I have used various PetSmart for 20 years with several of my dogs. I had very skilled and caring…read moregroomers in Lufkin at first. The last few years have been bad. They have labeled my 12 year old dog as hard to handle and charge $10 more and on top of that, this last haircut was awful. She has long strands all over and her feet look chopped up. They should have took off money instead of an extra charge. My dog seemed extremely tired and was very shaky. Unlike, how she has been at other visits. I'm not saying they gave or sprayed anything on her but she wasn't herself. However I do not recommend this location. I hesitated to bring her back after the last few grooming hoping to find a decent grooming on the list. Nope it just got worse. Never again at the Lufkin location.

I told the gentleman I was on my way and was driving one hour to get it to please hold it for me. He told me no problem, I gave him my name and headed up there. When I got there and asked for the turtle they informed me that they can't hold anything and they sold him. So a wasted an hour to be lied too! I then had to drive 2 additional hour out of the way to PETCO that held a turtle for me "considering I was driving so far away" The turtle was for my 3 year old best friends son's birthday, that has begged for a turtle since he could talk. This review is just for the grooming portion…read more They were able to get my 4 year old, 65lbs, shaggy labradoodle in within 2 days of me calling for a groom. We asked for a total shave down/summer cut, and she looked wonderful after!! No spots were missed and she came out very happy. The groomer checked her in and was there for pick up. It took the typical 4 hours. I usually go to Petco or Petsmart because of cost, but when we moved to TX I wanted to try somewhere else. The cost was the same but the groomer took her time to get the knots out between her toes and shave her legs evenly...which wasn't the case at Petco/Petsmart. Also her super hairy doodle ears were plucked all the way. Plus! They got her in sooner. Usually for the bigger retail places it's a week or more out. For large dogs they do not express anal glands, just fyi. Wasn't a deal breaker for me. All the dogs coming in for daycare were super cute and excited! It makes we want to try it out. :)
