We got our 'Teddy Bear' puppy from here a few years ago. Unfortunately, I had my kids with me and they had seen the website pictures of the puppies. They were completely set on returning home with a puppy. We ended up with a sweet dog, but she has problems with her front legs (severely bent, which is getting worse by the year) and some other hereditary problems. I had serious reservations when we arrived and I should have left. The multitude of cages in the garage with puppies should have been the final straw, but my kids were deadset on a puppy. I cannot stop thinking about the money this woman makes on the lives of dogs that have no life. I paid $1200 for a mixed breed dog that has skeletal problems that can't be 'fixed'. More importantly, I can't stop thinking about the dogs...maybe my dog woud have ended up as a 'breeder'; it makes me sick to my stomach to even imagine it. I just learned that she's moving her 'operation' to Florida, which will be even less regulated than Wisconsin. Scary. read more

I truly believe Dirty Paws was a decent kennel at one time. However, for whatever reason they are in a downward spiral. We drove 4 hours to see the puppies and were appalled by the operation and interactions with the staff, who were extremely unprofessional. I've never seen a puppy mill but this is what I imagine it to be...only a little cleaner. The owner's assistant absolutely knew nothing about the dogs and we overheard him threaten to beat a dog if it didn't shut-up. Don't be deceived by the testimonials on the website. They delete any negative comments. If your looking for a Teddy Bear...please look elsewhere until they can get their act together. read more

We purchased a puppy from this crazy lady a few years ago. Within hours of having the puppy it was hacking and scratching its ears like crazy. Took it to the vet and it had all sorts of infections, parasites, skin diseases. Gross! Patty said she would refund the price but after multiple attempts to get her to do it she continued to dodge the situation. She lied over and over about her entire business. She is deceitful and runs a disgusting puppy mill. Please learn from my mistake and stay away from this place. read more

My Teddybear, Charlie, has been the love of my life for 7-1/2 years now. I was brave enough to buy this dog on the Internet, sight unseen, drive over 100 miles from my home to the Portland OR airport to pick him up at midnight. My bravery was rewarded by the best pet I have ever had--and one that is the envy of everyone who has ever been lucky enough to meet him. He is the perfect dog: smart, eager to please, loyal, obedient, hypoallergenic, healthy and loving. We trained him with positive reinforcement, and he also learned by watching other dogs to things like retrieving a ball, etc. I was very sorry to read the previous review. Charlie was bred and raised for the first 10 weeks by the Patty, who is also groomer. He came already trained to be very still while being groomed. I'm so happy to learn that the breed will not die when Patty retires, because I would assuredly welcome another Teddybear into my home, and I have recommended Dirty Paws Teddybears to many, many people. There is a certain amount of downside to breeding dogs, but I would not want to share on Yelp my one and only experience with the breeding profession without having visited a few others. After all, this is not a private home, breeding their single female once a year. The one thing that I can defend in my limited experience is that none of the Dirty Paws Teddybear puppies would ever be turned into breeders, which was a fear of the former Yelper. Those "breeders" must be as advertised: the sire must be a shih tzu and the dam must be toy poodle and bison frise crosses. Their offspring cannot duplicate themselves. In closing, I would highly recommend that you do yourself the favor of a lifetime and experience for yourself a sweet-natured, loving, bred-to-comfort Teddybear. read more
