When I was finally almost recovered from all that, I was involved in a high-speed car crash. I was lucky to walk away, but not without sustaining some injuries, 1 of which was a concussion. Just after the accident, there was a giveaway on Instagram for a package of 4 Mild HBOT with light therapy, and I won. Since the start of my 2nd bout with cancer, I jumped in to all these holistic and alternative therapies as normal Western medicine was failing me in many ways. So winning this was more exciting than I could ever explain, and it would end up being a huge blessing. My 1st session felt relaxing. The next week, I had my final 3 sessions. While the 4 sessions didn't fix everything, I can not tell you enough how much better I felt after the 3rd and especially the 4th session. I have practiced a little qi gong on my own so was familiar with the concepts, but still a little apprehensive upon arrival. That apprehension dissolved quickly, Simone's energy is bright and welcoming and the experience was very positive. She is practicing and sharing PURE qi gong, NOT watered-down new-age energy work. I won't share the details of my personal experience, but I will say that I felt a lot of qi movement and replenishment, and left feeling much more inner peace and awareness of my surroundings, body, and self. She picked up on issues that I had forgotten to even mention, and the session gave me more clear direction on what I can do to improve my health and personal development, also renewing interest in deepening my own solo qi gong practice. Also, the space was clean, sunny, and a charming big old Portland house with plenty of nearby parking. Simone is wonderful and I highly recommend working with her.

Wow. I had no idea my physical and emotional health had gotten that bad. School, work, family,…read moredogs, social life..."I've got this!" I thought; but with unrelenting headaches, chronic fatigue, fragile emotions, depression and a belief that I just couldn't do one more thing, I realized I had to stop avoiding help and take the steps to heal myself. I had spent a great deal of time doing yoga and other forms of qi gong and meditation in the past, but just felt like I didn't have the time. I had met Simone a few times through a mutual friend and really felt at home with her. So, I scheduled some intensive training sessions and jumped right in. The details of my experiences are a bit personal, but I can say that after a few sessions with her my symptoms were either gone or the root of them exposed. What's more, I had a huge emotional release that allowed me to see the habits or ways of thinking that continually cause me to fall into the same unhealthy routines. Working with Simone is definitely not like new age energy- work sessions; someone who completed some workshops deems themself qualified to rearrange my energetic furniture. Simone is a old-world professional practitioner trained by real, old-world masters. She tailors the sessions to fit the needs and experience of the client and knows exactly when to speak and when to listen, when to push though and when to ease off. During our time together, she repeatedly caused energetic shifts in me that were just as noticeable as hearing my cell phone ringing. In other words, very real and observable effects. I continued doing the practices prescribed by Simone for months and am now considering going to study this form in China. Working with Simone is the epitome of holistic; physical, mental and emotional healing that is measurable and maintainable. The environment is so accepting, encouraging, diverse, inclusive, and safe to share as much of your story and challenges as you'd like. The group therapist, Deja, is phenomenal and provides amazing therapeutic care and has helped me process and overcome so many things I never thought I could/would. I also received medication management from one of their PMHNP providers, Sheela, who truly listened to me and immediately got to work on how to support my stability and mental, emotional, and physical health through medication and other supports. They provided case management services as well and gave me an extensive list of resources I could utilize to further support my journey. The individual therapy sessions I had with Deja were so helpful and supportive, and even the front desk staff were so helpful, responsive, and supportive. This place specializes in psychiatric care. Psychiatry is the medical specialty devoted to the study, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of mental disorders. Psychiatry is usually comprised of both a psychotherapy, and psychiatric medication aspect. If you are looking for a different approach than one that involves being put on a psychiatric medication with therapy then I suggest you find a place that only does therapy. Or bring up concerns to a provider here. But it has always been my experience that the providers at this clinic have prescribed within reason, and for the right reasons. In the interest of being non-bias I looked up provider profiles on ProPublica to check for potential conflicts of interest. I found that one provider's most prescribed drug is Ambilify. While that could potentially be a sign of influence from pharmaceutical money. The statistics are self reported to ProPublica and is something that they have been candid about. Also Ambilify has been shown to be an effect add-on medication for many manic depressive mood disorders that has no generic alternative currently. ProPublica only shows the top prescribed brand name medication so in all likely hood it is because of the lack of generic that there is even a ProPublica record for a provider from this clinic. My provider has always been honest and forward with me about my treatment and has gone out of their way to accommodate me so as to benefit my treatment. So if you are looking for psychiatric treatment then I'd recommend this clinic. But be informed about what you are receiving as treatment. They provide therapy in commonly with the addition of medication, to the best of their professional medical expertise. Don't judge performance poorly if you expected something different than psychiatric care from a psychiatric clinic. Ignorance of what psychiatry is and isn't, is not grounds for a poor review. I believe that other patients probably think positively of the care provided here as well, but with a public stigma attached to mental health it isn't something people tend to want to give a review about. So please don't let a bad review dissuade you from seeking help from this clinic. I wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for the providers at Associates for Psychiatric and Mental Health.
