I brought my cats here for years and never had any reason to complain until the day I brought my beloved Burmese cat to be put to sleep.
Perhaps it was because it was the Saturday clinic and it was busy, and we were first in line. Perhaps because the vet was working alone under these conditions, but followed was one of the most horrifying experiences I have ever had as a cat owner.
I think the first injection had not had enough time to work, but it took TWENTY minutes for my baby to die. The awful agonal gasping will stick in my mind forever. He grabbed my finger and looked into my eyes in abject terror. It was awful.
Then we were unceremoniously hurried out, I'm not even sure if he was properly dead. We were asked not to go back into the waiting room so as not to upset other clients.
Perhaps it is my lack of knowledge, but I understood 'put to sleep' was a peaceful event, not a battleground . When our pets were put to sleep in England, they just closed their eyes and drifted away.
I came back on the Monday to have a less traumatic farewell to my faithful little friend and the staff were much friendlier than on the Saturday.
I feel it was uneccessarily horrible, he should have had more tranquilizer and more time for it to work. I shall never go back there again. Poor little Foo was a gentleman, he deserved a better end. read more
