Went in for an injury. Did xrays, let me know what was going on. I asked for some pain medication to help my SLEEP as joints were throbbing. I was given Tramadol by the male PA. Picked it up, got home, looked up the side effects for it and one was DISTURBED SLEEP. I took some and waited to go to sleep. Kept my spouse awake most of the night tossing and turning. On top of that I asked to sign a release of info form to have my records sent to my PCP on my way out. The young female receptionist said they COULDN'T DO THAT. That my PCP has to request that. I explained that I worked in medical records quite a while and that a patient can request any of their own records be forwarded. She argued with me. Basic legal patient records rights should be taught and an RX for the wrong thing was just poor customer service/ care. I won't be back. read more

Providers were rude and condescending, gave a mis-diagnosis of requiring surgery, only have to have the surgeon (in the same office!) tell me he doesn't know what they were talking about because there was nothing wrong, but of course charged me again. Then I paid the bill that they sent and they RETURNED the check and then sent me another bill for the exact same amount! They now say they have no record of the check and are demanding I pay them again. The office, record keeping, and the providers all leave a lot to be desired. From day one, the Office gave me verbal instructions to the wrong location for our appointment. thankfully, I showed up 15 minutes early for the front receptionist to indicate we were at the wrong location due to their error. We showed up for an x-ray written by Dr. Nielsen and not only was the script not signed, but there was no diagnosis and we waited in the waiting room for 30 minutes until a new script was sent over. Then at the follow up visit check out we were given a paper referral to Neuro associates and told they would be contacting us within the week. the form DOC gave us indicates the wrong phone number for Neuro associates . After a week of waiting for them to call us, I called Neuro Associates and they said they never received the referral. I called back DOC and spoke to Layetti, she explained their office never did a referral because they were actually waiting on us!! in disbelief I asked why on earth would they be waiting for us, my son still in severe pain and we've been waiting over a week for this referral which Dr. Nielsen said would be done! From start to finish this Office has dropped the ball in every single element of healthcare, but they're quick to bill insurance over $400 for one visit! Flaky office with terrible service and staff! Dr Spelich ruined my life after a botched HIP replacement surgery. During surgery, he snipped the nerve that allowed my foot to lift when I walk. Lindsey (PA-C) and Dr. Hassinger took great care when evaluating my shoulder with ultrasound and to determine whether PRP would be beneficial. They were able to find what appeared to be a tear in my shoulder tissue on the ultrasound and referred me to get an MRI rather than treating me with PRP which is often out of pocket and can be a big financial investment. They were conservative in their treatment and didn't talk me into anything I wasn't comfortable with. I felt they were very thorough in their examination and helped me better understand where my injury was. The MRI showed a tear that required surgery to fix, so I'm really glad for their expertise and suggestions. read more

Do not go to Direct Orthopedic Denton. Went to see them for my foot. They had me see a PA. Called two days later to let them know that the treatment recommended was not working and having complications. The PA that I saw has left. They recommended that I come back in to get evaluated and are wanting to charge me again. After mentioning that I was just seen and that it is not my fault that their provider left, they are not willing to work with me. I requested a office manager call me. I am in allot of pain and nothing was done. read more

My son broke his collar bone and after a trip to the walk in clinic and x-rays, we were referred to DOC. We met with the doctor who reviewed the xrays and gave us the same diagnosis. He then gave some treatment options and requested that we schedule another appointment to meet with another Doctor on the clinic. A few weeks later, to my surprise, we receive a bill that indicated that single visit was over $500. No treatment was rendered and the entire appointment lasted all of 20 minutes. I called to inquire about the charges and was told that they use codes to determine charges (not that that means anything to me) and that they billed less than they could have. They offered to send me the notes and charts but I declined as it wouldn't help me to understand how the charges are calculated. DOC actively advertises as being less expensive than the big hospital clinics, but I'm hard pressed to see the truth in that after this experience. read more

Absolutely a horrible experience. They got me in and saw me right away. Did the X-ray like I asked for. However the Doc tried to tell me that I had gout, instead of looking at the obvious, which any professional would be able to see, which was that the bone was simply out of place. I had to wait until the following Monday to get into my Chiropractor who took one look at the X-ray and immediately could tell the bone was out of place. He put it back in place and that day I was about 90% better and by the end of the following day I was 100% after not being able to walk on my foot without it hurting a ton. Typical medical facility that thinks they know it all cause they went to school. They simply go by symptoms instead just doing the work of diagnostics. I was seen by a Physician's assistant, NOT a doctor, the diagnosis was not correct (impingement). AND it cost $625.. and AFTER my Blue Cross insurance and co-pay I still had to pay $100. I returned to my home, saw my Orthopedic surgeon, got and MRI and learned I had 2 full thickness rotator cuff tears. read more

A friend referred me to DOC when I was having severe issues with my shoulder. I could not be more pleased with how this experience turned out. I was greeted warmly in reception (which is shared with Allied Orthopedics), and after filling out the usual entry paperwork I maybe waited 5 minutes before being called into the office. It took about 10 minutes for Dr. Spelich to come in. He was friendly, he was easy to talk to, and took his time evaluating my injury. read more

My husband injured his knee coming off a ladder. He waited a few days hoping it would feel better, as he could not put any weight on it. He ended up at the meridian location. After initial visit and xrays it was determined he needed an MRI. We went back in a couple of says later, after the MRI, and found that he had torn the meniscus on both sides of his knee. He received a cortisone shot hoping it would help. It is a week after the shot and we ended up at the emergence room last night. He was given a pain injection and told to follow up with DOC the next morning. I called this morning to explain the amount of pain he is experiencing. He moans when he is asleep. I asked if he could get a different pain medication as the low dose hydrocodone was not working. After sitting on hold, I was told that he should not need narcotics for his injury. WOW! His knee all the way down to the end of his toes are swollen and black and purple. He has a huge lump on the outside of his knee. All I asked is if we could change his pain medication. I felt like I was treated as a drug addict trying to get medications. They said we could come in and be seen again as there was no way to reach the PA we saw last Tuesday. I asked, and was told they only have one orthopedic doctor who goes between their locations. He is off this entire next week for spring break. Each visit is more money for them. It is definitely worth it to wait to see a doctor who cares, instead of seeing multiple physicians assistants who treat you like a number instead of a person. Lesson learned! read more

It is incredible that they charge more than $345.00 dollars for a wrist cast. The doctor that saw my daughter only stayed for 3 minutes in the room saying: "That's a bummer that you broke your wrist while skiing. What color you want your cast?" Then he said that the nurse will come and cast her. For that quick 3 minute "doctor visit" they charged this amount. And because the fracture was not healed after two weeks they put a new cast on her and charged the same amount. It is fine to charge for an x-ray, but for 3 minutes that amount of money????? I lived in a state where my family has been seen by sports medicine orthopedics who take care of professional football players and they charge ONE TIME $248.00 and if you need to recast the patient, they just charge you the material, because it is a follow up visit and they don't charge. The advertising on the radio that this company has is said to be "affordable". They are not affordable at all. Look at the other reviews about just a diagnostic that cost $625.00 and it was wrong. Don't go there. Try to find another place to be treated. read more

I went here when I had a weight machine break on me and fall on my feet. I've been training for years and have met quite a few doctors. They were very good me and had a staff that seemed to be treated well, this is huge to me, if staff are treated well, they treat me well and I need that. I had some issues with the pain med and they let me switch around until I was comfortable which is the way it should be. The bill was actually not bad for what I had experienced, I truly hope they don't get bought out by St. Als or St. Luke's because they are a breath of fresh air. read more

Not quite a 5-star as I had to get an MRI offsite and return to see the doctor (not PA). They found I had a "non-displaced distal fracture of my fibula." Five weeks later I saw the doctor again. After the in-house x-rays, he let me know I was healed and ready to play again. I would use them again...especially now that an office is soon opening in Meridian that will have MRI service on-site. read more

Couldn't be more unhappy with this place. After my mother broke her foot we called ahead because it was close to closing time. We were told that they would be waiting and watching for us. It took 8 minutes to drive there and every one was gone and the doors were locked when we arrived. This was 2 minutes after closing time. And after we were told they would wait for us. On second visit Dr. determined broken. Was then sent to another office at St. Als to get a splint. So much for direct care. To top it off, totally cost was 1k for a tiny fracture. I went to DOC after injuring my shoulder in a fall. I couldn't get into my normal shoulder specialist for a week so I chose to go here instead of a "doc in a box". I was seen within an hour and explained my injury to a nurse. At this point I was not able to lift my arm higher than my waste without extreme pain. An x-ray was taken and a PA told me I had strained it. I explained the pain was reaching a 10 and I didn't believe it was a strain. She told me to take an anti-inflammatory and start PT in 6 weeks. They never even let me see an orthopedist. A day later I was in so much pain all I could do was lie on the floor in tears. My husband called the on call Dr. who said he would NOT see me on a Saturday and suggested I go to the emergency room. I suffered all weekend and Monday went to my orthopedist who diagnosed me with calcific tendonitis and explained it was the most painful shoulder injury one can suffer. I was extremely frustrated with the lack of professionalism and knowledge displayed by DOC. Even though I have full medical coverage, I decided to challenge my bill partly because of the additional medical expense I had to incur due to their misdiagnosis. I called the billing dept. many times to discuss options and never once received a return phone call. Here it is almost a year later, I'm still calling and still no call back. They have sent me to collections and last week someone showed up at my house when my 15 yr. old son was home alone and served HIM with court papers indicating they were suing me. Completely unacceptable. They are completely incompetent and apparently are aware of it since they refuse to discuss the issues with me. I absolutely would NOT recommend them!! read more

This is a fantastic resource for the working people of The Treasure Valley, due to being open 8am to 8pm, Mon-Fri and 10am to 8pm on Sat. and Sun. One phone call is all it takes to see a Orthopedic Dr, or qualified P.A. And the fact that a maximum payment, if choosing to pay cash, is $200.00 for their services. Various insurance plans are accepted also. Nick at the front desk was great and very helpful. The paperwork is simple and to the point. Jeff, the P.A. on duty at the time of my visit, is very professional, thorough and knowledgeable. My particular situation was addressed promptly only minutes after walking through the door. I had a great experience at Direct Orthopedic Care after being frustrated from calling my P.C.P., only to scheduled a full ten days out (while in tremendous pain) and my former orthopedic facility who didn't return my call at all. Having dealt with orthopedics most my life and knowing what should and shoudn't take place I was very disappointed with the out come. I have never had problems after recieving cortisone injections in my knee's and always feel great after. After having them at DOC and it's almost a month later, not only is the pain not gone but it's worse. It cost me more money because I was forced to go to my specialist to figure out what went wrong and had to have another MRI trying to figure out the problem. Also the front desk gal was very rude and acted irritated that I was in there. It wasn't professional at all. For a company that specializes it orthopedics it's a concern that simple things such a cortisone injections can't only be done right, but cost me additional cost after to go to another source to have it fixed. I will discourage my friends and family and in anyone in the Boise area to take the extra time to find orthopedics that know what there doing, instead of throwing money away, that most of us don't have for just another "doc in the box". read more

The PA knew what I had (never saw an orthopedist - just the PA), but he said he wasn't sure & sent me to another orthopedist @ St Al's (ganglian cyst on my wrist).
