I've used Dick's Moving twice. The first time was a local move, the second was to move out of state. At the front end, everything went fine, but the delivery was not. The first time we moved we lost one rather large item. That should have been a lesson learned, but apparently I don't learn all my lessons well. On the second, most recent move, I approximate 5 to 6 boxes were lost. There are several items missing and I know I packed them for the move. The house was empty when they drove away. Where did those boxes go? The plus points are the TVs, paintings, glassware, furniture were all delivered in good shape. They set up the furniture exactly where I asked them to. MOVING TRUCK CAUGHT FIRE AND THEY ARE STILL MAKING MY PARENTS PAY FOR THE MOVE. My 85/93 year old parents hired this company to move them from Florida to Michigan. The day before we were expecting the delivery, I received a call that the moving truck was FULLY ENGULFED IN FLAMES on the highway. My parents lost everything. My mom only had the outfit she wore on the plane. They offered us NO immediate help. They turned it over to their insurance company that made my parents give an accounting of what was on the truck. We spent 6 very emotional days filling out this rediculously detailed list, only to find out that they are reimbursing them at the rate of sixty cents per pound!! We have spent the last month trying to replace their necessities and it has been exhausting. 90+ years of family photos are gone. The owner will not return our call and as of today they have not even reimbursed them for the cost of the move. The owner told his general manager to tell us that "the loading of the truck went fine", so they are only giving them 1/2 back. read more

Dave came to my home to give an estimate to move from Florida to Minnesota in March! He was very thorough, asking questions to make sure his estimate would be correct. It was a fair estimate, and after pestering Angelina several times (to make sure their truck could get into snow-piled storage areas!), Fred, Colby, Carl and Joe showed up to load. In two hours they had completed the job, even having to pack TVs and other loose items. Fred was very thorough in making sure he had all the correct info for delivery in Minnesota. I met Fred and David (a local contract person) at the storage on the agreed date. Unfortunately, the lock for the truck side door was completely frozen, and after trying everything they could (unsuccessfully), they had to open a different door to unload. The ramp was not usable so they had to lift everything down out of the truck. The temperature was in the low 30s, and they had to deal with ice and snow as Fred brought items to door and David got them into the storage unit, making sure every item was accessible to me! I was in a bind and needed to move rather quickly, upon calling Dick's, the owner came out at the scheduled appointment time and answered all of my questions. His staff was very polite and courteous and did a fantastic job with my move. I was concerned since many of my pieces of furniture are antiques and non-replaceable. Fabulous experience. The crew showed up exactly on time. They were extremely polite and friendly. They listened carefully as we walked through the house and explained what stayed and what needed to be packed and put into storage. They got right to work and worked nonstop for two days, packing up the entire household and loading it on the truck. They expressed great appreciation for the food and drink we supplied. The really important part was that I had a fall (completely my fault) and Burt and Joe came to me immediately with kindness and support. I cannot tell you how much that meant. We hired 2 men to move some items locally that should have been a 2 hour job. It took 3 1/2 hrs with my husband having to help unload. One guy just kind of stood around and had to be told everything to do. We called to complain since we paid almost double due to ineptitude on the mover"s part. We never heard back from them. We moved from Florida to RI and had our things in storage for 1 month. When they delivered our things, there was a lot missing. Driver made notes of some of the things missing. Called them and they said they didn't know where our stuff could be! Are you kidding? About 3 weeks later, the lady there called to say they found our things and they would be delivered. Come to find out there was a woman working there that had moved our stuff to a different area. They ended up firing her. Well,we got some and I do mean some of our stuff. We are missing so many things, including some nice relatively new suitcases. I guess someone out there somewhere is enjoying our things. The company sent us $250 dollars to compensate us. Big deal, some of the things someone else is enjoying does not have a price. We would never and I mean NEVER recommend this company to anyone. Our realtor had recommended them and when she heard what happened to us, i truly believe she will not recommend them again. I have called a number of times, since this all began in October of 2020. I will call again next week and tell them we have been finding more and more things missing! This is a crime! If there is someone out there with our stuff, how can they live with the fact that it all belongs to someone else. Please let others know of this. Loading our things went smoothly. Then there was problems with their truck so they were five days late. Ok they could have at least kept us informed. I had to keep calling them to see what was going on. When our things finally arrived they were in a hurry to unload. Seemed annoyed when I wanted things in a certain place. After unpacking we were missing a box of kitchen utensils and a table for the deck. They have no idea where it could be. I suspect it went to someone else as we got an umbrella stand that isnt ours. I would give these people a negative star with the service they extended us. They lost our antique hall tree and when we called about it they found it on another truck. ?? They would not send it to me (too expensive) so I had a friend pick it up. It wasn't there when she went, so she had to go back again. Upon unpacking our stuff, after they had stored it for two months, they had broken 8 glasses, two small figurines my grandson had made me, an antique pitcher worth $75. and a miter saw worth $200. Since I did not pay for additional insurance, and (in small writing) they don't cover anything that is made of glass, they sent me a check for $30. That was 60 cents per pound for the miter saw only. Do yourself a favor and use another company, even if it is more expensive. You will save money in the long run. I will never, never ever use this rip off company again. read more

Can you say "Take advantage of the elderly?" My parents used them & during the move gave them some things. Apparently they thought that meant they could take whatever they wanted! Since I wasn't there while they packed up, goodness knows what all else they stole. AND because my parents thought they were so nice & did such a good job, not realizing they took a bike, ladder & who knows what, my mom ga e them a $100 tip! Can you believe it?!? I do NOT recommend Dick's moving. It took them forever to move JUST furniture. We handled all the contents of our household ourselves. Our big screen tv was ruined and some of our furniture had dents and scratches. There were even a few small things that they left at the old house and we had to return to retrieve them. They weren't careful unloading furniture at our newly constructed home and some walls were scraped and dirtied. The movers took it upon themselves to put their water in our freezer to get them extra cold without even asking permission. We even ended up having to give them our bottled water. A month later and we are still finding damages to some of our belongings. Today we noticed the mattress in the guest room has some sort of metal piece sticking out of the side. We need to check that out to see what they did to it. Wonder what else we will find as we settle in. read more

We were very pleased with Dick's Moving when we left Ocala, FL. The movers were excellent and our belongings were carefully placed in the truck. However, while in "climate controlled" storage for 2 1/2 months, some of our furniture had major pad imprints on the finishes of the furniture. Then, upon our arrival at our destination in South Carolina, about 10 pieces were damaged due to the hiring of "individuals in a labor pool" NOT professional movers. We watched as our dining table was unloaded and placed end down on the street, as well as several other pieces. Damage occurred. Word to the wise-if you use this company for this kind of a move, get additional insurance. You will need it. read more

We used Dicks moving Nov. 1012 .There was alot of items broken. When we puy in a claim they only gave us pennys on the dollor.They also put holes in our wall when they put our dresser in the bedroom.They also showed up 3 hours late in the mornig and didnt finish moving us till 9 pm at night. In the move my range handle was scratched and the oven doesn't work now... Dick's did nothing but insult us and say it was our fault. It was clearly damaged by them and they didn't seem to care. Although the crews at both departure and delivery were nice, the office staff was rude, disrespectful and boldly lied on several occasions. When it was realized after the movers left that they forgot to take several boxes , but that they mistakenly took a suitcase my mother called them. The suitcase had their winter clothes (moving from FL to MA in December) that they were to take on the plane with them, but most importantly had all my fathers medication. They called back to the cell number provided to say that they could not find the suitcase. Additionally, they had advised prior to the move that they ONLY had one date, a Sunday, available to deliver, which was perfect for us. They never called to confirm, and never showed up that day, or the Dsy after that, nor returned any of the 5 messages left. They advised us that they did not have any other numbers other than the old home. Hello... THEY ARE MOVING THEM! BE SURE TO GET FORWARDING PHONE NUMBER IS MOVING 101! When we told them that the driver at departure was given 2 different cell numbers as well as a destination home number, AND that she had been given a cell number which she called back to advise about the suitcase they took in error, her respond was "oops, I guess things fall through the cracks. That happens sometimes"!! Really!?!?! I asked to speak to manager, and was told he was not in.. I asked for owner, and was told that the manager was actually the owner. He was out until the next day. I asked for a number to speak to him directly and wad told NO. I called back the next day, and for several days after (excluding holiday). I left four messages for Mr. Corns and never received a single phone call back. COMPLETELY UNPROFESSIONAL, RUDE , AND INDIFFERNT OFFICE STAFF! The driver showed up two days later. And guess what was one of the very first things off the truck .... The suitcase!! My guess is they didn't even look for this. read more

We had them move us about 6 years ago and they were excellent. But they must have changed ownership or management because they moved us last year and they were terrible. They moved the same amount of things back as they had taken to TN, but charged us substantially more. The driver brought his two young children with him. He expected us to let them stay in our home the whole day that it took them to load. We have expensive danish furniture made of teak wood and the wood was gouged, scratched and covered with white stains. They were unable to take the headboard from the bed frame. We had to call on the woman across the street to come and get it apart. Vases, were packed inside each other and as a result one, a signed piece, was cracked. An art object was not wrapped in paper therefore the finish on the statute was scraped. I could go on about other damage and "lost articles" but the worst was the service we received from the staff and especially the owner. After many phone calls requesting someone to come and "do something" to repair the damages, the owner came to make some repairs. We asked him to sit down and talk with us about the problems. He was unwilling to do so. After being in the house less than 5 minutes he made several profane statements and left. The damage to the bed was not repaired nor any of our complaints addressed. DEFINITELY WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THEM! read more

Choosing this company was a bad decision . This company moved my furniture from my home in Ocala, to their storage where it was held for approximately one month, then moved to my new home in Tampa, Florida. My furniture was made by a well know manufacture, Ethan Allen. It is sturdy pine, and well taken care of for many years. It was delivered with broken hardware, every single piece of furniture had scrapes, scratches, many pieces had actual gouges in the wood. One entire large box of household items was "lost". A 5 ft. aluminum ladder was "lost". The response I got when notifying their office was disinterested at best " It must have been left on the truck". ( I walked into the truck and nothing was left ). Then the response changed to "the items couldn't have been left in the storage because they sweep it out " WELL, THEN, Apparently this company has thieves either driving their trucks or working in their storage area. Since I chose to pack my own belongings and did not choose the extra insurance ( big mistake) I received $73 for my damaged and lost items. My total moving bill was in excess of $3,000.00. If you are moving furniture that you can replace or do not particularly care about then this company is for you. Be sure to have them pack for you & take the extra insurance. Then, if you find something lost, stolen or missing you will have some reimbursement. P.S. I ask on 2 different phone calls for the owner to call me. I never received a response. read more
