The first time I went to Allen was actually to fix my hair from my previous hair person. I was almost in tears because my hair was orange literally the week after I got it done and dropped so much money. my hair felt so dry and looked like I havent gotten my hair done in a year. I tried to tell myself it doesn't look that bad but the more I looked at it, the more upset I got. So I was looking for someone on yelp to help me fix this and came across Moc Hair Studio. The reviews were great and although I was nervous I couldn't stand to look at my hair anymore the way it was so I took the leap of faith and gave it a try. Allen was so informative and let me know what exactly my previous hair person did to make it look like that. He explained what he will do to fix it and throughout the entire process I could tell how meticulous he was. I felt like I was in good hands and after he was done, my hair looked like what I wanted it to look like in the first place!! I was so impressed with his work that I decided the next time I needed my hair done I'm coming back. Fast forward to yesterday.. I wanted a change with my hair so I decided to go back to Allen and see what magic he could work. I wanted to try something a bit different from what I usually go for and I knew Allen could do it but from previous trauma of going to the same person multiple times and never getting exactly what I wanted, I was still scared. Again he calmed my nerves by taking his time and making sure everything looked perfect. I've never been to anyone before where I felt like I was his only customer ever by the way he was taking second third and even fourth looks to make sure the color is right, the hair is even on both sides, and the hair is healthy and not damaged!! After my consultation, I got extensions done with her, and I immediately noticed how incredible her eye for color matching is. That's honestly her magic. She knows how to create a full makeover with extensions while keeping your own hair healthy and minimizing unnecessary bleaching or damage, everything always blends so naturally. It was great. For the color, she said that a lighter color might not actually look the best on me and a subtle brown might be better! I was pretty down for whatever she thought looked good so I trusted the process again. Let me tell you... this subtle brown looked so good with the cut. Also, my hair? Soft as HECK. This was my first time getting color at this salon and I am very disappointed. I asked for natural…read morelight brown highlights and specifically told my stylist I did not want a balayage. Then when my stylist was putting the foils halfway down my hair I reminded her I did not want a balayage and wanted more natural lighter highlights just around my face. She explained what she was doing would create natural highlights throughout. I figured she's supposedly the expert. Sure enough when she removed the foils I had a balayage. Then when she tried to fix it, she made it worse as I now have striped copper lines in my hair. Not light brown, like I asked, they're copper!! Literal stripes down my head, it's quite embarrassing and I wore a hat for the rest of the day. And I'll have to continue to cover my hair until I can get it fixed elsewhere. They look worse in person than in the photos too. Soooo frustrating and especially so because when I called to make the appointment I specifically ask for someone with a lot of experience as I have not had my hair colored or highlighted in a long time and I wanted a very natural lighter highlight.
