I am devastated with the way my first visit went at this "veterinary" office. My 6 month old…read morechihuahua has a spot on his back, missing fur which has developed quickly over the past 2 weeks. A very strange sore that I had no clue what to do with or where it came from. His original vet was unable to see him until Monday and I was unable to wait in his condition out of fear for my kids and other animals. I was able to get an appointment Wednesday evening for Thursday at 4:20. I got a voicemail at 7pm on that same Wednesday saying I needed to reschedule as they would not have a doctor Thursday so we agreed to Friday. When I arrived on time, I waited almost 15 minutes past my appt time to go back. Amanda at the front desk was kind. Not expecting the office to be a miracle worker, just hoping to find out what it is and if it's contagious or not as I have 2 kids and 2 other dogs, "Dr" S, a dark haired woman they consider a doctor, hardly looked me in the face speaking to me and had 4 VERY different suggestions on what it could be, leaving me in the same spot I started with no knowledge on the issue. I tried to be understanding and make suggestions (making suggestions to a doctor about something in which I know nothing is bizarre itself, I was desperate and hopeful for some kind of reliable answer). She was adamant on fleas, I assured her there were none and I'd just done a flea bath Wednesday before scheduling the appt. She insisted on combing my dog which was fine to rule it out for her, then realized there were indeed no fleas. She then switched to a hotspot, then maybe ringworm (which I was concerned of because of stray cats in my yard but was unlikely) then wound up with staph infection. She then suggested a multi-day antibiotic which I quickly turned down with plans to just take him to his regular veterinary office to find the real solution. I was charged $88 for a less than 5 minute visit that was rescheduled on their part, then waited after my appointment time after working all day and turning down his original vet that called me back because this place seemed hopeful and I did not want to cancel short notice on their business. I went back in to speak about the charge because I was completely mind blown. I don't think anyone can afford to be blindsided with no positive result whatsoever or take a risk in spending more on a seemingly VERY uneducated guess. The Dr. S woman began to say how hard it is to tell what skin conditions can be and how they should've notified me of the charge over the phone. I was notified of the charge but they knew why I was coming, I would have greatly appreciated a heads up that they may not have a reliable solution to my issue for that reason as well. When Amanda (who I assume is the boss) came to the counter to speak with me, an unknown man followed her to listen in on what must have been considered the latest drama and Dr. S continued to cut me off telling Amanda it was a staph infection. It would have been a different story if she was as sure in the beginning as she was when her boss came out. I then decided to cut my losses as they invited an unknown person to the situation which made me feel as a customer with a problem, 3 to 1 which I did not deserve when I only wanted to be heard and understood. I am sad I wasted my money here and have to start all over again with an entirely new vet bill Monday. I did not have the money to waste right now and regret investing trust into this place. I hope you enjoy the $88 tip.

That should have been my first clue. And my bad, I was desperate so never ask office fee. I was SHOCKED to hear it was 75.00 after I was already there. They did NOTHING for the money. They half heartedly checked my pet then said they would make a treatment plan as it could be this or could be that. The plan was nothing but test for a total of $888.94. Um WHAT??? And that was just an estimate. Cost could be 10 to 20 percent more. I paid the 75 and left. They truly did NOTHING to my pet. All they did was rip me off for 75.00 and did not seem to care about anything as long as my debit card covered the bill. NEVER again. Went to my normal vet the next day. My pet was taken care of for 80.00, including exrays. Dunkel wanted two hundred and twenty dollars just for exrays. Thankfully my vet took care of my baby and she is doing well. Lesson learned. Let my lesson be your warning. Total rip off. Go elsewhere. Avoid these con artist. I give a zero rating. What a total rip off. Well, Dunkel enjoy the 75.00. You will never get another penny for me and I will warn everyone. The vet never introduced herself and just wanted my money. She did not care at all that I was worried about my baby and my baby needed a vet. All she wanted was the money.

What I initially believed to be a trustworthy partnership quickly unraveled into a nightmare. Over time, I endured verbal abuse, harassment, and manipulation at the hands of James (Jim) and his significant other, Darcy (Dee). Whiskey completed a 14-day board-and-train program at Mid-Michigan K9 Academy. However, soon after, I noticed a behavioral issue and reached out for guidance. Instead of receiving support and education, I was met with immediate dismissal. I later discovered that the responses I believed were from James were actually from Darcy impersonating him. A few months later, I faced health challenges that required routine medical treatment in Saginaw, which allowed me to drop Whiskey off for daycare on a regular schedule. When my treatment schedule changed, I informed the staff--both two weeks in advance and again on the day of my last pickup. However, when I arrived at the facility on the revised day, I was met with an unsettling experience. I waited for 20 minutes with no staff in sight, despite hearing them in the back room. When I finally called out, Darcy stormed out, yelling that I had no appointment. James followed, demanding I leave. I stood my ground, insisting they check the cameras to confirm my scheduled visit. After reviewing the footage, James admitted their mistake and offered a half-hearted apology. Unfortunately, this was just the beginning of months of continued mistreatment. Eventually, I stopped bringing Whiskey to daycare. A year later, once my health improved, I decided to give Mid-Michigan K9 Academy another chance. It didn't take long for the same pattern of abuse to resume. While trying to arrange an exit bath for Whiskey before a vacation, I encountered endless delays, vague responses from staff, and outright hostility from Darcy and James. After a week of back-and-forth messages, James told me his bath would be taken care of, only for his staff to later claim they no longer offered the service --despite recent emails outlining new pricing. The abuse continued. By then, I had lost all trust in their business and felt deeply uneasy about Whiskey's treatment in my absence. After two days without any updates on Whiskey, I reached out to Darcy. Instead of a simple response about my dog, I was met with further mistreatment and bullying, resulting in James repeatedly calling and messaging me, accusing me of being rude and saying, "If you don't like it, you can come pick up your dog"--three days before my vacation was set to end. When I chose not to engage while on vacation, James terminated the relationship. When I requested a refund on the remaining credits from my prepaid October 2023 daycare visits, James responded with hostility, aggression, and harassment, ultimately physically forcing my husband and me off his property. His behavior prompted us to dig deeper into his background. I was beyond disturbed to learn that James is a convicted murderer, recently released from a life sentence due to a gubernatorial decision. Given his history and his treatment of me, I no longer feel safe anywhere near him. I encourage everyone to look further into his disturbing past. (his version of the story is NOT the story.) This entire experience has been nothing short of abusive. From impersonating staff members to financial exploitation, bullying, and verbal harassment, Mid-Michigan K9 Academy operates with blatant disregard for basic human respect and integrity. Their actions not only reflect poor business ethics but also raise serious concerns about the safety and well-being of both clients and their pets. I took the legal steps to fight for my credit owed and won my case. I will continue warning others about the dangers of engaging with this business. No one should have to endure the mistreatment I faced. James is not fit for society--he continues to manipulate, silence, and exploit others while refusing to take accountability for his actions. I hope my story serves as a cautionary tale for anyone seeking pet training services. Proceed with extreme caution.
