Went in Thursday to buy my kid a new baseball bat, wasn't greeted at the front like usual (the cashier seemed to be more into their conversation with other worker at the front than focusing on any customers), was helped on the floor by kid putting away baseball stuff (didn't really know what i was looking for but he was VERY helpful)! Cashier seemed to be in a rush to get back to conversation versus asking if I found everything okay (asking bare minimum as someone who works in retail). Overall, was very impressed with floor crew and their customer service skills over the person who you would think is the face of the shift (cashier/greeter). Don't remember their name, but if I were a manager (and I have been) I would move them away from the frontend. read more

Why am I not surprised this place has 1 star. I'm sure it's because we can't give negative stars. Every other Dicks I've been to the customer service is amazing. I've been here twice today. The first time it took over 2 hours to get my son a pair of soccer cleats. Had to come back to get me some indoors because unfortunately Lubbock's selection is 0. Store is basically empty. I've been waiting for 30 minutes for a pair of shoes. Some guy has asked me twice now if I've gotten them and, no, I'm still standing here without shoes? Went to look at golf clubs and asked a question and got I don't know and they walked away. This store is an absolute joke. Close this down and reopen the one in Lubbock where people actually care. read more

Went to pick up 2 orders and the guy that was there was very rude. I was picking up the order for someone else. So when he gave me the first order it was ok. Then when I said the name on the second order he got all rude. So I called the person who I was picking up for and she did her thing. Then when I finally got the order he didn't like when I was rude back to him. That store needs to teach all of their employees customer service especially when it comes to picking up orders. I won't ever waist my money on that store read more

Service at Dick's is terrible. Waiting for someone to come help grab a size for our kid. Had to hunt someone down, then you have to use the kiosk to request shoes too? When did that happen? During check out 3 associates saw us standing waiting to check out (literally made eye contact with 2 of the 3) did not even acknowledge us being there. 2 of them were pulling a sticker off something but someone could have said we'll be with you...once they were done the two guys scattered leaving checkout girl to us. Rude! What happened to service here? read more

Went in to buy my son a basketball hoop for his birthday. We found a cheaper price on scheels. The cashier paged the manager to confirm,. I told her we have price matched with scheels before. They all seemed surprised, asking if I had price matched at this store. I was a little confused by their reaction. I told her yes at other Dicks sporting goods store through multiple cities in Texas and other states. The lying manager apparently has made up a new policy claiming they only price match with Amazon and everlast which is a boxing company. Like really? You're gonna straight up make up your own fake rules going against your companies actual policy. Oh I will report this to corporate. Better luck next time lying to your customer. I will never shop here again. Maybe get a new manager who isn't full of it. You might not be doing so bad on your sales. We make multiple large purchases through the years but will make a great trip of going to bass pro shop since we do travel alot. Honestly, even academy is better. read more

Went for an interview and the manager was a total asshole. No smile - rude - a very unhappy individual. He had offered me an hourly wage and I asked if he could go higher and refused. Didn't even want to work with me and when I told him "no thanks" he just got up and walked away!! It's so sad that Dicks has people like this - I can't even imagine what the employees go through. I will not be shopping there and i will make sure to tell all my family and friends the experience I encountered. Just because you're a miserable person - don't take it out on other people. Go to the gym - maybe that'll do you some good. read more

Terrible management. I went to buy a bike and was told that I couldn't buy it until it was checked out and certified. Ok no big deal except the only employee who does the certification is not working today. The manager was completely unwilling to work with me. Why not certify the bike when they are put together and set out for sale? read more
