Was here a couple of days ago with my husband who was looking for a fleece neck gator for skiing. It's quite a big place with all kinds of recreational and sporting goods. For my shopping "tastes", this store is just too vast and overwhelming. It is a sea of merchandise. Well organized yes but just way too much stuff to take in. Despite all the "stuff" I didn't see bargains of any note...in fact...and this could just be me ...but I was astonished to see Nike women's sweatpants for $110.00. That seems like a lot of dough to lay out for sweatpants. I'd skip the name brand and the Nike logo and look for another deal. Better yet, don't wear sweatpants unless you're in the gym or running outside on a cold day as I am not sure who they are flattering on and I am so over seeing people running around everywhere in ill-fitting sloppy looking gym-wear. But for the gym-goers, and exercisers of all kinds, you will find all manner of clothing and equipment here...a fairly comprehensive seeming selection whatever your sport of choice might be. They also sell, t-shirts, specialized sports' shoes, lots of coolers and water bottles including the in my opinion ridiculous looking and now viral Stanley water bottles that everyone seems to be lugging around...tons of those! (I just read that in California there is a class action suit pending on these Stanley water bottles as the company has acknowledged the sealing material used for its vacuum insulation contains lead). I didn't see many staff throughout the store. The staff I did see seemed to be congregating up front so if I had had a question there would have been no one to ask without traipsing back up to the front where the registers are. And in a store as large as this, that's a pain. There are so many other places to get most of the things sold here but with better service and for me, with a more manageable store footprint and experience. If I'm not going to get a bargain, I'd rather spend my money at a smaller store with attentive service. Tom didn't find the neck gator he was looking for so we left without purchasing anything but for me, I can't imagine why I'd return. read more

I came here last December for some Christmas presents and thought I'd give it a try again this Christmas. The store itself inside looks great but I noticed and I definitely noticed it last year too is where you check out looks like a dump. There is just stuff everywhere. I am not talking about the trinkets near the register that they want you to buy while you are standing in line but behind the counter looked like a hurricane came through. There's just no need of that and as silly as it sounds, it bothered me. I felt like the store looked dirty. This is what I would assume it would look like after Christmas when people are returning. Keep in mind, this was around 9:00 to 10:00 in the morning so the store was not opened long. Also as I was checking out, the register does not show me the prices (that is a major pet peeve of mine) because you know it's happened to you, the price that a sale item shows doesn't ring up properly and once they hand you the receipt, you have to walk away to look at the receipt and if it's wrong, it's an issue. The machine that is looking you in the face, should show you what is ringing up, correct? It's not my go-to store and apparently it will never be my go-to store! Clean up your area behind the cash registers Dicks and also fix your cash registers to show what is being rung up. read more

I went in to exchange three pairs of shorts for one size up that I had previously bought for my husband. All of the merchandise had the original tags still on, and the shorts were accompanied with a receipt. James, one of the managers, was called to the register to assist the clerk with the exchange. James was visibly flustered as he attempted to exchange the shorts. He made it very clear to me, the staff close by, and other customers that although he was able to override the transaction that this was only a one time transaction due to the 90 day return policy (apparently, it was past the 90 days). He shared that by completing this transaction he was going to get in, "trouble". The young, gentleman cashier next to my register needed help from James, the manager. James asked the young man if he needed his help, and the cashier responded, "yes". James still visibly flustered whispered under his breath, "Of course you do!" It is wonderful to see how approachable management is to their staff at the Hanover location! Eventually, James stormed off still visibly shaken by my exchange. I asked the clerk working on my order, "Why I felt like a had done something wrong?" She let me know that James "dealt" with my exchange and therefore, there was no need to have any further discussion (she was basically letting me know she was done talking about it). Unfortunately, this clerk accidentally voided my entire $350.00 purchase, and needed to complete the entire transaction again! At this point, I offered to give the shorts away to Goodwill, and forget the exchange, if that would make it easier. She clearly agreed, probably too frightened to call her manager back over to help out with the shorts dilemma again, for fear he may have another meltdown! The customer service at this location is disgraceful. I was made to feel as if I was an inconvenience, and in the wrong. I will never return to this store again. Too bad for this store because I have four extremely athletic children, and we would have spent a ton of money at this store in the years to come! read more

Staff here are very rude and quite honestly come across as the customer is an inconvenience to them when asking them a question about the products they sell. If it is the Golf department, Stay clear away from " Paul". I came into the department wanting to buy a driver, 3 wood and hybrid matching set and it was clearly noted that I interrupted his time in the simulator or golf practice area. I was prepared to spend decent money and as I asked question his negative comments literally had me walk out and spend money elsewhere. Wasn't helpful at all and I truly hope not everyone who works there thinks the same way and or treats the customers the same way. I was just happy spending my money elsewhere and I will likely never go back. read more

Don't know his name but a cashier with face tattoos was flowing with energy, gave me and my friends a great conversation while he quickly checked out our item, told us about his wallet he order and never got which gave us a good laugh, despite a freezing walk into the store I left with big smile after our interaction, a real character I hope more appreciation is coming his. read more

this is meh. I had to get some stuff and they were one of the few places who had it and were open. great. their web site confirmed it, and by voice confirmed it. at check out (what a long line, who knew how many people were as desperate as I?), a long line. Ok. I misread a misleading price. the price I thought it would be was $100 more than I thought it would be. On the shelf, the price for a different item was there (in small print), there was not a price (in large print) for what I bought. Oh well, maybe the price was fair, I buy them every two decades. I needed it now, so ok. took the sticker off the shelf for the misleading item. took the things out, and checked them, one did not work. had to go back and the box suggested that they had had it returned before for not working, but just put it back on the shelf. I dunno. such agro. but, they had things I needed. I think I'll try them in 5 years. I will go back only if I have to. The folks were ok, but the system, overall, is not. a little price misleading, some long lines, some broken things, and pretty soon you have a review like this. read more

Raphael!! (the older gentleman in the bike department at Hanover, MA Dick's store) He is awesome!! I called Hanover and spoke to Raphael who said I could bring in my older but loved bike so I did. I hadn't used it for a while, but he had my bike looking like new in no time!! We even ended up buying a brand new bike (on another receipt from the same day/visit) for my daughter while we were waiting for the bike to be fixed. I appreciate Raphael's honest opinion about the bike size and general information about the right bike to buy for my daughter. In the future, I will be bringing my bike back to Raphael for all future service and advice on bike purchases. Also, Raphael was able to manage multiple customers while still working on my bike. I noticed he paged to let his coworkers know a couple of times he had multiple customers but I don't think anyone came to help him! Regardless, he helped us all and fixed my bike in no time!! Multitasking for sure but I never felt as though my bike was just sitting there and not being worked on. I never felt like he was putting us aside. I appreciate the attention he gave me and my family and interest he had in making sure we knew what size bike we should buy, etc. and making sure my bike was good to go. Very knowledgeable, experienced as well. (I asked how he got into fixing bikes.) Dick's Sporting Goods hired the right person....Raphael! And Raphael, if you are reading this we already went on a couple of family bike rides and my daughter absolutely loves her mint green and black bike!! Thank you!! read more

Since 2012 (when Dick's Sporting Goods opened in Hanover) I have been an avid customer. Like so many, I was happy to purchase my ammunition, sneakers, gym ware, socks, sports equipment, etc from this location. When my daughter was younger, and I would have to wait for her to finish up at the nearby Y or her School, I was only too happy to spend an hour + walking around this store. Almost always finding a friendly conversation with a staff member and/or something I wanted to buy. Usually both. Fast forward to Sunday 6/15/2020: I was excited to hear that Dick's Hanover was open for business. So much so, I was there in the morning, ready to make a few purchases. As I walked around, I actually became sad. The firearm section was gone. The clothing selection is completely dominated by Nike. Virtually everything else on the racks and shelves is made in China. The 4 stars are simply for the staff. I initially gave 1 star but didn't think that it would be fair to penalize them because of the company's downhill direction. read more

I like yelping about good service and I got it from not one but two folks. I was kayak shopping and just lifting a boat to feel the weight and a very helpful young women asked if I needed help, I asked a few questions that she easily answered but when I asked something a bit more technical she called for a colleague named Derrick. Derrick new just about everything on the subject and was super helpful, took his time, answered even the dumbest of new person questions with patients. read more

Absolutely terrible. Went here for shoes with my father. We went to the shoe department where there was one other person looking for shoes. The people working in the shoe department didn't speak to us. Then when my father wanted to try on a pair he had to approach them. They scanned the shoe and said "we don't have it in your size" how about, "want to see if we can order it in your size? Or "want to try it on in a different color for a size check and we can order your size in the color you want" nope. They just walked away. So we looked at another pair and my father said "how about these" and they scanned the shoe then just turned around and walked away never said "I'll bring them out" or anything: he handed the box to my father and walked away. Never said let me know if they fit or you need another size. Never even checked back in. We left and purchased shoes at another shoe store. Their loss. Customer service is non existent! Will never be back. read more

Went in recently to buy my son sport goggles and walked out having bought 2 kayaks for hubby for Father's Day. They were having a sale and the young woman I spoke to seemed so knowledgable that I felt really comfortable pulling the trigger on a decision I've been waffling around for over a year now. Then when I came back to pick them up the two guys who helped install kayak racks and load them on my car were awesome -- knew how to use the racks and the right knots to tie, etc, to make sure everything was secure. They did everything they could legally do to load them (which was a lot, as it turned out -- I had very little hands-on to do myself and nothing that required strength or skill). I was very impressed as I usually shop at REI so I can get good customer service but this was really excellent (and Dick's sells racks other than Yakima or Thule if you want to save money - the one they installed on my Yakima bars looked to be very good quality and was much less expensive than a brand name would have been). I will be checking out Dick's for my next sporty purchase for sure! read more

Christmas before last, Rodger Sterling from Mad Men threw a football to an adorable kid inside this Dick's location, and almost hit me with it. Last Christmas, my fella bought me a rather fantastic pair of UnderArmour running shorts here while we waited for his brother to wrap his shopping up for the season. Yay! read more

So I came in bought my kid a mountain bike it was cool he loves it after one day the tire went bare how idk no clue . I for sure thought I would get NOWERE calling the store so I went online for help through there texting app well after one day Anthony called me from the store he was so great went out of his way to talk to me and dick totally has awesome customer service cause Anthony sent me a tire for my son in 2 day mail. I can't believe how great this store is and how great Anthony was to work with . He understood me and understood the issue and he guaranteed me a quick solution that O would be happy with . I said I'd just like a non bald tire that be cool he said come on down but I wasn't able to get back there so he mailed me out one . Big thanks to Anthony over at dicks sporting goods Hanover . This will for sure be my new go to store for anything sports or outdoors . Keep up the great work . read more

First of all the ONLY reason I'm giving this a 2 star review is because Cathy at the register was nice and understanding and gave me 50% off my 3rd visit to the store. To start I went in originally on a Wednesday to simply get one of my fishing reels spun with 50 lb braided line. Not only did it take over 30 mins to be helped but was told to come in the following day because the person running the station that night wasn't the best experienced. I appreciated the honesty and left to come back the next day. When I returned Thursday after work I was once again told that the person who was supposed to be running the station wasn't going to be at work that day and that the next person on duty wouldn't be in for another hour. I was told I can either come back again the next day or wait around. I was offered that if I waited I could possibly get a discount for the inconvenience. I left and decided to come back an hour later. Finally someone was able to put some line on my reel after coming back for the 3rd time already. When I got my spool back the line was uneven and messy but I left with it anyways come to find out that weekend that something was wrong with my reel. The person who put the line on didn't secure it to the reel properly so the whole bundle of line just spun freely on the spool which left it useless. I went back again today and explained what was wrong and left it with them to fix the problem. When I came back to pick up the reel, Pete, was trying to explain to me that when I left the reel with him it was not in the locking position and thats why the line was loose pretty much implying I was stupid for not knowing how to use my reel. When I tried to explain to him that even in the locking position the line was freely moving on the spool itself before I brought it back, he still emphasized that it was because of the spool not being in the locking position when I dropped it off as to why it was loose. Either way I left but came back shortly because I had a feeling that the line that was put on was not the line I asked for originally. When I went back in now for the 5th and final time I asked him what lb line he put on it he told me he put 40 lb test on it instead of the original 50 lb I wanted on it. I told him wanted 50 lb on it and paid for 50 lb test line. He answered with "you pay the same price for 40 lb braid and 50 lb braid." If I wanted 40 lb I would of asked for 40 lb braid instead of 50 lb. You don't go somewhere to order a pizza but get served a cheeseburger instead because it's the same price! I finally left after the 5th time with a full spool properly spun with the 50 lb test line that I originally asked for. Long story short it took 5 visits to the store just to get 1 reel done properly. The store needs more than 1 qualified person to work the hunting/fishing section and the people that do work it should be better trained. Pete needs to get his attitude in check because I've never dealt with such rude customer service before. read more

Canadian Visiting: Was looking at Dick's golf equipment and apparel but almost everything was more expensive than at home. Selection was poor. Mostly lower quality items. Prefer Canadian Sporting Good stores. Heard a lot about Dick's and was disappointed. read more

We were shopping and happened to come across a hard to find item. While the Hanover store did not have it, in my size, they checked and found that the Natick store had one in stock. This was late on a Sunday so they agreed to hold it until the end of the day Monday. My wife went to the Natick store the next day (about an hour round trip out of her way) only to be told they didn't have the item they set aside for us. Neither store offered anything in terms of compensation for wasting our time (or causing us to miss out on other opportunities to get the item). read more

Mark in the golf department really went above and beyond in terms of customer service. My wife bought a driver and fairway wood at this store three months back but accidentally lost the head cover during a recent golf outing. Unfortunately, it was a customized white head cover only available at Dick's. After receiving our frantic call, Mark and his supervisor helped us right way to get replacements. They even shipped it free of charge out-of-state to us! I've not seen this level of customer service at a retail chain in quite a while, so I wanted to write this review to commend this store for being so customer-centric. You've won yourself a customer for life - please keep up the good work! read more

Took my daughter to Dick's today as she needed softball cleats and had a gift card.  She also picked out some exercise leggings.  Once again, in spite of having a handful of coupons, we couldn't use any of them.  This is the second time I have been to Dick's in the last 6 months.  Both times I couldn't use a coupon for a technicality.  Today the cleats didn't count as apparel for one coupon. I guess you are supposed to know that shoes are not apparel. It doesn't say it on the coupon.  I had another coupon for softball cleats but they don't carry one pair that cost enough to be able to use that coupon either.  We used up the gift cards that we had today.  I won't go back to Dick's unless I absolutely have to. read more
