As far as medical practices go, this place is bottom of the barrel. And I don't say that lightly…read more It's not just the poor aesthetics of the facility which are bad enough but the unprofessional, disrespectful staff that make this location truly unacceptable. I arrived 10 minutes early for my appointment, only to find the front desk completely unattended. Several staff members were sitting off to the side but deliberately avoided eye contact. After standing there for about three minutes, I finally asked, "Is anyone working?" Only then did two women appear from behind the wall, already irritated that I dared to ask for assistance. From that moment on, the interaction was filled with passive-aggressive behavior and reactive hostility. If I said "thank you," I was ignored yet when others said the same, they received cheerful responses. When I politely asked questions about the intake form, I had to repeat myself several times while the receptionist pretended not to hear me. Even returning the iPad became an opportunity for them to be petty; I set it down near one woman, and the other snapped that I "could have handed it to her" then they exchanged looks as if I was the problem. Their behavior also carried undertones of bias and discrimination, which made the entire experience even more uncomfortable. To make matters worse, I later discovered that I'd been misled about my insurance coverage. Originally, I had a tele-health appointment scheduled, but they told me my insurance no longer covered remote visits. I took them at their word and rescheduled for an in-person appointment. After sitting in the waiting area for over 30 minutes watching others who arrived after me get called back I decided to verify directly with my insurer. To my disbelief, I learned they had lied: my plan still does cover tele-health visits. By that point, it was clear they were weaponizing time to retaliate against a patient who simply expected basic respect. So, I canceled my appointment and left. It's no wonder this clinic has such low ratings. The staff here are rude, dishonest, and emotionally unfit to work in health care. 0/10 - would not recommend. Anyone working in patient care who behaves with pettiness, revenge, or prejudice needs to seek mental health treatment themselves before being allowed to serve the public. No patient deserves to be treated this way.

I am…read morecurrently working with Dr. Kohsla on figuring out some gastro-related issues and I feel his office and staff have been pretty responsive. The only thing that is aggravating is that it's hard to schedule appointments for things like follow-ups. It seems they're very busy and can't fit people in for follow-ups. Dr. Kohsla's medical assistant, Zoe, is super responsive, however and they're able to still provide treatment and recommendations without having an appointment, which is nice. Another challenge I'm having is regarding the facility fee they charge. When I showed up for my procedure in June I was asked to pay $145.50 and when I asked what it was for, it was explained to me that it was coinsurance for the procedure and that the amount would be deducted off of anything else I could potentially owe. This was misinformation and the amount I was charged was for the facility fee, not coinsurance. The facility never sent this to my insurance so it's not reflecting in my deductible or my out-of-pocket max and trying to get this resolved with the facility has been EXTREMELY difficult. They won't return my insurance company's calls and when I asked for an itemized bill to file the claim myself, they sent some bogus document over that my insurance company won't accept. It has been four months of back and forth with no resolution. They seem to think I'm disputing the facility fee, which isn't the case, I just want the amount to reflect in my out-of-pocket max/deductible. Navigating the American healthcare system is always challenging. The doctor's billing company also made an error and coded my procedure incorrectly, which caused a huge problem with my insurance company that took months to fix. Overall, I felt like the doctor and staff were very compassionate and did good work. I think Dr. Kohsla knows what he's doing and is a doctor I can trust. I am also very impressed with his medical assistant, Zoe. I just wish they had more availability for existing patients and a more responsive and accurate billing system. If they nailed those areas, this would be a 5-star review.

They claim they can't list me by my actual first name, because it's abbreviated on my insurance card. My insurance knows it's abbreviated and they have my full legal name. And even if their system is that complicated, there's no preferred name option? Really? So they will refer to me as a single letter instead of my actual name. I've never run into this problem before at a medical provider office and I've been to many using the same insurance card. Imagine being taken back to have a procedure done under anesthesia and the assistant you've never met tries to greet you but doesn't know what to call you because your name is missing on your paperwork, and it's just a letter. Imagine they try to call your driver back after you're done, and they don't know what to announce. Imagine you get texts after your procedure, referring to you as a single letter instead of your first name. That's exactly what happened, and I was really surprised. It's poor customer service. It creates confusion and discomfort when you're already in a vulnerable position. I work at a medical office and I can't imagine treating a patient like that. It's such a basic standard to call people by their name. I let the office know my concern and they said they can't do anything about it. I'll go elsewhere next time.

After I was handed the paperwork the 2 people resumed having their personal conversation about all kinds of personal things. Turns out 1 is the receptionist but 1 is a provider, very glad I did not have that provider as they also didn't greet me as I was standing there in the beginning, I consider personal conversations everyone can hear very clearly to be quite unprofessional. The nurse was very nice but while she was taking my vitals, someone else knocked on the door, asked if the nurse was in there and then if she had the "vitals basket" which she did BECAUSE SHE WAS TAKING MY VITALS. I found this pretty unprofessional as well, the vitals and few questions took very little time, the other person could have waited patiently, it's not like her coworker was hiding. I saw Steve and he was great! He believed me, he did NOT say all my problems were because I was fat and he had a plan. He explained the plan, he sent in the prescriptions and he told me what to do and that if the plan didn't work here are the orders for testing so I could go get it done without calling back in or waiting for the next appointment. So Steve saved it all by treating me like a human and having a plan in his field and thinking ahead to save me time. I loved it and wish every Dr's appointment went like that. I can put up with the small slights and weirdness of the other staff if this is how appointments are going to go.
