Walking into Dick's Sporting Goods to buy softball equipment for my daughter was honestly stressful. I know nothing about softball, and trying to figure out cleats, bats, gloves, and sizes felt overwhelming fast. Last week I rushed in at the last minute trying to find cleats and thought I was going to lose my mind. Marlena helped us and she was wonderful. She stepped right in, helped us find the right cleats quickly, and immediately took the pressure off the situation. We came back this week because we still needed a bat and a few other things. Cat helped us this time and she was incredible. She took the time to measure my daughter and explain what size bat would actually work for her. That meant a lot because I truly had no idea what I was doing. What stood out most was how encouraging she was with my daughter. She didn't just help us buy equipment, she made my daughter feel excited and confident about playing. As a mom, that kind of encouragement means everything. The store was clean, organized, great value and the softball section had a lot of options which made it fun for my daughter to explore while we figured things out. If you're considering purchasing a Yeti product from Dicks Sporting Goods, don't. Purchase directly from Yeti or don't at all. I purchase a cooler from this location and 8 days later the lid started warping causing the seal to not work and thus, melting the ice within two hours. Manager told me they could not exchange or return and to speak to Yeti. Spoke to Yeti and they told me to speak to a manager at the store I purchased it from. You're spending a good amount of money on a cooler only for it to not work and no one be able to help you. What a joke after spending thousands of dollars a year or clothing, shoes, and sports equipment. Manager didn't even bother to look up the purchase of the cooler or history of what I have bought. My experience was brief and still a positive one. I needed a swim vest for my grandson. One young man showed me their display. There was quite a selection. I did find one (and it turned out to be a perfect fit) and took it to the register. There was a "buy one get one free" sign on the display. The young lady at the register rang up my purchase and it was a lot less than I expected. She explained BOGO also gets you one at half price which was a pleasant surprise! read more

Ed at the bike department is so easy to work with and takes great care with the bike products and the repair. We got out sons GT 24 inch bike and when there's a problem he'll not just fix it, but will find other solutions to make his customer happy and satisfied. I went in the other day to buy a lantern, and noticed that not only have they shut down the firearm section, they pretty much took out everything for hunting! Just reeks with ignorant and snooty employees who lack even a small amount of friendliness, knowledge of athletic gear (specifically baseball and softball), and could care less if you have had a overall good experience. They had no clue what local youth or high school sports teams were in the area - NONE! At this point, I was shocked. "Are they not from Lodi? Do they not play sports? Are they from Stockton? She had no clue about what sports teams Dicks supports. I named off about 5 local sports teams and schools and she could not tell me at all if Dicks supports them or not. WTF!?! Went in for a Racquet restringing, was told they would be done Monday. Showed up on Monday, was then told they might be done by next week, they were too busy. 2 problems with that; a customer needed a glove steamed, they got on the intercom and get them out of there in 20 minutes. Went in there with the thought of buying a pair of shoes. Walked straight back to the shoe department, passing 3 employees. No one said hello, asked if I needed assistance, anything. Was sitting in the shoe department pacing in between aisles looking for a running shoe that caught my eye. Two employees passed by. No one asked me if I needed help. One customer in the row next to me stopped an employee as she passed by and the employee didn't seem courteous at all. Gave minimal effort to help and then went on doing her uncourteous customer service. One male employee across the aisle in the apparel was sitting there on his cell phone and didn't appear too concerned with helping customers. There were at least 6 employees that I walked within a 6 foot radius of, and not one said hello, asked how my girlfriend and I were doing, or even gave us the 'nod' of recognition that we they even knew we were there. Having worked at a retail store and shoe store, I understand that customer service is key to running a successful business. These employees were almost disrespectful with how they handled customers in their store. I like the store itself, but the customer service at this location will keep me from coming back anytime soon. I am just beside myself...this particular Dicks really lived up to their namesake. Dicks! We walk in to make a substantial purchase for my daughter's basketball gear. No greeting, just associates at the counter doing nothing. As we peruse the merchandise, not one time did we find any associates that were available. Like literally, the store was dead. I could more than understand if they had Xmas shopping rush and everyone was tied up, but damn...nobody on the floor? I walked around the entire shoe department for about 10 minutes looking, and finally caught what looked like the store manager and another associate walking by. Still no offer for assistance. I had to ask for help. Finally we get someone, but he let me know that he did not work in the shoe dept, but would get someone to help. He was nice, and the woman that helped went out of her way to help us. She was nice as well. After she helped us find shoes, we go to the apparel area and find a few items, still no help from anyone...my daughter walks up to the front registers and asks if they had an item in a larger size, in this case she needed a large but all they had out was xl and med. The associate seemed like he didn't want to be bothered so he told her that med was the largest size they carried. He didn't even try to have someone help he just shot her down. Then the cashier had an attitude with my wife as they were paying. This place is a disgusting mess when it comes to customer service, (except for the 2 associates that we had to search for.) Avoid this place at all costs. Never again will I go here! Terrible customer care! I was looking at their website to find out when the store was going to open. I found out the grand opening was that upcoming weekend. While on the website I came upon a coupon for $10 off online purchases over $50. So I ordered one $60 item with free in store pickup. I did not get the $10 off at checkout. So I went to the store and found out the item was $50 in the store! They would not honor the $10 coupon, they said it was an online deal and it might be emailed to me. So I canceled the online order. Also while on the website they offered a different $10 coupon only good on 9/9, 10, 11, and 12 and for in store purchases over $25. After I canceled the online order I bought the same item in the store for $50. I had printed the other $10 if over $25 coupon and gave it to the cashier. After much to do I was told they cannot honor that coupon either. I asked for the manager and was told they were busy. I asked if it really was worth losing a customer over a $10 coupon? They just looked at me like I was from outer space. They just don't care, I guess they think that they are too big to worry about one guy and a $100 sale (Yes there were other items). I just left everything sitting on the counter told them good luck and left. As far as the store is concerned; it is hard to get around, everything is jammed in everywhere and sitting in the alleyways. Everyone I dealt was young, I don't get it. You would think a big company would train these people? I had never heard of Dick's sporting goods until I saw the place being built by the two other big box stores there. No loss for me; I try to support local business when I can; never again will I go here. They gave me a free can cozy when I walked in, I gave it back on my way out, the guy apologized and said I hope you come back. Gun counter sucks! I went today to buy a gun. The guy working the counter told me that they were out of the one that I wanted but he could order it. There were a few people ahead of me buying guns so I waited 90 minutes for the guy to finish helping me. He gets on the computer and tells me that they don't carry the gun I want even though he told me earlier that he could order it. I showed him that they have it on the website and he still said that he couldn't get it. So I waited 90 minutes for nothing! Gift card purchased December 9, 2022 was given to my brother. Had $100.00 value. He went to Dicks and was told that there was no balance on card. I went to Dicks, was told to call corporate. I did call and was told card was used for an online purchase in Sacramento on an order that was over $400.00 and was picked up by someone in Sacramento. Whoever it was, it was not us as we do not live in Sacramento nor have we gone to the Dicks there ever. We were told by the corporate office that the card had been used so we were not going to be receiving either our money back or for them to make good on the card. I contacted my credit card company and filed a dispute. Dicks responded that the customer had the card and it had been used. We did have the card but we did not use it. Either the card number had been compromised as the gift cards were in a rack in the middle of the aisle and someone had written the card number and checked to see if the card had been activated or someone at the store had compromised the card number. Since Dicks was able to provide a copy of the receipt, same as we had, to the credit card company, the credit card company determined that we would not be getting credit for something we did not receive. I had been a Dicks member for years and now have cancelled my membership and I will not be purchasing anything from them ever again! read more

I built a home gym recently that would make 24 hr cry with envy. I bought every piece of equipment from this store. Excellent customer service, even when my wife and I were paying with our multiple store cards to rack up the points. The front staff could have easily been very snoody about the whole thing but instead they were cheerful and pleasant. The afternoon manager has gone above and beyond to accommodate my neediness and perfectionism in creating a space for my family to get healthy. Some of the staff remembers us now and will say hi ask about the home gym, and ask after our children. This was a great experience start to finish. Great all around from afternoon manager, to front staff, to the employee that stayed with me through my 30,000 questions. All the staff I interacted with were professional, courteous, and helpful. I'm a huge fan of Dick's because of what they have not the customer service. Every time I come I have to looks for someone to help me and even then they will walk away and take forever to come back. I probably come into Dick's 3-4 times a week and look on your website Daily. Today I had disappointment in your Stockton, ca store. I have been waiting a while to write this review as this store can be different depending on when you go. The gun counter always has a wait and some associates are better at customer service then others. I like when I see what appears to be managers running around helping customers and have seen some on cash registers lately for what appears to be lack of employees for the holidays. I have been helped multiple times by Joe and I believe his name is Andrew (works near the weight sets and bicycles). The clothing girls are always willing to help when I need to find gifts for my nephews. Also I have been helped by Raymond in shoes multiple times. Overall store is small, people are willing to help but they are some sour grapes when it comes to certain hours. read more

A store full of gimmick goods. Most of their sports equipment is overpriced gimmicky junk that is of lower quality with high end packaging and prices. The employees are in general not very helpful, walking around and avoiding eye contact with customers hoping to not be forced into service. I drove all the way to Lodi from Sac because i saw the grand opening and got a coupon for $10 of purchase of $25. I wanted to buy some ammo. I got out a magnifying glass to read the fine print as I know Big 5 and other sporting goods stores write in their adds "no discount on ammo and guns". When I got to the ammo and gun counter the only cashier was finishing a transaction. He then took a lot of time to tape together a dollar bill and then started cracking open coin rolls putting them in the register with me standing 4' from him. Finally I said can i buy some ammo and he said he'd be with me in a minute. After he finally found my ammo he said he can't use the coupon for ammo. I went directly to the manager up front and he said multiple times he can't even override the transaction to take off $10 and gave me no other offers.All I can say is "I WON'T BE BACk' read more

My visit started off not great. I needed help finding a size that I could not find on the floor but online said you had it. I found an employee and asked her for help....she stated that what is on the floor is all you had in stock and did not offer any additional help of scanning the item or anything.
