I had been referred to D/A by UMC for a colonoscopy. Procedure was an unqualified success. Dr Carlson, I believe. I subsequently schedule an O/V for some lower G/I issues I had, and while it took 2 months for an appt., it went smoothly. At the end of that appt. I scheduled an O/V for my wife who appeared to be having serious G/I issues. The soonest they could take her was 2 1/2 months down stream in Jan-25. However, in late Dec, she was advised that because so many M.D.s have left the organization, if she still wanted the appt., she would have to wait until late Feb. At this time we are waiting for another referral from UMC. While D/A appears to do O.K. with PACs handling the OVs, they need to do a better job on staffing or else they shouldn't take on new patients. read more

Today I tried to schedule a check up, there office took 25 minutes to tell me I cannot be seen and if I schedule with someone else I can no longer see Dr McDermott, this office is a joke. They have no followup or support for there patients lacking compassion or resolution. MRI completed 5/2025 No follow-up 6/2025 Requested results, only available is on 8/2025, was told to contact primary care for results if that didn't work. Then told to call daily for any cancels 6/2025 Called requesting no show appointment, they tried to provide a new August appointment Requested to speak to supervisor Gloria still waiting. As I wait to see if I have a health issue there no sense of urgency or even compassion for there patients.. DO NOT GO TO THIS PRACTICE!!! I have yet to receive my results and/or have them read to me since my appt in April/May. I've requested an appt and the appt was 3 mos out which is ridiculous when it's just results! On their website they advertise tele-med but no one in the office knows anything about it-so apparently they don't offer it! The office mgr Gloria was supposed to call me back a month ago so I followed up, left a msg for her and I was told that she would call me back by the end of day and it's been another week. They offered to send my results to my new primary care which I haven't even seen yet. But they are the specialists and they are the ones that should be addressing this issue! I've tried during the morning, around 11AM, around 1PM, around 3PM, and around 4PM. Always somehow busy, never able to pick up the phone in less than 30 minutes. This will be the most accurate review anyone can possibly read and fathom. Back in August of 2023 myself and my wife on the same day went with Doctor Nasim McDermott for our Colonoscopies. I met Doctor Nasim while I was at Summerlin Hospital, she was overseeing some of my organs before I had my gallbladder removed by another Doctor. I thought she was an awesome pick due to her expertise, but read on bellow and beware of how they treat you after you get in with them! Needless to say the office visit should of been the first sign of being an utter joke, making a phone appointment was practically impossible. They do not always return phone calls / voicemails. It took me 4 tries to get an appointment with Doctor Nasim and when I finally did she was booked months out. When we finally actually met with her she scheduled us both for our Colonoscopies. after our procedures were done, I was diagnosed with Diverticular disease which I already knew about, the next was Gastritis which I never understood or heard, and finally Hemorrhoid's. Now did she remove a single Hemorrhoid, nope, did they give any medication or full explanation of what Gastritis is and what flare ups might feel like or what foods may trigger it, again nope, and finally Diverticular disease, and again nope no information or medication. Sure enough on October 9th, I called her office multiple / a plethora of times, to be exact 10 plus times, because they SUCK at answering phones and I left 3 messages with my full name, phone number, and the symptoms I was having full on. Did I receive a courtesy call back, nope! On my 10th try of reaching out to them I finally was able to reach a rep who BROKEN ENGLISH FULL BLOWN COULDN'T UNDERSTAND WHAT THE HELL SHE WAS SAYING! So she puts me on with her Supervisor who had broken English as well, but not as bad. I requested to leave a message for the Doctor or a Nurse Practitioner. He told me I would receive a call back that night or early morning by Doctor Nasim McDermott or the Practitioner. No return call period, ended up in the Hospital on October 11th at Summerlin Hospital with severe upper abdominal pain and other symptoms. Did the Doctor bother checking up on me or reaching out to me, nope! Then I find out on October 17th I was scheduled to see the Nurse Practitioner for a follow up after doing the colonoscopy, but this is where I laugh at this F'D UP OFFICE AND DOCTOR WHO COULD GIVE TWO SHITS ABOUT THERE PATIENTS! Why would you not call back or check on your patient who was have severe pain and went to the Hospital! Then you wanna charge 55 bucks to see some Nurse who will be going over the same BS you were given on a sheet without meds! Gastritis, Diverticula, and Hemorrhoid's... Really your going to not charge me 55 when I was told 20 bucks over the phone, because the person is not a Doctor! Top it off they added some other random charge claiming I never paid 30 bucks at the Valley View Surgery Center which I have full blown proof / receipts of everything I paid for myself and wife! On October 18th, when I went to check in for a 9:15am appointment, I was told about the two bills. While standing there trying to understand a young Asian kid sitting behind the desk was being a dick and the two females sitting beside him were rolling there eyes at me for no reason. The entire time I was being polite and respectful and just trying to understand the bills and why I was told different. Not one of them could give an answer, so I just walked out... So far I do not know any Doctor not one who would just do a colonoscopy and not remove Hemorrhoid's if you have them, or allow you to leave without fully knowing what Gastritis is and what to look out for. Or if someone calls and leaves a message and your in pain and it is due to Gastritis, no meds no phone call after a Hospital visit! I have never been to an office, so disorganized in my entire life! Unprofessional reps who cannot speak clear English, can't answer a simple phone call, can't adequately schedule a patient to be seen in a timely manner! I had to wait over 2 months to be told that I would be seen by Nurse and not the Doctor which made absolutely no sense! If you do not believe or trust what I am saying by all means folks go to this unprofessional Doctor who obviously does not give two shits about what her reps say or how they say things to patients! Imagine trying to understanding a location over the phone and you get nowhere, because they can't speak English! Customer service, what customer service! There is non period! Not even a little! If the Doctor gave a crap she would be nip things into the right place, but it is evident and clear she chooses to ignore what her reps say and do and allows them to get away with the disrespectful comments, remarks, and not passing messages along to the Doctor! Met with Dr. McDermott in April 2025 for issues. Scheduled multiple tests and got them done. Made an appointment for August for follow up and review tests. I got a call last week (3 wks b/4 appointment) to reschedule for the following week (McDermott was only seeing patients between 10am-noon). THEN I got a call days later to cancel the appointment because the staff "isn't able to schedule for Dr. McDermott and she's only doing procedures, no clinics'" and I could make an appointment with a PN or another doctor. I asked several times what's going on with Dr. McDermott and only got the same explanation "...not able to schedule ...only doing procedures". AND, there's only one doctor at Summerlin office with PNs; only PNs at Sahara office and Henderson office has 1 doctor that sees patients on Mondays only, 1-time a month! Sounds like, to me, Digestive Associates finds it more profitable to do procedures than to meet with patients. I don't know what's going on but I agree with previous reviews about this organization and staff: not responsive, rude, lack of follow up and couldn't care less about me and my issues. An hour waiting supposed I am next but more people are called in and I have not. I am not going to pay any copay since just like the doctors time. My time is also worth money. So whatever the copay will be I will be contesting it due to my wait time of over an hour past my appointment. This will be evidence of my wait plus a picture I just took a few minutes ago. Absolutely astounding how difficult to impossible it is to get a person on the phone to schedule anything and a Dr. to concern themselves with your situation. The call center is set up to receive calls on another continent. I had a procedure with Dr. McDermott in Summerlin Hospital and I really appreciated the place and staff, etc. I was told to follow up with them and have had the worst experience trying to get it scheduled in time and with a person locally. They are a system of doctors that go through motions and I never felt like my health was a concern, my lack of ability to schedule the timely appointments they wanted me to have, etc. When I did get the follow up procedure I had a very hard time physically and was told to do a 3rd procedure in 3 months. I asked if the prep was affecting me and if I should consider another method, but was told just to schedule. The scheduler, once I received a call back 2 weeks after I called to schedule the appointment, was the one who determined the prep I should use, ummmm. NO. I would not put my health in their hands. Unfortunately I don't think this post will matter, but my experience is relevant and worth the time to tell you, take an extra minute to find another group where you can talk to a staff member and a dr. and get the healthcare you deserve. read more

All I can say is that without a doubt, this is the worst,most unprofessional office i have ever dealt with. They are all about volume and do not care. At first everything was great,then you desend into hell. They dont pick up their phones, and they do not return calls. You get ineffective np service,you will drop dead by the time you can get an appointment with ANY doctor listed on their door. If you have a question post follow up,forget about reaching them. They do not respond to the pharmacy for requests on refills,i was forced to go up to their office two or three times for that,lol. When you question the doctor, they just look at you, not even bothering to explain why these things happen. I was using them for a second opinion regarding a mystery pain that no one can diagnose. These types of offices are an extreme example of why being my own advocate is crucial to getting even the most basic service from them. The office girl said I had to go to Valley View Surgery center( which is owned by many doctors )for my procedure , which find out later that was a lie ! I will start by saying it is truly hard and frustrating to get through to this team BUT there are so few doctors with the skills in the valley it's understandable. They are super busy. If you go in with patience the Doctors are incredible. My mom has Bile duct cancer and Dr Wahid performed the procedure she needed for a stint. He did an incredible job. In the office we see Dr. Evans. He has been amazing. Took time to really discuss things with us. He was empathetic and clear and very helpful. I was seeing Nicole Nelson. I began having Diverticulitis Attacks this past year. Met with her for 10 minutes for initial visit, colonoscopy scheduled for January 3, 2023. Met a week later 5 minutes, told things are good and dont need to come back for ten years unless another attack happens, call the office and they will treat this. Saturday, I began having a severe attack, one of the worst I have had. I called on call Sunday about prescribing meds. I was told the on call provider will call me. By Monday no call. Called the Call center on Monday couldn't get an answer for the longest time, placed my request for Antibiotics and was told that they would call me back once completed. No call back, Called the pharmacy, nothing had been called in. Nothing but liquid diet since Saturday night following the requirements, Monday night so much pain and throwing up. Tuesday morning call again, told the same thing I was told on Monday. End of the day before they turn their phones over to the answering center to follow up. They contact the Physicians Assistant, and Im told I just have to wait. Seriously just wait, three days in still on liquid diet, constant pain and no response. Now will have to go to the ER and endure this expense just to be treated for what my assigned medical provider could have covered for me. ZERO STARS!!! I am pissed. I just picked up my 73 year old, sweet mother and she was crying!! This morning I pick her up for her procedure ( btw these things don't just affect the patient, other people have to rearrange schedules and rides to school for their children, etc.) she tells me she can't stop the stuff from coming out (you catch my drift?) got two hours of sleep and was honestly just happy to get it over with. Time passes, I go pick her up and here is where the story starts, she gets in my car and proceeds to tell me they couldn't do the colonoscopy because she ate yesterday, she had lost her instructions so she had been CALLING the office non stop with no response, and even her insurance called with no response!! She needed the directions to know how to prep. So, she read the instructions on the prep drink which says she can eat three hours before; but apparently you can't eat at all. Unfortunately, Dr. McDermott is very nice and when your in the office with her you feel (for the very quick 10min you get) that she cares but once you leave for get about it. You will become a number in her overbooked schedule and no matter the case impossible to get proper care with the super poor level of professionalism she puts her office in. Made an appointment for a procedure. It was scheduled months out. They made me come in for a pre-procedure appointment. Paid a $50 copay, waited 30 minutes and did not see a doctor. Saw an assistant, who handed me some papers and scheduled an appointment. The procedure was done somewhere else and went fine. Then they made me schedule another appointment to get my results. So I did. They charged me another $50 copay and made me wait 40 minutes past my appointment time so a doctor could tell me 'everything's fine'. My interaction with the doctor was less than a minute. I asked why they couldn't have given me results by email, phone, fax or mail. The doctor said he didn't know. Couldn't find anyone in the office who cared. read more

If I could leave zero stars I would. Dr. McDermott and Dr. Wahid are both great, however the office staff is beyond incompetent. I have left 20-25 messages, no that is not a typo, since August and have still not received a call back. I have been waiting since August 8th (today is Oct 23) for the office to handle my preauthorization for a procedure. My follow up appointment is in two weeks, not only have I not had the procedure, I have not been able to get preauthorization because this office will not take my calls. The facility that I am supposed to have the procedure at has even attempted to get in contact with this office, they too have gotten the run around since mid-September. No resolution. I have never dealt with such an unfriendly, incompetent group of individuals in my life. I work in healthcare and it is embarrassing to know that there are offices like this one, providing such horrendous care to patients. I plan to continue calling daily until my follow-up appointment, at which time I will take the opportunity during my appointment to share my experience, in dealing with the office staff, with the doctor... After all, we will have the entire time available, as there will not be any results to take a look at since I haven't had the procedure. Shameful. Good luck getting them to actually answer the phone. If they do, they will "accidentally" hang up. Don't bother leaving a message, they won't call back. When you sit in the office waiting, you will overhear the most rediculous conversations from the staff behind the desk. In June I had emergency gallbladder removal. A week later Dr Wahid places an ERCP stent. The instructions when I left the hospital were to call DA and make an appointment to have stent removed. 5 different staff member said I needed to have an appt first, and I needed a referral from my regular Dr. I explained my regular Dr has nothing to do with this procedure. I need an appt for a procedure, which is done at a hospital or surgery center. After a Month I gave in and have an appt on Aug 22. It's a 90 min drive one way, my copay is $20.00 and it will take a half tank case. Would anyone like to guess what type of mood I will be in when I get there. This is hands down the worst medical office I have dealt with. It is obvious they don't train their staff well. read more

I have been back several times since my last update. They have some new staff and things are running much smoother now. Havn't had any problems getting the right person on the phone, no problems with medicine refills and as always Dr. McDermott is the best. They also started sending out surveys which tells me they are taking patient experience seriously now, and it shows. Since my last review my wife also went to see a different GI here (can't think of the name right now) and had a good experience. I have no reservations about recommending Digestive Associates. I have now waited half an hour after my appointment outside of the office because the door was locked. I do not have a choice in doctors and have to go here; I have tried to find another doctor. Dr. Vickers is a great doctor. However, to echo the other reviews the office staff are horrible people who lack compassion and lack any empathy for patient care. This very trait should be required in the healthcare field. The state of my health is quite complex and Dr. Vickers really understands this. He even acknowledged that many of the issues faced by patients in the Las Vegas area in particular stem from office staff not adequately scheduling patients and their insurance. With that being said, as it came time to schedule my endoscopy, he personally walked me Alex, the lady who does the scheduling. When he overheard this Hispanic lady try to schedule me for March 26, he immediately walked over and told her No, get her on the schedule for the first or second week of March . She seemed annoyed but said ok. Dr. Vickers then walked away and she looked at me saying well I have so much to do filing in trying to schedule for three different doctors but I promise to call you tomorrow ( Friday 2/22/18 to get you scheduled. I was nervous because when this is said, you are often forgotten. She wrote my name on a blue post it note and put it on her computer monitor to assure me. I didn't want to argue further and took her word for it. That Friday came and went. So on Monday, 2/26/18 I called the office at 11am, I spoke to a gentleman named Michael who stated the lady was in "clinicals" but will pass her the message and she will call me back by the afternoon. I did not get a call back, so I called back at 4:30pm, a lady named Vanessa answered and said she was from their other office but had an idea of who I spoke to and said she had left for the day but I could leave her a message and if she did not return my call by 2pm on Tuesday 2/27/18 to call her so she can transfer me to the clinical manager. Loan and behold this lady "Alex" never called me back so I called back at 3:30 and was finally transferred to Alex. Alex said look, I have to schedule other patients for three different doctors, I don't even work for your dr I'm scheduling you as a favor to him. I asked her to put herself in my shoes I'm in excruciating pain I feel like I am having a heart attack when I eat a few bites of food since 2011. She said I'm not the only patient and she will try to get to me when she can. I was crying not yelling on the phone trying to plead with her to please get me scheduled she placed me on hold and then a lady claiming to be the clinical manager answered the phone and said can I help you? I pleaded to please get me scheduled and she got real short with me saying her staff is doing the best they can and asked me to quit exaggerating, I said nicely to please not talk down to me she got so defensive stating they aren't talking down to me what part of they will try their best do I not get, they are done talking to me there's no getting through to me. I asked if there was any way to talk to Dr. vickers directly, she got more defensive and said No you are not talking to dr. Vickers what part of we are trying our best don't you get, there's no getting through to you we are going in circles and slammed the phone on me. The entire office staff is like a clique in middle school they stick up for each other and undermine the patients. It is cruel and inhumane. I truly wish the doctors of this practice would look into house cleaning to hire staff that is compassionate and has a deeper understanding of quality patient care, rather than only hire people simply because they are bilingual! Please! Instead of making a difficult process to begin with you are adding unnecessary stress among patients who are suffering serious issues. read more

I have been in to see Dr. Karanth for several visits. Was referred to him because I have had a persistent unexplainable moderate anemia for a few years. Nothing really serious, but something to keep an eye on. Dr. Karanth had me do an endoscopy, colonoscopy and capsuloscopy. Absolutely thorough. When I see him he goes over the results in very clear and understandable terms. Each time I come back he acts like he knows me, knows about my past treatment, and most important of all he acts like he is a caring friend. Other doctors can be professional and distant and that is fine, but Dr. Karanth sits down across from you and TALKS to you. I was left with the impression that he really likes his work and is glad that he can help me out. He's sort of like a good neighbor. Staff is good too. read more

Dr Carlson was great but I echo comments regarding their staff, most unprofessional office staff I have ever encountered. Forget about answering calls or returning messages, they don't. One time out of 20 they returned a call (I'm not kidding). The one time they did the receptionist said she did not know the number of the doctor I was referred. Said she would call back at end of day, that was over a week ago and still no call. left message every day after that, again no call. Relegated to physically going to office last two days, but office locked, even though it says they are open. My health is not a joke to me but it is obvious they do not care. I too would give Digestive Associates less than one star if I could. The customer service is horrible. I saw the doctor as a new patient on August 2. I was supposed to have a colonoscopy on August 17. They NEVER sent the bowel prep prescription (or scripts for my daily medicine either) to my pharmacy. If I could find a better facility to go to, I would. My original appointment was rescheduled by a phone call by Digestive Associates at the last minute, literally before I walked out the door. Arriving at the facility at 870 Seven Hills Dr, I noticed the sparse conditions and the staff that resembled processing clerks at basic training. After waiting, 20 minutes , I saw Dr.Karanth, my interview went something like this, What is the reason for today's visit ? Me, My primary care physician recommended me to get a colonoscopy . The Dr., Okay. Our staff will set up your procedure. The scheduling person, I think her name is Shay, she's a real peach, gives me a set of instructions, tells me she will contact me by phone, later in the day and later in the day comes, I'm in the bathroom, she , I presume calls, leaves no message. I call back multiple times to no avail. The scheduler , will not return your calls. When I received the instructions from her on the day I saw Dr. Karanth, she quipped something that I realized as sarcasm, in regard to following up on the phone with her later in the day and that was if I could manage to call her , " it would simply be amazing ." I now know she views people with disdain. After I posted this complaint on Google, she called my house and reiterated the same garbage out of her mouth, that if I could call her back," it would simply be amazing" . I'm registered with UNLV Medical and they have a web site where you can submit messages to an advice nurse , email your doctor and so on . This digestive associates has a web portal that pales horribly compared to a reputable medical facility. They only have one phone number to use to contact the doctors or staff, with this purposeful roadblock they control the narrative. Avoid this place at all cost. We have yet to see a Liver Specialist even though my husband was diagnosed as having Stage 3 liver disease by one of their PAs. That was after repeated blood testing, CT Scan and MRI. Hubby developed bad side effects to meds and a nasty reaction. 4 days of no callbacks before receiving a message stating the problems were not related to the meds, and we should JUST see his primary. I see a Dr. McDermitt at this location. She is an excellent doctor friendly, concerned and geared to do everything the correct way and not jump to quick solutions like surgery. As seen in the photos the office is clean and sanitary and well organized. The office staff is friendly and somewhat professional. The office is located conveniently on the hospital grounds. Just park in the parking garage closest to the office tower walk across the crosswalk. The elevators are immediately on your right go to Asia which is the second floor after leaving the elevator Corredor take a right and walk all the way down the hall then go left and the doors on your right. If you get a chance Australia is on the fifth floor. read more
