After a few months of her symptoms getting progressively worse (she lost close to 50lbs!), she came to Dr. Faybush in pretty bad shape both physically and mentally. Saved my husbands life. Sometimes calling someone a life saver is hyperbole but not in this…read moreinstance. Last September my husband was hospitalized with severe necrotizing pancreatitis which became infected. During over three months in hospital he came under the care of Dr Khosravi, his main physician, Dr. Nawaz, Dr. Sachdev and Dr. Hamad. My husband was much too ill to survive traditional surgery to clean out the necroma so Dr. Khosravi led the team through numerous lengthy and tedious procedures to remove the dead tissue endoscopically. After his discharge from hospital my husband had two more procedures as an out patient. It was great to see Dr. Khosravi's smile when he said what I had long been waiting to hear. He finished cleaning out the collection and removed the stent that allowed access. What is important for me to know as I consider going to a physician includes level of expertise and skill and how the patient and family is treated. Dr. Khosravi and his team have a level of expertise and skill that based on my research as well as personal experience is unmatched in this area. During my husbands last necrosectomy Dr. Khosravi was able to use a tool he requested the hospital obtain. He removed as much necrotic tissue in one session, than had taken him six or seven sessions without. Fewer procedures under anesthesia will only help speed the recovery of patients needing this care. To my knowledge, there are no other physicians able to use that equipment locally, if anywhere in Arizona. I have never had to wait more than 15 min., and Dr. K is easy to talk to, willing to partner with us crusty old people--and he is a reassuring presence when you most need one. They have their own out patient surgical clinic and, yes, they will probably recommend that you have testing there. My experience was that the testing was the key to discovering the real problems. I did not ever feel that they were doing more than was needed in order to help me. The results pretty much support that impression. I can make social commitments and know that I will NEVER be humiliated by an uncontrollable bowel again. They gave me back my confidence, and I cannot thank them enough.

They claim they can't list me by my actual first name, because it's abbreviated on my insurance card. My insurance knows it's abbreviated and they have my full legal name. And even if their system is that complicated, there's no preferred name option? Really? So they will refer to me as a single letter instead of my actual name. I've never run into this problem before at a medical provider office and I've been to many using the same insurance card. Imagine being taken back to have a procedure done under anesthesia and the assistant you've never met tries to greet you but doesn't know what to call you because your name is missing on your paperwork, and it's just a letter. Imagine they try to call your driver back after you're done, and they don't know what to announce. Imagine you get texts after your procedure, referring to you as a single letter instead of your first name. That's exactly what happened, and I was really surprised. It's poor customer service. It creates confusion and discomfort when you're already in a vulnerable position. I work at a medical office and I can't imagine treating a patient like that. It's such a basic standard to call people by their name. I let the office know my concern and they said they can't do anything about it. I'll go elsewhere next time.

After I was handed the paperwork the 2 people resumed having their personal conversation about all kinds of personal things. Turns out 1 is the receptionist but 1 is a provider, very glad I did not have that provider as they also didn't greet me as I was standing there in the beginning, I consider personal conversations everyone can hear very clearly to be quite unprofessional. The nurse was very nice but while she was taking my vitals, someone else knocked on the door, asked if the nurse was in there and then if she had the "vitals basket" which she did BECAUSE SHE WAS TAKING MY VITALS. I found this pretty unprofessional as well, the vitals and few questions took very little time, the other person could have waited patiently, it's not like her coworker was hiding. I saw Steve and he was great! He believed me, he did NOT say all my problems were because I was fat and he had a plan. He explained the plan, he sent in the prescriptions and he told me what to do and that if the plan didn't work here are the orders for testing so I could go get it done without calling back in or waiting for the next appointment. So Steve saved it all by treating me like a human and having a plan in his field and thinking ahead to save me time. I loved it and wish every Dr's appointment went like that. I can put up with the small slights and weirdness of the other staff if this is how appointments are going to go.
