Every year as the Christmas holidays approach, we traditionally put decorated artificial wreaths on all of the grave markers...my wife spends a significant amount of time decorating the wreaths to make a nice dignified presentation. You would think, with no winter lawn/property maintenance required, that the grave holiday decorations could remain on the graves for longer than a 2-3 week period before they are removed and discarded! People spend a significant amount of money for the many holiday commemorative markers just to have them automatically removed & discarded after a relatively short period of time! I can understand this for fresh wreaths & greenery which will eventually die and deteriorate anyway but artificial markers will be revitalized and re-used every year. It wouldn't be so bad if the cemetery would post the "cleanup dates" on their website but the only notification given is a sign near the cemetery entrance showing the date the cleanup will begin...for those not living near the cemetery or not visiting very often, they never become aware of the date and, if they arrive too late, arrive to find all of the decorations no longer on the graves but in piles to eventually be discarded. Would it be THAT much of an issue to post the cleanup date on the website for improved awareness or, for that matter, to extend the cleanup date until the end of January to provide a more significant time period to have the graves decorated for the holidays?

Today we had a graveside funeral for a relative on the coldest day of the year so far. We turned…read moredown the road that led us to the gravesite and this dark haired woman in a dark SUV who was from the cemetery was blocking our way. She told us to back up and follow the arrows. We were literally about 10 feet from where we needed to be. We backed up and followed the arrows only to be blocked by a tractor and a bunch of men and they wouldn't move so again we had to back up and return to the original road. Thankfully that woman left and we could get to the funeral. Truthfully this woman was wrong. She should have told us that she would move to let us by. I have to say that this was an inconvenience for us. We have a lot of relatives buried there. But we will not be joining them there. On top of that we were charged an additional $500 because other stones needed to be moved to get to our aunts plot and this was sprung on us last minute.

After emailing them, I received a phone call from David Lambie to talk to me personally about what we were looking for (cremation,  memorial service,  live streaming,  death certificates,  social security and Medicare notifications, paperwork to fly the ashes internationally)and the costs.    David was kind and caring.  He took his time and explained the processes, step by step.     A week and a half later, my father passed away. I called David just after midnight.  He was there within half an hour to pick up my dad.      The next day, we met with David and worked out the obituary and the rest of the arrangements.   He listened to us, and he made thoughtful suggestions.  Over the next few days, he was patient and attentive as we edited the obituary   and memorial cards several times.  He added and edited our picture montage several times as well.  He was always patient, and kind and sympathetic. He and his lovely wife, Dana, recommended several restaurants for our post memorial reception.    On the day of the Celebration of Life he had someone in the parking lot upon our arrival, ready to help us bring in our pictures, photo albums,  and other props. From the moment we walked in the door, David was there and ready to help us set up our memory vignettes.  My dad had multiple businesses throughout his life and we set up stations that payed homage to his entrepreneurial endeavors.      David went above and beyond.  We had family across the country who were not able to fly in for the services. David started the live feed an hour early so our family members could watch the reception before the services and eulogies started.      The services and eulogies were heart warming and stirring.   At the end of everything,  we had so many people approach us and compliment us on the best funeral that they had ever attended.   I don't know about you,  but I've never been to a funeral that was such a stand out,  that I wanted to remark about it to the family.  We heard it over and over again.   This was all made possible by David & Dana Lambie.    When we were leaving,  David & Dana had everything ready for us.  They had a flash drive of the services, the guest book, the framed picture of my father from the memorial service, and the paperwork we would need to transport the ashes internationally.        They were thorough and efficient, warm and caring.  I can't say enough wonderful things about them.   I would recommend them highly.   They are professional,  effective,  compassionate and a credit to their profession.  When you need funeral services,  know that these people will handle every detail with the utmost care.   David and Dana Lambie are absolutely fantastic!

Unbelievable Price Gouging During a Time of Grief…read more I am deeply disgusted by the outrageous pricing and corporate greed of Roosevelt Memorial Park (a Dignity Memorial / SCI facility). My father is entombed in the mausoleum here, and following my sister's passing, our family wanted to place her cremated remains inside the crypt alongside him and have her name added to the plaque. For this basic service of opening the crypt cover, placing an urn inside, and adding her name, Roosevelt Memorial Park quoted us a staggering $7,935.00. They did adjust the price to $7,000.00 once I pushed back on the amount. Knowing this price was absurd, I reached out to several other cemeteries and memorial facilities in the local area to compare costs. The exact same service at other reputable locations ranged from $2,675 to $4,500. Roosevelt's quote is nearly triple the local starting rate and thousands of dollars above the high end of the market I researched. Exploiting grieving families who already have loved ones interred at your facility and feel trapped into using your services is predatory. Dignity Memorial should be ashamed of these practices. Save yourself the heartbreak and financial extortion and look elsewhere before buying into a facility owned by this company.

I am thankful. So very thankful." This took some time, part of that extended by the pandemic; some by distance. However, throughout this 9 month process, Larry never became impatient. He worked with me, answered my questions, and once we had a design selected he gave me updates due to supply chain issues. I highly recommend Larry and his extended team. They made a difficult process easier, and created joy and comfort with their work.
