He sold his old pizza place to new owners and taught them all this tricks but they never convinced me to come back to this place. The pizza's are always excellent and the crust is nicely thin and crispy due to the fact that the dough has risen twice. This is Renato's secret to a great crust. The quality of the toppings and ingredients are very high and always from local organic produce (tomatoes, basil and cheese) or taken straight back from Italy. Renato goes back to his home country at least twice a year to bring the best ingredients home. He even makes his own spicy olive oil! Ask Renato if you can buy a bottle to take back home. My Vale 47 named after Valantino Rossi, was superb. Nice touch adding the homemade buffalo mozzarella after cooking to cool down the spicy meats. The Gorizza topped with grilled peppers, salame picante and blue cheese has always been my favorite. This is real Italian pizza made in the traditional way, they offer Italian genuine appetizers and special dishes if you ask for them. Nice desserts to round it all off. The homemade tiramisu is excellent! The cosy restaurant is stylishly decorated, the staff are always very friendly. I never eat pizza in Amsterdam anymore and always keep coming back to this family run business. Make sure to reserve a table if you want to enjoy Renato's pizza's. More so while traveling overseas to know what's nearby. With that said, I located New York Pizza on my yelp app for my iPhone my last night in Amsterdam/Hoofddorp. It was particularly meaningful, since I was away from my home country for a week traveling in Europe and needed that piece of home to remember. Pizza sounded good just about any time of day. The great news was that New York Pizza was about 2 blocks from my hotel (Hotel de Buers), so it was a quick walk and a hop there. Much like pizza joints in the states, this one was mostly a take away restaurant. The order took about 20 minutes from start to finish. I wasn't really in a hurry, so I just waited inside the store. It was your typical pizza joint, just only the fact that a few of the staff knew English. Kind of ironic when the restaurant is pure Americana. Guess that's how it is nowadays. I was glad that they knew English to help this American with ordering a pizza. :) The experience was short and sweet. Most of their pizzas were reasonably priced, so that wasn't an issue. The New York Pizza (take away) restaurant is located at Kruisweig 170 in Hoofddorp, in a cluster of commercial spaces in a large residential subdivision. Hoofddorp train station is nearby. There is street parking for those who drive, but also public transit routes #140 and #145 for those who love to commute by bus - like myself. You'd get off at Marketplein stop. The best of all amenity was that they do accept major credit cards, which is always a good thing. Since I was there anyway, there was a refrigerator filled with Ben & Jerry's ice cream. I think for €6 or €7, you can get the large size. Sometimes, it's definitely worth the extra money to have the goodness of home, especially when it's Ben & Jerry's! I ultimately bought the medium sized barbecue chicken pizza and I ate it all in one sitting. I just was too ravenous for my own good at the time. It certainly hit the spot! The pizza itself was delicious, as I had it pretty much straight from the oven. The mixture of the barbecue and cheese, along with it being a pizza made it's delectable debut in my mouth, and it was a dream symphonic production right from the get go! Never would I have had a pizza that was just so good, but when you're missing a piece of home, it felt really good to have a slice of Americana anywhere your travels take you. The Ben & Jerry's ice cream topped off the sensational meal. Certainly a good spot for pizza if you are in the Hoofddorp area of Amsterdam! I would recommend this one to one and all. So good! The owner welcomed us and made sure we had a table, even though we had to leave for a little while because we forgot something. We ordered a salad, which was nice, but not great and we ordered pizza which was very good. We each had a different red wine from Italy and they were both good. The music was not too loud and they played nice songs, and there are three big screens with changing slides of scenery in Italy, which is fun. We would probably come back here.
