This review is for "services" rendered a few months ago. The door is locked when you finally find the "abandoned " looking building and the person that answers the phone seems exasperated that we are bothering him despite our appointment. We requested a simple wash, nail trim and ear cleaning for our hound mix baby. She smelled the same when we picked her up and she still had a lot of dandruff. Her nails were still clicking on the floor and the same person stated that they only filed her nails as they were worn to the quick. This groomer must spend most of their time with smaller pets that require hair cutting and don't want to care for mutts like ours so we won't be returning. read more

I've lived in Florida for six years and have struggled to find a groomer who will keep my little dogs fluffy and cute. Most will do it quickly and say that there were some matting so they had to shave them down. I was beyond happy with the results when I picked them up. My dogs are very dependent on each other and they even kept them in the same cage and took them out when they were getting their baths so they could see each other. Needed a last minute groomer to bathe and clip nails of 2 new rescue dogs and chose this one due to all the good reviews. They were able to do just a few hours after calling. When I walked in with my 2 sweeties, we were greeted with "Welcomes" and with smiling faces, OH! and not to leave out, the brightly painted walls and cheerful ambience within. The friendly personnel had instant rapport with these little gals. My only concern was the cost was a little high for just bathing and nail clipping. One dog is a chihuahua and will not need clipping. But the other one is a poodle mix, and yes, I definitely will take her back because she and personnel there got along so well. I was dog sitting for our daughter's new rescue puppy for ten days and wanted to surprise her with a clean, groomed puppy when she returned home. I tried to get an appointment with a few other recommended groomers in our area and 1. they either weren't taking new clients or 2. they had a 1-2 month wait list. Luckily, Dirty Dog Groomers had a cancellation and was able to book us within three days. As with all first time appointments, you must bring in your dog's shot records. Yes, they take cash only. Yes, they are only open during the weekday. However, they also accept "walk-ins" just for nail trims at $5.00 per dog - any size dog, in between grooming appointments because dog's nails grow faster than their hair or fur. Dirty Dog Grooming has two facilities and also offers "walk-in" DIY wash and dry facilities for any size dogs for a nominal price if you MUST have your four-legged-furry pet washed and have his/her nails clipped ASAP. Pet grooming, good pet grooming isn't a walk in off the street kind of business like some "nail places" or " $10.00 hair-cut" chains for human people. If you want a quality grooming treatment for your pet, you'll want to give your business to a quality groomer just like you would treat yourself to a manicure, pedicure or hair salon. The best "people ones" are always fully booked. That is how you determine a quality business. Excellent small business with the love and compassion for all their canine clients. The owner, Sandy is fun loving and professional as is her staff of helpers. The place is neat and clean, the pups are treated like kids (as they should) and spoke to often as they await pick up. My 2 lil' chihuahua's only need nail trim, but they are excited to know we are going to 'Aunt' Sandy to look pretty and have their nails trimmed and sanded smooth. Both of my rescues are very comfortable with the way they are cared for, I don't even have to pet or speak, they love attention they get, tails a wagging always! BTW the location is a little tricky, you have to drive behind the 3 strip of stores in from on Manatee Ave, use the side drive and the green building is in the BACK! read more
