We scheduled an appointment for a free estimate with Jay to trim some major branches from our 90'…read moresycamore tree. He was able to tell us the price on the spot and explained what equipment would be used and what approach would be taken. Within a couple of weeks, the crew and equipment came and did an absolutely exemplary job, even with snow pack on the ground! They had to use their crane to take down more than half of the 25' second trunk that was a threat to our house if it would have been blown down in a storm. They also used their bucket truck to expertly move in and around the branches to zero in on the targeted ones for extraction without doing any damage to the surrounding ones. These guys are very knowledgeable and professional as well as courteous and considerate. They put every bit of extracted wood into their wood chipper and hauled it all away. We chose Jay's Tree Service because of "word of mouth" recommendations from two couples we overheard having a conversation in line at Mama Jean's Barbecue last summer while waiting in line outside. They were discussing a recent storm and how each couple had to have tree work done and they both had used Jay's and were extremely happy with them. I took note of this praise and decided that if we ever needed tree work, it would be with Jay's, and we never even sought any other quotes. Their price was very reasonable for the quality of work they did. We would not hesitate to recommend Jay's Tree Service!

Jay's was about half the price of the other two ($$$), neither of which seemed to even want the job. Jay's showed up on time with an amazing array of machinery and an expert crew. Six hours later they were completely finished. I can't speak for others, but Jay's is BY FAR the best tree service we've ever used, (and we've used a lot in 35 years). I highly recommend them without hesitation.

In 2008 we hired National Window and Door to replace 16 windows in our 25 year-old home. The job…read morecost about $5000. Installation took two days. The installers were short tempered and complained that the windows were sized incorrectly. The job looked good from the ground when it was finished. We paid the company and parted ways. Two years later we decided to re-side the house and found numerous problems with the install. The most egregious was how they compromised the structure of the house by cutting out the jack studs (structural members) in several rough openings to allow the incorrectly sized windows to fit. As a result, a few of the headers (beams holding up the roof) pulled into the window opening. Pictures of the cut jack studs and resulting damage are available in our Angie's List review, or from me on request. We hired an engineer to consult on the fix. When we confronted National Window and Door about the problems with the install, we got nothing but a run-around. If you hire this company, please pull your own building permit and have the building official check their work. They can't be trusted.

Waited about 8 months for the bath remodel. He was the highest of all 3 bidders but somehow thought he would be the best. WRONG, huge money for a somewhat small bath. He would only give a few choices of items to choose from...dissatisfied with most of what I ended up. Was suppose to get a custom built vanity...instead got a small Home Depot lower end one. He measured my floor space incorrectly and did not have room for the extra section to be built onto the vanity....one of the main reasons for the remodel and I did NOT get that. Left out a light, a light switch and a few other items but was trying to charge me for them. Pretty much wasted money all the way around. He did fair construction but do NOT do business with this man without a contract that has been checked by a lawyer...my advise to you.
