Dickinson recently came to handle our home insurance through Twin City Fire Insurance and The Hartford. They have just refused to renew our insurance because they say we failed to arrange for a home inspection. Despite their claim that the inspector phoned 3 times to make an appointment, we have no record that he did so. Nor did we receive any warning notice before the arrival of the notice of nonrenewal. When spoken with on the phone, they simply restated their claim that the inspector had reached out even though we can find no evidence that he did either by voicemail, text, email, or regular mail. read more

For the past nine years this agency and its personnel were excellent. I could call and get answers to questions almost immediately and my calls were returned promptly . The past year it has degraded in to a mess, I ask the agent if there was a cheaper vehicle insurance and she assured me she would look for it. I never received a return call. I called to cancelled my insurance 3 months ago as I had found the same coverage cheaper and was assured it would be taken care of. Today I got a notice of past due. No wonder my rebate never showed up. This is really sad because there were really nice people working there. read more

I loved Dickinson for 8yrs and had no issues with their responsiveness. But for over a month, my agent has refused to cancel my policies. First they told me via phone that I was all set, the second time they said I would receive and email confirmation - I did not. They continue to bill me and refuse to cancel. They are very careful to not mention 'service' on their website - they only mention that they will insure you. So I've used Dickinson for the past 3 years or so, and price-wise- yes... they have the best deals for car insurance that I've found, given my driving record isn't great. No real issues with the company until last month... I made some policy changes (adding a vehicle, selling a vehicle, etc), and the agent that helped me was Chad Ortega. He was friendly on the phone, and gave me a quote, through Progressive, that he had "locked in". Fast forward a week, I called Chad back to activate the policy, and it suddenly went from $120 a month, to $300... I asked him how that could be, and he stated it was a glitch in the system, and there is nothing he could do to help me. He even agreed that it was bizarre, yet could not explain. As you could imagine, I was beyond frustrated about such a misconstrued quote amount. Another two weeks later, and I get an email that I OWE an additional $130 dollars on the policy that was cancelled. Now... I understand balances, and pro-rated amounts, however Mr. Chad Ortega had told me that the balance was squared away, and I did not owe anything. I take my money seriously, and I don't like receiving inaccurate information when it has to do with my money. So Dickinson itself- I'll give 4 stars. However the whole experience with Chad- negative stars. Make sure you work with an agent that knows what they're talking about, and get documentation for everything. EVERYTHING. read more
