I went to purchase a new pair of sneakers Wednesday 4-29-26. I was not sure this time...of what type of sneaker I needed. I was always comfortable with my BROOKS which I have purchased for years but not running around like crazy in any longer in work I was not sure what type of sneaker I needed. Once Keenan approached me and asked if I needed help I was more than grateful. I explained my problem and he knew just what to give me to try on. He explained both brands of sneakers. I tried both on and again I am just so grateful to run into Keenan that day. I am still now wearing BROOKS, but it's now a new line of walking sneaker called GHOST. Let's start off with since this is a sporting good store they don't carry NFL, MLB licensed apparel and this includes hats! The service personnel there are few and far in between the only person I ran into was a very helpful checkout operator/manager who told me of the fact that dicks in Wilkes-Barre does not carry NFL, MLB and NHL official gear but the Dicks up in Scranton PA does. So what I wanted I had to order online and it is definitely worth the value that I paid at least they include free shipping. read more

They advertise Hunting supplies but this store does not cary anything hunting related. Walking the store, it's in rough shape almost tipped over cardboard piles in the isle and if you try to walk around the fishing section there are racks of clothing just pushed randomly blocking the isles. As the only chain sporting goods store in the area, they have almost everything you could want and need. Everything is just so pricey though. The store does a great job with organization of different sports. You can find pretty much anything based on that. I'm rating it a three based on the simple fact that I don't want to pay such high prices. :-/ read more

After the rude treatment by Gander Outdoors we left we came here to Dicks. Gander Outdoors aka Gander Mountain who is the same company ask yourself why it's out of business?? Now I know why! We waited in line for 15 minutes they acknowledged us but kept ignoring us. I guess all Latinos shouldn't be sold guns? Dicks Sporting Goods have amazing help at their gun counter. The gentleman was very Knowledgeable, very customer skills oriented and very helpful with all our questions and very patient as well. Came back next day after check on background came back and they too were very friendly and attentive too. NOW THAT MY FRIENDS IS FRIENDLY, WELCOMING, ATTENTIVE , KNOWLEDGEABLE, UNRACIST CUSTOMER SERVICE WHERE YOU'LL WANT TO SHOP FOR ALL YOUR GUN AND HUNTING NEEDS. This sporting goods store has just about everything you need for just about every sporting activity imaginable. There's not a ton of high end merchandise, but there is definitely quite a bit of low and mid-level items. Highlights: + Great selection of jogging/workout attire. + Solid fishing department. + Canoes, Kayaks, etc. + Amazing Golf section. My only complaint is the checkout process. The lines always seem to be backed up and not enough registers are ever open. Oh well! read more

Overly priced, and removed all of there hunting equipment and firearms from their store completely, which is the only reason I even went there in the past. I Stopped in the other day, walked back to where the Hunting and shooting supplies used to be, and noticed they were gone. Young man employed by Dicks told me they removed the hunting section and is now only available at there Scranton location. He stated they have been receiving nothing but complaints in regards to it ever since they reopened. I literally have no reason to return to this store. Place is awful. Not only are the prices high the customer service is nonexistent. I went there to buy some golf shoes and they had one shoe on display and then told me they don't have the other shoe available. What a bunch of nonsense. Worst retail experience ever.. Guaranteed! While they may have a terrific selection of goods, what good is it when it takes forever to get checked out. It does not matter how busy this store is...you WILL wait in line to get out. Meanwhile, there is always someone at the door greeting people as people are walking out due to the long lines. Hey you Dicks who run this place... Rule #1. Take peoples money as fast as you can! I stopped by on Black Friday at 4 pm just to see what it looked like. Exceeded even my lowest expectations! At least 100 deep at the register all the way back up the main isle to the shoes!!!! Meanwhile, two associates standing by the entrance with a dazed look in their eye. How can this place exist? No competition? Will somebody please open a gander mountain in Wilkes-Barre? Dicks wouldn't make it a month with decent competitors. read more

The Dick's Sporting Goods in Wilkes-Barre, PA, demonstrated a complete disregard for federal law in the form of the Service Member's Civil Relief Act which allows military members to keep their home of record as their state of residence no matter where military orders send them. I came back up to PA from my assignment to take my son hunting for small game over the Thanksgiving holiday--his first hunting experience. On Black Friday, I went to Dick's with my military ID, military orders showing I was stationed out of state, a Pennsylvania Driver's License (showing my out of state address) but still a valid PA state driver's license demonstrating I am, in fact, a PA resident. I picked out a small .22 rifle and the young man at the counter went to talk to his manager about how to process the application since he had not processed military before. He came back and told me that the manager would not allow him to sell me the rifle since I lived in another state and that I would have to go to the other state to buy a rifle. It seems that this manager is very short sighted and the policy is discriminatory against U.S. Armed Forces members. Rather than check the law or even ask the PA State police who would run the background check, he elected to simply deny the sale and cited a vague "company policy." I did not realize that "company policy"--if it was in fact a company policy and not his own ignorance-- allowed one to simply discriminate at will and overlook legitimate laws and protections for service members. The whole situation is even more egregious because I'm sure the store could have easily clarified that I was a legitimate buyer and resident through PA authorities. PA state policy, in general, is very generous towards military members even granting special reduced price hunting and fishing licenses. Shame on you Dick's Sporting Goods for your lack of situational awareness, poor customer service and discrimination against U.S. service members!!! read more
