Excellent small town theater with 4 theaters in a historic building. Parking can be a problem so come a little early.

Great little small town theater. So nice to not have to drive 25 miles to see a movie. Concession prices are so reasonable. We love it.

I had no idea this theater existed and it is probably my favorite movie theater in PA. I moved away…read morefrom the area and recently came back to see my dad who still lives there. This is exactly the kind of movie theater that I love with it's recliner cushioned seats, spacious theater, great sound and tasty food options. I took my kids to see the latest Dreamworks movie and they had such a great time. I ordered them some tasty food including a chicken quesadilla, a pulled pork sandwich and fries. For the adults, they offer a wide selection of wine, beer and cocktails. I'm a big wine drinker and found the quality to be just so so. But with that said, I was just happy they had some drinks to chose from. I think the next time, I'll just stick to either beer or a cocktail. Finally, the location is super. There is free parking with validation and it's right across from the Steamtown Mall that has a Starbucks and a random assortment of shops and businesses. My recommendation would be to also head upstairs outside the Crunch gym and snap a photo of the replica "Welcome to Scranton" sign featured in the opening from the office. My kids had no idea what it was, but I enjoyed it!

My daughter was trying to turn around in the seat to continue watching but couldn't see a thing - it was literally pouring ,so we decided to leave . I was surprised to see that many people stayed . Regardless , I called as soon as we left to ask if the $21 could be refunded so we could return another night .The young man who answered was friendly and said he had to ask his supervisor ,whom he put on the phone .I politely asked if we could be refunded to come back . The man was ignorant and stated ," there is no reason for a refund ,the movie is playing ,we play rain or shine " - Well sir , I have worked in customer service for 14 years and I'll tell you , I wouldn't let you run my business . How hard was it to give the refund so we could return to enjoy the movie on a night that wasn't a monsoon ? OR if you are that tight , could you not write us a voucher to come back for ONLY that movie ?‍ It's not hard to make an unsatisfied customer happy ,but you failed miserably .The one thing you did succeed at , was losing three customers who will not return

Callicoon Theater - The original projector from 1948, on display in lobby

Love this theater!…read more Built in 1948, this huge (350 seat!) theater is vintage but has been fully modernized, with a digital projector and Dolby. They show a mix of feature films, including the big-name first-run attractions but only have one screen. Technical quality is excellent. The arched roof (built on wooden beams--like a wooden ship, upside down) makes it like a big tube and you get that big movie theater sound. I love the history and the lobby is like a little museum. The original projector, a carbon-arc, 16-mm film projector, is there next to a display case (which used to be the candy counter) with old tickets, signage, and relics of the past. The lobby has posters from old showings, like Godfather, The Graduate. The ticket booth and many of the furnishings are original but the place is very clean and well organized. Fun fact: Originally the Harden Theater, named for its founder, it became the Arden Theater when the H fell off the marquee and the owner didn't want to be bothered to replace it. We had a birthday party there and the owner, Kristina was very helpful. They showed a movie at 10:30 on a Saturday, then we had cake and snacks in the lobby, then went to a local pizza place. Fun place for a party and a great theater.

It's a classic theater with a great old time vibe. Very clean. Family owned. I've been to it twice…read moreso far and looking forward to more this year.
