Not worth the money...even the Groupon deal. I paid $49 for two hours of cleaning. They did NOT mention that it was only ONE hour since two people showed up to clean. All I asked was that the main floor of my 2,500 sq. ft. home be cleaned. This included the bathroom, kitchen, TV room, living room and master bedroom. Most of the cleaning required was basic dusting. I specifically asked that they spent the most time on kitchen and bathroom surfaces. Each surface, including the glass shower doors were left streaky. They did not dust any surface in the TV room...the TV was covered in dust...not a difficult task. It took me less than 30 seconds to do it. I normally clean my own home, but wanted to treat myself. I applied for work with them, What a mistake. Hired on the spot . No background check. Filled out a job app could use any SS# I wanted several apps were posted in easy view with SS#. I was given a broken vacuum and minimal supplies the code to a home and sent out to a home in Woodbury. The next day after waiting in the office for 2 hours I was sent out again to do another "trial Cleaning job" . This lady loved the work that was done called in a good review and gave a nice tip. That would be the only money received. The large check she gave us was taken straight to the office we were to be scheduled for the next days work so as to get an early start. Didn't happen after 2 hours they said return in the morning for an assignment. Next day they still did not know where they were sending me. After a wait I gave them back there busted old equipment and left. The Test homes that I did and was to be paid for well i may never be paid. Fortunately for the people who I did cleaning I am not a thief nor a dangerous person. Just an honest man looking for work. This is the absolute worse service I have ever delt with. They over promise and under deliver. I had one cleaning lady screaming at her boss on her cell phone while trying to clean my house. The other cleaning lady ran in my home 2 hours late tried to clean 3 bathrooms because she wanted to attend the company party and was late. Where most cleaning services offer a discount on the first cleaning, Distinctive Cleaning over charges for the first cleaning and are very deceptive with their pricing. I was quoted $165 over the phone and was made to believe that was the monthly cleaning fee. I then sent email asking for a quote and provided all the information required (i.e., square footage, # of bedrooms, # of bathrooms, and frequency) and received a different quote of $120 per cleaning. When I contacted them to say that I believed I was overcharged for my initial cleaning, they came back with the $165 was the "uncontracted" price (over-priced for the quality of the service provided). The $120 per cleaning was only available for a 6-mo contract. I had scheduled a first cleaning with the intent to continue on with the service if the cleaning was satisfactory. The quality of the cleaning was nothing spectacular, in fact, I had to follow after the gal to clean off surfaces where dirt was left behind. The gal doing the cleaning also left streaks on my stainless steel appliances that I had to then wipe down again myself. Very disappointing, I don't recommend this cleaning service. The cleaning is mediocre at very best. Compared to other companies this one lacks detail! The one person I did find did an adequate job on my house was always late or did not show up. This company is also notorious for charging your credit card before your service, like days before. This is a problem because they also have a problem with showing up at all. They have had issues with Management since Sept 2010 and as of begining December, the problems have not yet been remedied. There are far better services out here that dont charge you prior to the day they show up. A good cleaning company will charge you after service has been rendered. This company says they will not charge your card until services are rendered, but I have not found that to be at all true. The discount voucher will no longer be a discount after you're nickel and dimed to death with all their add ons! In my experience dealing with several people within the office, it's clear that the inconsistencies, rudeness, lack of training, and overall sense of "the company can do no wrong" attitude, comes from the ownership. I purchased a groupon and because of the weather was not able to use it for many months but they still honored it after the expiration. Two cleaners came to my house. One was very good and knowledgeable and the other one scared me. He was lazy and every hackle on my neck went up. I was glad the one cleaner never left him a lone and I was definitely not going to leave them alone in my house. One year after my cleaner, distinctive cleaning charged my credit card $147.77. They immediately reimbursed me saying that it was a glitch in their system. When I asked how the heck could a "glitch" in their system cause such a thing, I never got a response. I suspect they charged every account they knew and pocketed the money on every one who didn't call them on it. Just my opinion. read more

I don't care what business there in - just worst business I have ever tried to work with! The first time they cleaned my house was not happy they left my house and oven dirtier than before they began. Besides the fact they BROKE my oven! The person who cleaned I was told was a "bigger" person?! REALLY? I am now forced to take them to Small claims court because they wont fix/replace my oven. They sent out repair service and after he said it was unfix-able, they stiffed him and tried to offer me $150. I wont go into the 3 weeks of brutally horrid customer service and stupid comments like "Isn't your Oven Under Warranty". Really - does it matter when you lay on the door- do you think the manufacturer is gonna cover that? Or the fact they say there "FULLY" insured and that's why they cost a little more- but when they break something you get the shaft... Or the fact they bill you days before they come out to clean or the fact they said they would re-clean my house for free to make up for the first time, but bill me anyway?! I ordered the cleaners to come at noon and was told they would arrive between noon-1 pm. At 1 pm when no one had arrived or called I called and emailed with no response. Finally the cleaner called me at 130 to state that she was running very late and would not make it to our condo until 230 pm. I said OK, b/c we really needed a clean house. She finally arrived at 3 pm and was done by about 430. When we got home we noticed that the guest bedroom was not cleaned nor were the dishes touched. I had a similar experience. We moved out of our home but our son and some friends are renting from us. I had cleaners lined up to come last Saturday. They didn't show or call and didn't have a record of my appointment. They scrambled and found someone who complained to my son the entire time she was there! The house was too big, she didn't have all her equipment, etc. He called me (in Denver) last night and told me to get my money back, that the work was very poorly done and he's been having to redo things. My cleaner was two hours late. I PAID $240.00 for 3 and a half hours. My cleaner started off well, but she did not do "move-out" cleaning. I had to move the furniture myself to get cobwebs she missed. She clean the laundry room and bathroom and some of the kitchen, but she did a wipe over not very good job on the living room. My cleaner also broke the blinds. She was nice enough to tell me, however when I called the office they told me to "repair" they would not replace. I would not recommend them. I purchased the Crowd Cut voucher for cleaning my apt. The first appt. I scheduled was canceled by the company the day before because they said they were understaffed. This messed up my weekend plans since I was having guests over. We rescheduled for the following week and I was given a window period between noon and 1. They again called the day before to change the time to between 1 and 2. This was a less convenient time slot for me but I rearranged my plans to be home by 1. I waited until about 2:30 but had to leave. The cleaner did not call until close to 3 p.m. saying that's the time she was told, but I had already left and told her I would reschedule. When I rescheduled, I requested a morning time slot and I told them I could not be available in the afternoon. I was told they wouldn't know the time slot until the day before. When they called the day before with an afternoon time slot, I declined and asked for another day. They then told me it would be a $35 charge because I was giving them less than 24 hours notice! So let me get this straight, I said, you call me with the available time slot less than 24 hours before the appt. time and you want to CHARGE me because I didn't give YOU enough notice, when I already told you the week before that a p.m. time slot would not work?! Mind-boggling. After dealing with a couple of different people, they agreed to come earlier and that this particular cleaner was "really fast." Horrible experience, like Karen S., they never showed up or mis-communicated and could not clean - THREE times in a row. I got a Crowd Cut coupon for their services, and called immediately after purchasing to schedule an appointment. Got terrible attitude from the phone answer-er, making it clear how stupid I was because I didn't realize they had over-sold their coupons, and acting like it was ridiculous that I should try to schedule an appointment. I finally got an appointment scheduled for several months out. They didn't call the day before as promised to schedule an appointment and they didn't show up. For my second appointment (the coupon included three), I called the day before to confirm, they called me back to schedule the appointment. I took time off of work to meet the cleaner, had a dinner party planned for that night, and after the appointment was supposed to start, I got a call that the cleaner was sick and they would not be able to send anyone else. I (probably stupidly) rescheduled. For the reschedule... I called the morning of the appointment to let them know to come in the back door which would be unlocked, I would not be home. I left a voicemail. I called back a couple of hours later to make sure I spoke with a person, I left the same message with a person. When I returned from work that afternoon, I had two voicemail messages from the cleaner that she was at the house but no one was home. She hadn't tried the backdoor, nor had she gotten the message that she was supposed to. I THEN got a message from Jennifer, the owner, giving me lots of attitude, telling me this was the second time they had come out when I hadn't been there and they wouldn't be able to come out again. She later apologized and went on and on with excuses, said she wouldn't be able to give me any money back, and would I please, please, please consider rescheduling. NO WAY! She didn't vaccuum any of my stairs. She talked on her phone for an extended time. She left water running for an extended time. The representative on the phone was not very friendly. This company is not well run. The guys that showed up to do the window cleaning, they used paper towels and spray bottles. Terrible streaking. I just wanted them out of the house. These guys were not professionals. I was billed twice for tax on my credit card.....which I had a funny feeling about giving out over the phone to the company personnel and asked to pay cash when they got to the house. I don't even want to call to get my $10 in tax back because I don't want to give them my credit card number again. They charge by "pane" and would double the "pane" if it was bigger than normal but didn't subtract for smaller than normal panes. The whole thing from start to finish was not good. I purchased a 3-cleaning Plum District promo last year and like the reviewer below, after many attempts of them not showing up when they were scheduled, I have given up. First cleaning was awesome - must have given me their best person (Sara) as I really had high hopes of using them in the future after she cleaned my place. Second time I asked them to show up before my daughter's birthday - they never showed! I called after the window in which they were to show up had passed and they said their person was sick. Would have been nice to have rec'd a call instead of waiting for them to show up and then find out less than 24 hours before the party that I'd have to be doing all the cleaning myself! Not impressed with how they handled it - a simple call would have been nice. They resch me with a heavy smoker that I think was only acting like she was cleaning as I didn't notice much difference in the house when she left. Third time, like the second, I had to call the day of to find out they had a bunch of people that were sick so they would have to reschedule - did they forget to put me on the calendar? They resch me for the following Friday. That is today - well, I called 30 minutes after the window in which they were to show up had passed and they said their person was running way behind. No problem, I told her, we'd be here all day. That was when she said that she might just not be able to show up today at all as she can't make the person just not get her kids. I understand but as before, a call would have been fantastic - especially since again I found myself waiting around for them to show up and wasted my time. The lady on the phone wasn't even apologetic. In summary, this company is NOT reliable, NOT professional, NOT worth the hassle in dealing with and certainly NOT worth even the discounted rate. Their work has been sub-par and they have been a headache to deal with. I called after the second cleaning to find out if I could get my money back for the portion of what would be the third cleaning and Plum District told me "Our contracts with vendors require us to honor every deal sold, and that's why we're able to offer such good deals to our Plum District members." Unfortunately Plum District supported this vendor even though this vendor was failing to hold up their end of the bargain (and it obviously wasn't just me as I can now see after reading through these other reviews...). I have dropped my Plum District membership as I can't rely on them when the companies they help support don't provide the service I paid for. Groupon will BTW - I am a loyal customer of theirs and will continue to be - I've only had one incident with one of the companies I purchased a Groupon for and they stood behind the customer. Yay Groupon - Boo Plum District! Bottom Line: I think this cleaning company's strategy is to keep putting off those with promo deals so that customers that purchased these "deals" finally give up trying to "collect" on them. The cleaners are not the problem at Distinctive Cleaning. The people who run this insist on making agreements over the phone, never in writing. They have repeatedly messed up the time schedule. But the real problem is the shady financials: They insisted on setting up automatic payments and I've been repeatedly charged more than what we agreed to over the phone, and now I'm having auto payments taken out three months after canceling the service. I've literally called them 5 times about this. My favorite moment was "what can we do to make this right?" That was 2 months ago, and they still have not refunded my account for the charges made with no service. STAY AWAY. If I had the time, patience, and money for a lawyer, I'd sue. read more

I have been terribly disappointed in this cleaning service. Multiple times the "forget" to clean the bathroom or a shower or only dust around things on a table verses dust the whole table. After discussing this with them on multiple occasions I have stopped using them, yet they continue to charge my credit card. They have not been responsive to requests to credit me back. After waiting over two months I finally received a credit on my credit cord for a cleaning that I never had. My quoted time was 11 - 1, and I called at 12:45 because I hadn't received a phone call yet, and she said, "Well, it's not 1 yet! They were convincing on the po=hone to set up the "free cleaning for cancer patients" HAH...they did talk about hard times in this econonmy and we agreed to pay $139 for a deep clean of a 2 br 1 bath house (maybe 1000 sq feet). Supponsed to be there between 9-10 as the cancer patient had a dr apt in the afternoon. When they called the night before, they said they'd be there between 12 and 1...not a good imporession. When the lcean er got there at 1:45with no mop or broom, we asked about the deep clean as agreed to. She said that it was just a general clean, as we were going to the dtr, she agreed to stay for the cleaning project. When we got home hour and half later, she was just leaving...what a mess! didn;t sweep, there was dust on floor in corners, cobwebs still hanging off ceiling fan. top of fridge not cleaned, floor next to toilet not cleaned. Top of end table not dusted. but apparently she did use windex to clean to top of the WOODEN entertainment center, because there is now a large white mark where the finish has been marred... I bought a Groupon. I called ONE MONTH in advance to make sure that I got the day I wanted. I travel a lot for business so it is important to me to be able to schedule these things when I am home. On the day of, I called to find out what time they would be coming and sure enough, they gave me some run around about someone being out sick and that they couldn't come that day and had to re-schedule. They didn't even seem apologetic and certainly did not offer to make the situation right. Looks like I'm not the only one who has had this problem. Makes me so mad. I recently had a poor experience with this company. I had gone to their website and requested an estimate via email and sent it on a Sunday, expecting to hear back by Monday. Monday rolls around and still no phone call or email estimate, which is fine, but I wasn't impressed. I called that day and spoke to a woman who gave me an estimate over the phone (which included windows) and had an appointment made. The cleaners were supposed to come between 9-10am, by the time 10:20 came around I called and asked if they were on their way. The woman could not find my appointment in their computer system, and asked who I had spoken to. I said I was not sure, but it was a woman and she gave me an estimate. The woman I was speaking to now said that no one in the office remembered this conversation and that I must have spoken to the owner, who was now out of town. She went on to say that they typically do not give estimates for windows over the phone without seeing the place first. I said I understand, however, if I had possibly spoken to the owner, one would assume the appointment would be made correctly and the estimate would be correct? If the "owner" can not keep things organized to set an example for their employees, how does she expect her employees to do things correctly? They could not get anyone to come out they day I needed, and did not bend over backwards to help me out. I would not recommend this place to anyone. I also had a HORRIBLE experience with Distinctive Cleaning. To clarify, their website says they are in Bloomington, but this is the same company that everyone is talking about. I scheduled a cleaning for our new house before everything was moved in. Like Alice W., we had very specific requests that were noted in the estimate, for example, wiping out cabinets, wiping out drawers, floors, windows, bath tubs, etc. My appointment was for 9am and I called them the day before to confirm (they did not call me to confirm). The next day, they did not arrive until 11am!!! Slugishly, the two women got out of the car and didn't seem to care of notice that they were 2 hours late. I immediately regretted using Distinctive Cleaning. The two cleaning ladies moved extremely slowly and very lethargically for most of the day. I could tell nothing was being cleaned with detail and nothing was being scrubbed. I asked about cleaning the windows and they said they forgot their window cleaner. A week later, my fiance found a whole pile of spilt sugar in the kitchen cabinet from the previous owners, so they did not wipe out the kitchen like I had specifically requested and was included in the cost. I spent an entire month calling Distinctive Cleaning asking for a refund. Each time I spoke with a man named Julian who was never very helpful. He kept telling me that the owners are never in town so he couldn't ask them if he could give me a refund. I called once a week for a month and then he finally said that he would send the cleaning team out to clean the house again for free. I said, "Why would I want them to come out again and waste my whole day for an awful job?" Seriously, I could clean my house better and quicker for no cost! I asked for any other services that could make up for this. I decided to have one of our mattresses cleaned. On the Saturday morning that the mattress guys were supposed to come, they were an hour and a half late!! They smelt SO bad of smoke and didn't take off their shoes! Distinctive Cleaning service have a bunch of unprofessional people working there! Do not use them. I got a referral so I decided to use them being busy and all. I was so excited the day of cleaning and was excited to come home to a nice clean home. They gave me a good estimate and I had told them that I needed extra clean up work. Later that day nicole calls and says they need extra $$ because the cleaning was more than they expected. I was ok with paying extra $$. Once I got home I noticed that there were some missed spots. She did an OK job but not for that extra $$. The nightmare began when I called them the next day to complain. A simple sorry, we will come and take care of it would of been nice.....but nope, they tried to blame everything on my messy house.....HELLO!! I did not put a gun to your head to come clean my house! I paid you to do it and if you did not want to do it, a simple we cannot do it would of been fine. There are so many other cleaners out there. They go on to tell me a manager will call me. 6 hours later someone calls me and puts me on hold and hangs up on me twice...by this time I am angry. She says 'Ma'am, you're the one who bought a coupon, the only thing we ask of you is that you're flexible with the schedule. We'll give you the same service we provide all of our other customers, but you're the one who needs to be flexible, here."
