It's a vehicle that's not all that commonly available in this part of the country, and our price limit was right at the limit of what would be reasonable. He listened to us very carefully, asked lots of important questions, then set out on what can only be properly described as a "quest" -- and FOUND exactly what we were looking for! He was able to negotiate a great deal on it for us, then brought it back to the shop. This is where it gets even more wonderful, because the shop is known for being owned and operated by a mechanic with a sterling personal reputation and professional credentials, having trained in a shop up in Guilford, VT that is literally known as the very best one in the whole area. They assured us they'd go through and fix anything and everything on the vehicle that needed tweeking or repair before we picked it up, to make sure it was up to THEIR standards of excellence -- and that the price would not go above our limit even if they had to eat some of the cost. They explained this is because they shopped for the vehicle with their mechanical expertise, so if it cost more to fix it was that they'd assessed it wrong and should make good on it. Well, long story short, we took delivery of exactly the used vehicle we wanted, in perfect shape, looking like it came off a showroom floor, and it's everything we could have dreamed and hoped for. In the process, we found a mechanic we'll use and trust from now on, and made friends to boot! It's not easy to find a really superior mechanic and shop that has a personal value system based on ethics of doing what's right. Green River Auto is that place! And if you want a used car, I honestly do not see how you can do ANY better than you will if you go talk to Doug there. If he can't find it for you, it's not available. I've lived all over the country, from Texas to California and back again, and I have NEVER found a shop like this one, and never even imagined a person like Doug existed. They also left the sway bar…read morelinks off of my car, and it was flying all over the road on the highway. left for Rhode Island shortly after and ended up having to have it towed somewhere there because the vacuum brake booster they supposedly replaced turned out not to be replaced at all. I had to pay over 200$ to replace my sway bar links. Then another 200$ in diagnostic fees again. They returned my call months later but only after I filed a dispute. They want your money but want don't want to fix your vehicle. I just wanted it to go back to them to actually repair the issues that they didn't fix but I didn't trust them after all the problems. I had brake issues after they repaired them, smoking brakes and rotors etc. Hundreds in rental car fees because my car couldn't be driven because of the faulty brake booster. Also the same shock and strut they claimed to have repaired was still leaking. Very fishy. Now threatening legal action because I disputed the charges. (I won because I had papers stating repairs were not done, and still needed repair and I went to two different places to confirm this just to be sure before I disputed the charges!) You risked my children's safety leaving components off that control stability and not doing the repairs stated. If it were one thing that maybe didn't get fixed I'd say it was a fluke, but this is pretty crazy.

The woman who works there is quite grumpy and is bothered when you ask her when your car will be ready. Trying to plan your day or a ride to pick up your vehicle is really frustrating. Getting info on cost so you can prepare for your pickup is also drama. I just wish they were kinder. Like a hello, goodbye, or thanks for your business or something is usually a good choice. I will probably start looking for another mechanic because I don't enjoy feeling like my business is a pain in the ass.
