasperating, and there is NEVER a manager available to speak to. read more

My mom's credit card expired so I called them in October to give the new expirary date. They refused it because I am not on the account. They suspended the account so I switched to another company. At the end of the December they sent us a bill for the last 3 months. The only way I could find out about was to send them proof so I could be added to the account. They phoned me at the begining of January asking for the money and lying saying they told me how to get added to the account in October and also told me they reactivated the account on December 10 without me knowing until today. read more

I thought I was getting a great deal with Distributel. But after they sent my modem to the wrong address, sent a tech to install on the wrong day, and then cancelled 3 separate installation dates, I ended up cancelling and never actually getting service from them. They are a reseller so the scheduling is very challenging, but worse than that, their customer service is horrendous. I started off being understanding and flexible with them, but as time went on and more and more mistakes were made, my patience wore thin. After 75 minutes on hold, they spoke over me on the phone, didn't call back when they said they would, didn't offer any real empathy whatsoever. As I will be working from home, I need the internet set up before I can move. I had to reschedule my move TWICE because of them. Prior to becoming a Distributel customer, I was with 3web for about 8 years. 3web offered a *69 (last caller I.D.) service, and if you were away from home, they could turn your call forwarding on and off for you remotely by request. Even though they purchaed 3web and transferred my account into their company, and received numerous requests from me to add these features to their service, Distributel could do neither. I haven't been a great customer for Distributel because they have a payment date for me that they couldn't change, but usually arrived when my monthly bills had already been paid and the balance of my funds were expended already. So they often had to try a couple of times to take a payment from my charge card, and I paid an extra $15.00 each time for their troubles. Now, in order to continue service with them, even though my payments --often as I have indicated, late-- have been maintained, their billing department wants me to pay a security fee of $425.00 in order to keep the account open. That payment will not assure any change in my poor ability to match their (awkward for me) extraction date, but I think it is an outrageous request no matter what the complaint by them about my account is. So I'm moving to Comwave, and receiving much more service for less money. Also, Comwave is letting me change the date of my payment to a more convenient one, which Distributel claimed they could not do. Comwave also offers last caller I.D., which I can use since my land-line does not have automatic caller I.D. on it. read more

Save yourself the hassles, run far, and run fast. They booked my installation three weeks from when I ordered, then the installer didn't show up, then another three days after that they came in only to tell me they were just there to test the already live line...Next it was set everything up myself (note you pay an install fee, but the contractor that comes isn't allowed to touch the distributel equipment, so you pay to set up yourself). I had to call every single day after installing the equipment (hold times average about 22 minutes) then argue with them that the stupid modem kept dropping signal, after two weeks, and sending an installer who again did absolutely nothing but test the line coming into the house - they agreed to send a new modem) The new modem arrived and I still had all the same issues. Wasn't transmitting, and overnight when it would drop signal, our cell phones would use data to do updates and I got stuck with $85 in overage charges on cell phones. When explained to distributel that they weren't supply the service paid for, and in fact were costing me money, they were unapologetic and I had to fight for my month of non-service to be refunded. Then the second modem went dark, completely dead, again phone calls and promises of a supervisor calling back, and nothing...I have finally cancelled, but I still have to fight to get back the two months of billing they have taken from me...Be warned, they have no infrastructure, so many problems that their lines are always busy, and they offer zero solutions because they don't actually employ any techs. Save yourself the hassles, your time is worth more than the savings. read more

I have a terrible experience recently. All a sudden my internet was lost since the morning of Jun 7. I called the tech support on 8:15am, the rep created a Rogers ticket after worked with me 15 mins to troubleshoot. The Rogers technician was scheduled to Jun 10 morning. I called again whether he could come earlier as the internet is super important in these days. My wife and I are working from home, my kids are studying from home. And I was told that nothing they can do. Thursday morning (Jun 10) the Rogers technician came and checked, then told me the cable is fine, signal is fine. The problem is on modem. I called again on 10:15am (Jun 10) that agreed to switch a modem (my current one is less than a year and still in warranty). But ended up the delivery would come by end of day (Jun 14), 3 full business days. The origin is Mississauga, and I live in Richmond Hill, 40KM distance. I am willing to pickup by myself, but was told that they don't have an office and that's the protocol and nothing else they can do. What a shame! read more

I am writing this review to warn business owners and anyone considering using Distributel's services. I had a horrible experience that should serve as a cautionary tale. I was contacted by Distributel regarding a modem, an outdated $100 piece of equipment that I had forgotten to return. The situation was handled poorly from the start. When I initially spoke with their customer service, I asked for a brief and to-the-point conversation since I was busy running my business. Instead of being respectful, I was spoken to in the most condescending and aggressive manner. The representative was rude and dismissive, which made the whole experience even worse. When I called back to try to resolve the issue and discuss the situation further, they hung up on me. That kind of behavior is completely unacceptable, especially when you're dealing with a small business owner who's just trying to make things right. To make matters worse, they involved a collection agency over a $100 modem and were demanding $600, which is absurd. Their customer service and collections practices are unprofessional and completely disrespectful. If you let things slide for even a moment, be prepared to be treated horribly. I highly advise any business owner--or anyone, for that matter--not to use Distributel's services. Their customer service is the worst I've ever dealt with, and their treatment of customers is appalling. It's not worth the risk of being mistreated. read more
