I have been to both locations the Dunkirk and Prince Frederick location. Both locations are very welcoming. I went initially with a family member and ended up finding a beautiful pink sapphire ring. Claude was absolutely amazing and let me put the ring on lay away and made sure the ring would be at the closer location for me. A lady told me they could put a silicone band on both rings which she did but the best part while checking my engagement ring she discovered one of the prongs was in very bad shape. Claude and Kathy are wonderful people who try to make sure they only hire the best to provide the level of service they demand for their customers. I shop mostly with Sherrie at the Dunkirk store; she knows my taste and I always have a great time shopping and laughing with her. This is a terrific place to purchase jewelry all of the sales people are very kind when you come in they do great everyone someone will ask if there's something they can help you with, if your like myself I prefer to browse alone and when I'm ready or need to ask questions I will. It's not that I don't want the help I just want to look around and see what they have on my own I understand they are just trying to help. And that's what I like about here they let you browse without haggling you so for that reason I keep coming back. Rather than purchase online, I called the Prince Frederick location. I received the warmest customer service from a woman named Arielle. She looked up the items and told me they were at the Dunkirk location. I then spoke to Kathy Dickinson at the Dunkirk location...who could not have been more helpful or lovely in helping me with my order. My fiancée designed an engagement ring for me, only problem was it was too big. I took it to Dickinson's to get it resized. Spoke with two people about what I needed done and made sure to check that the ring would look the same after it had been resized, only smaller. I was assured multiple times that it would, and shown where they would cut and take the metal out of. Fast forward to a week later, I got to pick up my ring and they destroyed it, cut right through the details on the back. I expressed how it did not look right to the sales lady and she made me pay for it and told me to bring it back in a couple of days if I still didn't like it. I was also not given the metal they took out of it. I was distraught, I spoke with the owner Claude the next day and he was very condescending and basically told me that it couldn't be fixed. My fiancée spent the next week having words with them to get it back to the original design. What should have been a simple alteration turned into quite the ordeal, and really put a damper on mine and my fiancées excitement about the engagement. I will never go back there, and hope that I do not have to interact with the owner ever again. read more

I got a large beautiful pair of silver hoop earrings for Christmas. They had a thin curved wire for pierced ears and a small silver ball at the end that I could not get through my holes. I brought them in to have them changed to a stiff, straight bar. It took less than two weeks and I can wear them now with no problems. The jeweler explained what they had to do personally. I have purchased several items from Dickinson for my girlfriend and every time I felt I got a fair deal and good value for my money. A local family owned business that is active in the community as well. Some jewelers can be profit driven or even a bit commercialized. Dickinson Jewelers seem to me to be good decent people making an honest living. That is a HUGE plus in the jewelry industry. Brought my watch in for a simple battery change. They completely broke the watch. The face has fallen out and it needs a new movement. They lost parts and asked us to return 3 separate times to "fix it". We did so, but watch has yet to be fixed. Each time we came in, they had a different excuse as to why they could not fix the watch. In addition, they are refusing to pay for the manufacturer to repair it properly. We will never trust Dickinson Jewelers with our belongings again and I would not recommend their services to anyone. Very, very disappointing experience. read more

I had the worst customer service today. My bf bought 2 $50 gift cards for Dickinson Jewelers back in Nov 2012. I live about 40 mins away and don't get to Prince Frederick too often but I assumed they would expire a year from Nov so I had enough time. Well on Sat I thought I have to get up there it has almost been a whole year. I looked at the cards and they expired Dec 31, 2012. 51 DAYS LATER AFTER my bf bought them. I called seconds later to ask if they could please honor them since it was a $100 and said I can be up there Monday. Never got a call back so on Monday drove up there. The lady working there went and asked the manager. He said they are no longer any good BUT they MAGICALLY become good if I spent $400!! No compromising that was his compromise. I would have been satisfied if he would have just honored one of the $50 cards.. The money hungry greedy owner lost mine and my family's business. If I could rate 0 stars I would. Also after this I found out it is Maryland law since 2010 that store specific gift cards CAN NOT expire within 5 YEARS of purchase. So by law he has to honor both with NO stipulations. read more
