Full disclosure: We planned on going to Halgeson's, but it was closed, so we just kept trucking along to Ding-A-Ling. Since we didn't call ahead, we weren't sure what the wait would be. When we walked in, it was a little confusing as to where to check in. The host area is actually on the far back end of the bar, so just flag someone down. We only had to wait 15 minutes, which was shocking for 6 pm on a Saturday. The bartender was so friendly and made some great old fashions! The prices were extremely reasonable, which led my husband to snag the all you can eat prime rib meal (only first day of each month), AND a side of scallops (because scallops are his favorite). I got the 10 ounce filet, and our cousin got the chicken fajitas. The waitress was extremely friendly! You get a choice of soup or salad with your meal, as well as a potato. They give you a basket of crackers and buns with your starters too. I actually went with hash browns for once and they were delicious, along with EVERYTHING else! My husband got two servings for his all you can eat, and said the prime rib was so good! Scallops were yummy, but not the absolutely best he's ever had. Just delicious food all around. I wish we had room for dessert, because they had such amazing choices!

Perch fish fry with hashbrowns covered with swiss cheese. Sorry - it looked so good I had to taste it before I took the picture.

I heard an ad on the radio for this place and had to check it out. What a great place for a Friday Night Fish Fry. They had our table ready for us quickly. The service is good, but the dining room can be tight when filled with hungry people. I ordered the lightly battered perch with hash-brown potatoes covered with Swiss cheese. This was some of the best perch I have tasted, except for the ones I caught and prepared myself. A true supper club needs to serve ice cream deserts and they certainly covered this need. I ordered a grasshopper and was not disappointed. The others in my group were also very satisfied with their meal. We all left with a full stomach and very happy. I would recommend this place to anyone - top notch and worth the drive. Call ahead for reservation and they will have your table ready.

Always a good drop while looking for a Wisconsin Supper Club. Locally owned and staffed by small town locals. A friendly place that really tries to please Steaks thumbs up and my Cod Fish Fry was good. Our young waitress worked very hard to keep the food coming for myself and three guests.

This supper club is a gem!! Found them on Yelp and in a book called Wisconsin Supper Clubs. Greeted the minute we walked in the door. Staff is friendly. Knowledgeable about the menu. Made great recommendations for food and drink. Generous portions. Priced right. Will definitely be back.

My whole family had another wonderful dinner experience. It was packed, so it was a bit louder, but we didn't mind. We were distracted by all the food. The cheese curds were lightly breaded and fried perfectly. They even had a bit of a squeak. The haystacks were enjoyed even by my family who didn't like onions. The prize app were the pork bellies. Tender, meaty, and covered with a sweet tangy bourbon glaze. I could've eaten those as an entree! My filet was a perfect med-rare. Tender with just the right amount of char. The ribeye was prepared with the same tender perfection as well. My son, who lives in Chicago, said his steak rivaled those of the steakhouses in Windy City. He really enjoyed his filet. The scallops were seared to perfection, and they were nestled in a bed of soft, warm, creamy risotto. And I mean CREAMY. It's the way they should be made. HPSH doesn't skimp either on the number of scallops; we had to box up the rest. We didn't have room for dessert, but we did box some up for later.....and they tasted great. Can't wait til our next visit to High Point!

He also upgraded to the lobster bisque and it was good but definitely didn't taste homemade. We had eaten so much we didn't have room for dessert. The service was good, our server was kind and friendly and checked back a few times. The server assistants were absolutely amazing with keeping waters full and plates cleared. I don't like sitting at the tables here so when I made the reservation I requested a booth. We arrived and they took us to a table. I again asked for a booth and luckily there was something available. The booths here offer warmth and comfort while the table seats are cold and unpleasant. Overall a nice visit and enjoyable evening.

We ordered the saganaki to start, which was flambéed table side and it was fresh and delicious. We shared the porterhouse and the lamb chops (which were loins, not ribs) and there was an extra $8 charge on shared plates. The porterhouse was very tasty and cooked to perfection. The filet portion was my favorite part. The lamb loin chops were very thick and came with 4 large pieces. Each order came with a side salad or soup, and some type of potato, with many options to choose from. I love the Greek influence on this steak house restaurant. When I called to make our reservation, I let the staff know we were coming in for our 10-year anniversary. When we arrived, I also mentioned it to the host (the bald gentleman with glasses). He responded with, "Well, your wife is right behind you--there goes the surprise," as if she wouldn't know it was our anniversary. At no point during the evening did anyone acknowledge our celebration or even say "Happy anniversary." I even asked our waiter, Pat M., whether anyone had told him we were celebrating anything. He said no--that no one had informed him we were there for our anniversary. We didn't come expecting free food, dessert, or anything special. But not acknowledging our anniversary at all--especially after we mentioned it twice--was frustrating. Every other place we've celebrated at has at least offered a simple "Happy anniversary," if not a dessert, flowers on the table, or a personalized menu. Log Cabin truly dropped the ball, and I believe the host is largely to blame.

Ambiance is "steakhouse chic" - nice and dark, not too loud, romantic in a booth. It wasn't too busy when we stopped in late on Sunday and we were greeted and seated in a nice, quiet booth. Two pieces of bread were brought out with a nice salted butter. I went with their 9 ounce Filet Mignon, medium rare, with sautéed spinach, while my wife had their Chicken and Artichoke meal with mixed vegetables. I ordered their Caesar salad with anchovies (you have to ask for them). The Caesar salad was just wonderful, with plenty of salty anchovy goodness present. My wife ordered their chop salad, but they'd run out of that, so she got a house salad instead - and yes, the server did inform us of the switch and made a cost adjustment without being asked. A high point of Ellwood is an above-average wine list. We tried a new cabernet which was good. The wine bottle was opened by the server without it touching the table - nicely done! The steak was cooked properly, and was oh so tender. Very nicely seasoned. The sautéed spinach was perfect - plenty of garlic. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her dish. Dinner was so good, any thoughts of dessert were abandoned. We had wine left over, so they put that in the right sealed bag with a receipt so it could be legally transported.
