Not just mere wax, Diptyque candles are a treat for the senses. They are my absolute favorite candles in the world, what an odd thing to love, but I really do. They are not the cheapest candles, but you really pay for what you get, lovely packaging, the candles come in a simple glass with their cool logo and the name of the candle. The candles last for a long time and they really fill any room you light them in with luscious scent. My favorite is Figuiere, the store is simple like the candles but charming and fragrant.

I've been visiting Cowshed for a couple of years now, dropping in as a frequent traveler on…read morebusiness to London. I'm most familiar with Clarendon Cross but have also visited Primrose Hill and the Selfridges locations. Selfridges is a never return. It's the opposite of relaxing and has more of a busy coffeehouse atmosphere. Plus, the massage was awful. Inexperienced person dousing you with oil. What's the point? Primrose Hill has been my best experience. I went in for a facial and the gals at the front desk are great. I felt great about my service and went on to add mani/pedi and purchase products. The mani/pedi station with the headphones and classic TV on retro sets is a nice touch. Can't speak for massage there. Clarendon Cross was my favorite, at first. It's tucked away in Holland Park and I was able to walk to and from there and my hotel, major plus. Initially, I had several great massages here that helped me tremendously with jet lag. I also had a super helpful speedy facial and chilled in the mani/pedi station watching the episode where Monica asks Chandler to marry her in your favorite new york apartment full of candles (yes!). THEN, the decline. The reception attitude has grown lax in the customer service area. The woman who "welcomed" me today seemed like she preferred I hadn't shown up. My masseuse was yet another amateur. She pumped LOADS of oil all over me and simply has no idea how to touch bodies therapeutically or doesn't care. When I left, reception asked me how it was and I said "alright". She didn't inquire further about my lack of enthusiasm or say anything else at all to me. I waited in the lobby for a cab without being acknowledged or asked if I needed water or given after massage care tips. My car arrived and I left without a word to or from anyone. This was my third bad massage at the Cowsheds, collectively. I will not return. Their customer service has declined and they have lost good masseuses and replaced them with people who I can't imagine are even licensed for body work. Too too bad. I gave you the benefit of the doubt but this is a break up you earned and if your bad service continues, you will not last.

I've had plenty of massages in my life, but I can confidently say that I received the BEST massage…read moreever at Cowshed. After four months of carting around my newborn and being physically exhausted from lack of sleep, I was desperate for a bit of pampering. Fortunately, my mom-in-law had recently given me an online gift certificate to Cowshed! I booked a 45 minute massage with Ashley and entered Cowshed to find a clean, cozy and well decorated spa. The massage itself...no exaggeration, with my eyes closed, I felt like I was lounging on a beach and the waves were massaging me. Ashley's movements/massage were so fluid and there were no awkward pauses while she pumped more oil on her hands or changed positions around the table. I left regretting having not booked a 60 min massage! The spa is not super close to a tube station and it's certainly a bit pricey, however the price will absolutely not keep me from visiting again in the very near future!

Sidenote: if it were me, I'd have named it NK Spa, to avoid the given...SPANK. But, that's me. On to the facial! Appointment via email was easy. Front desk staff and receptionist, super sweet. Helpful. They had not received the correct products for my Eve Lom appointment, but recommend the Oxygen facial with Carol. A fine substitute! It was such an indulgent treat, highly recommend her. 5 healthy, glowing stars for Carol! The treatment was heavenly, deep cleansing, relaxing, and involved SO much massage -- which I love! A real body treatment. My skin looked fresh and plumped when I left and I thought the facial was super high quality. The spa "facilities" on the other hand, look a little worn. Maybe they need an oxygen facial? Maybe they do. The "relaxation room" had stains on the carpet, and some of the furniture was frayed. The books were old, no magazines and an old heater running. What? Where am I? This is a high end establishment with a price menu to match. Refurb the carpets, clean the showers, regrout, retile and step this place up a bit. That is honest feedback from a grounded spa-going gal -- if I am paying that kind of price, I want to feel luxuriated through the process, and the digs here are feeling dated. I actually decided not to take a shower because I felt they looked so icky here, plus there are no beauty products supplied in the changing room. This is a shop that sells lotions, potions and more! Put it on display? Is this not the most missed marketing opportunity ever here? Also the changing room attendant entered and exited the room no less than 10x in the 10 minutes I was in there trying to get my things together, vet the shower situation (ew) and be on my way. It felt intrusive. I wondered if she thought I might be stealing the empty bottle of low grade lotion they did deem fit for the changing room? Perhaps. 1-2 stars on the facilities. Mold in the showers (shakes head). So we average out at a 3, because I must repeat CAROL IS A WONDER WORKER. Go to her. *Gratuity can be added to credit card. *120 GBP, 90 minute treatment.

They have some fab brands here and its not cheap but a great place to come and treat yourself. So given the above I should have given this place five stars right?! Well I would have but the last few times I have gone in her to make a purchase the shop assistants have each time tried to steer me towards more expensive products!!! The first time I just though it was a recommendation the assistant was making on her knowledge but after the second and third time I just was a bit annoyed that they were ruining my experience there! I mean, all the brands are meant to be handpicked by the Nicky Kinnaird so why do they seem to favour the more expensive brands? I know they have to make money but this is not the way to go about it - by irritating their customers!
