He has taken care of my two dogs - an eleven year old Lab and a 1 year old Lab - for a few years now. The quality of his service and his knowledge is very strong. He does their annual check ups and give them immunizations. He spayed by younger dog and gives the older dog acupuncture her for arthritic sore back - it works really well (I was a sceptic, but the dog can visibly walk better once he treats her.) I've had some complicated problems too - once my dog managed to eat a people prescription pill and he was able to quickly determine what to do and help her. His prices are competitive - not super cheap but comparable - but more importantly, I feel like he does no load on questionable extra fees or nickel and dime me for everything. Generally he can see me quick - same day - if I call with an immediate need. He does have some late afternoon appointments which work well for me as a person with a full time job. His office is clean and well equipped. I've seen vets in the past with larger offices, a bigger staff and more expensive upscale buildings, waiting rooms etc. I don't think the care I got there was better, just more expensive. Plus I always got the feeling those places were a little to ready to suggest some extra test that might not be needed. In contrast, with Dr. Rodgers I feel like I am getting quality care and quality time from a professional who had the best interest of me and my pets in mind. I "wag my tail" for Dr. Rodgers.... hope that is not too silly :)

I unfortunately have a cat that has aged and is experiencing some incontinence and is having trouble passing stool as what little amount produced appeared to have blood in it. So as a concerned pet owner I made a call to an independent mobile vet who would be willing to euthanize for over $1100. The cat is not in pain as it is walking, eating and drinking so I got some puppy pads and pumpkin puree to help with stool softening in hopes her situation would improve. I then decided to call this organization blind thru a google search and explained what was occurring and are there any other solutions or answers they might have for me as I am relying upon their expertise/advice. I was given a quote for the possible putting down of my family cat which mind you was reasonable compared to the previous quote I received from the mobile vet people. I then stated that as the cat is not presently suffering as eating, playing with string, purring and I will keep an eye on her and figure it out over the weekend to see if her condition improves and then handle it accordingly as I don't want to see her suffer in any way. That was it. End of conversation EXCEPT less then an hour later i RECEIVED A PHONE CALL FROM MY LOCAL POLICE DEPRTMENT CLAIMING THAT I THREATENED TO WRAP CAT IN BLANKET AND STRANGLE IT!!!!!!. Are you OUT OF YOUR MIND!!! This had nothing to do with the Vet themselves as I was speaking to person at reception/ front desk who apparently TOOK IT UPON THEMSELEVS TO FABRICATE A MALICIOUS AND DEVIANT LIE TO THE LOCAL AUTHORITIES MAKING AN OUTRGEOUS AND HARMFULL CLAIM. I have done nothing but treated this cat like royalty and was calling vets to determine course of action I may have to take is cat doesn't improve or appears to be in pain. I am aware of how cats mask the pain and she is my sixth/seventh cat I have had with my family thru my lifetime so I am well versed on animal care having had pets my whole life. For this individual to go out of their way to concoct such a horrible allegation is troubling and concerning on a few levels, Luckily the individual at animal control was reasonable and understanding stating and I quote "something about their call didn't feel right." I ask you, the public/Jury- how can this happen where one person can lie and then create a mini dramatic event where I felt I had to not only refute their claims of course but defend and explain my actions to the local authorities. THERE WAS NEVER ANY CONVERATION ABOUT HURTING OR HARMING THIS PET AS THE MERE IMPLICATION OF ANIMAL ABUSE DISGUSTING AND MAILICIOUS. I FEEL THIS IS ACTIONABLE as I am NOT litigious but the anxiety, sadness and stress I have dealt with since this occurred on top of seeing a beloved family pet declining has kept me awake to early morning hours. This was not right, completely fabricated and done with intent as to make up a horrible story about wrapping a cat in a blanket and killing it is way way way out of line and to me, an indication to how unbalanced, mean spirited and let's just say WHACK-O that particular individual is. I am literally besides myself and this is an absolute betrayal as I called them seeking advice and quote of euthanizing an animal if it comes to that end. Instead, I have LOCAL POLICE calling. I commend the authorities for seeing thru this ruse as what were the expectations?- To get me in trouble or cause turmoil as you succeeded in that objective. I will be speaking further on this matter to the necessary channels as this behavior is so abhorrent it makes me sick to my stomach. So be careful folks...if you randomly call them for a question or concern you too may end up having to explain yourself to the police. I stated to the officer conducting investigation that there are two sides to every coin as I have no idea what provoked this person to do what they did but I assure any reader who has made it this far that my there is no motivation for me to lie here. I am stating exactly what happened yet I'm sure when your dealing with a liar like this they will come up with some sort of victimhood approach. It is disgusting to me that they would be allowed to propagate some animal abuse myth as I do not appreciate it and it is well withing my right to stand in front of your entrance/ off your property line with sign calling you a liar as how dare you.

Here is my story: My dog, Stovin (an almost 4 year old white standard poodle) has been struggling with Addison's disease for over a year and has always had gastrointestinal issues since he was a puppy. Since the beginning I have turned to traditional veterinary medicine for the answers (Angell Memorial Hospital in Jamaica Plain, MA), which makes sense... well at least it did until I decided to try acupuncture for my own self care a few month ago. In mid-March of this year Stovin was 47 Lbs and on literally 10 different medications and was facing GI surgery and a diagnosis of epilepsy when I turned to Dr. Roman having found her in a directory as a homeopathic veterinarian that offered acupuncture (if it is good enough to make me feel better I was hoping it would help my poodle). During Stovin's first vet consultation he could barely lift his head, I couldn't sleep because of worry, and I could tell I was losing him because he stopped eating entirely. He had been hospitalized at Angell Memorial Hospital twice between March and April at the tune of $7000 (i kid you not) and here we were in Dr. Roman's clinic and he literally couldn't stand up for more than a few moments at a time... It is May 1st as I write this review having returned from Dr. Roman's and Stovin is a puppy once again full of energy, bright eyed, and weighing in at 59 Lbs. The answer to his turn around: Dr. Roman, nutritional supplements, homeopathic medicine with O3 treatment. MASH saved Stovin I have no doubt about it... To say that Dr. Roman's clinic isn't busy would be an understatement she is saving pets literally by the car load... when I was there last week she had a dog that was coming from Tufts because the owner was told that it had to have a leg removed and Dr. Roman was trying to help. Emergencies happen and honestly go to an emergency room in a hospital and one can wait for a few hours. When you take your pet to MASH have the time to spend, check your expectations at the door this is not traditional veterinary medicine and that is why one gets results. Dr. Roman and the staff at MASH truly care and I thank them and drive all the way from Jamaica Plain to have the privilege of having my pets truly cared for.

Unlike the other vets office, I appreciated how Dr. McNeill cares about the wellbeing of pets and tells you exactly what shots are necessary and try to push any extras. She took a look at Clint's previous vaccinations and said he'd been given shots which were unnecessary given his age. The other office had also charged me $42 for a probiotic to sprinkle on his food. At the end of the visit Clint was given a "new puppy package" with some kibble, treats and a toy. He loves the squeaky stuffed moon and hasn't stopped carrying it around!

I cannot begin to relay how heartbreaking our need for Dr Maxfields services was. Our almost 12…read moreyear old Pit-bull was recently diagnosed with osteosarcoma. It came out of nowhere and debilitated her very quickly. The day came when we knew that we needed to put our desires to keep her with us aside as it was outweighed by her need for peace. It was a Friday evening and another vet that we were reffered to by a friend advised us we were out of her service area and gave us a few names in our area. After thoroughly reviewing the options we decided that Dr Maxfield would best fit our needs. I called and left a v-mail and heard back from her via text very quickly. She gave me the options of the following day or Monday and we didn't want to risk our baby breaking a leg or something horrible happening between Friday and Monday so we went with Saturday. She let me know it could be early afternoon. She called in the morning and told me the time and answered any questions I had, although I didn't have many as her website is very informative. It was a beautiful day. The birds were chirping, the hawks were squawking, it was not humid or too hot or overcast in any way. We brought our baby girl out to the deck with her bed and she enjoyed the warm sun and cool breeze. When Dr Maxfield got there she gently introduced herself to our sweet girl and then explained exactly what she would do and about how long the process would take. She comforted us by listening to what we and our sweet girl had been going through for the last 6 weeks. She listened while we told her all about our sweet baby girl and how she came to be ours. She let us know we were making the right decision and that if it was her she would have done the same thing. This helped us immensely. She was so kind and compassionate and so considerate of our feelings. She allowed us to take all the time we needed to say goodbye. She made all of the arrangements with the local pet crematory and she delivered our sweet girl there herself. We didn't need to worry about a thing. I know how heartbreaking it is to make the decision to give a furbaby their angel wings and end their suffering, but it makes it just a bit easier knowing you have someone so caring, like Dr. Maxfield there to ease them in their transition.
