Today I had an urgent situation with my cat. My regular vet is closed on weekends, so I came here…read morebecause it's within walking distance, as I don't have a car. I arrived early and apologized for it when I came in--I would rather be early than late--but the receptionist seemed annoyed. I had previously explained that I didn't have my cat's records on hand, but that she has a history of chronic UTIs. I was told that without records, she would need a rabies vaccine, and I agreed to that without hesitation. The only documentation I was able to find between getting off work and going to the appointment was an email showing she was due for her vaccine about a month ago. I understand that this isn't official documentation, but they continued to emphasize that they needed her history. If she was going to get the shot regardless I don't understand why they had such an attitude about it. We were there for a completely unrelated emergency situation. The overall interaction came across as unfriendly and unwelcoming. In an already stressful situation, I did not feel confident or comfortable with the level of care or communication. Any business with reception knows they make or break your business. I have only seen the vet their once before. When my mom was alive she took her cat there. I don't even know why i tired because his medical advice for her cat at the time was terrible. She clearly has FHS and they had No idea!!!! I will not be returning

My experiences at this vet range between ok and great. No major complaints except the cost. Preparing myself in advance doesn't help as it always ends up being much higher.

They are really good at accommodating same day sick requests. They also have a wonderful PT dept who have helped many of our older pets when they have had joint issues. We own a dog walking / pet sitting business and when our clients ask for a vet recommendation, we don't hesitate to refer them to KVH.

Vibe changed, level of personal attention decreased, prices went up. Techs would appear from behind a door, take your dog, disappear with your dog back behind the door, all very robotically/impersonally. What finally led us to leave was this. We took our dog for round of vaccinations, which cost more than $400. When we called to make the appointment and they asked what else we wanted done, we mentioned a small growth on his eyelid they had seen before and asked them to eyeball it again to see if it looked like it was getting larger and could or should be removed. We reminded them of this when the tech took him back behind the door to be "processed" as they now do. When they brought him back out, I asked whether they looked at the growth on his eyelid. They said no, and if we wanted that they would have to charge us for an exam. (If I recall correctly, the standard fee for "exam" -- added on as part and parcel of any service you get there where a doctor (not a tech) is involved -- is about $100.) I said to forget it and walked out the door, deciding right then and there to finally change practices. (People in our neighborhood had been making similar observations on the neighborhood FB page about service/care/prices at KVH changing negatively over the last year.) The notion that they couldn't just look quickly at something readily visible without charging more, over and above the $400 I just spent, was really poor, callous customer relations -- particularly with a client the women at the front desk knew had been going to them for years.

(In that respect, the doctor doesn't mind it wasn't me taking my pig to see her, very accommodating.) Regrettably, after my first female guinea pig that runs around and talks back to me died, I have little to no interest in the other girls that followed. I have one male who manages to have a cyst last summer, and Dr Hileman had to run a test. Everything came under control, and the pig is cleaned up tho a tad underweight. Tho I do have a dog that also sees her, but because this place is one that takes exotic small pets, I keep going back. The doctor is very gentle. (This place was recommended to me years ago, so I am just one of many that comes here.)

Do NOT apply here…read more There's only one doctor here, and she treats her employees terribly--constantly nitpicking, micromanaging, and making the work environment tense and miserable. She wonders why people keep quitting, but the truth is you either leave on your own (like I was fortunate enough to do) or you get fired for not being "perfect." You only get about 60 hours every two weeks, and there's zero room for growth--don't expect a raise or any kind of advancement. There's no direct deposit either. Your checks are mailed (sometimes late), because apparently the clinic "doesn't make enough money." Also, be prepared for constant political conversations whether you want to hear them or not. If you want to be respected and treated like a decent human being, this is not the place for you.

He performed dental surgery on my cat and there were no post-op issues. My cat was healthy and happy after the vet. The no-so-good? 1) One of the cats they let roam around had an eye infection, I was concerned the cat would spread it but the vets assistant took the cat away when a customer brought it to her attention. 2) If you don't ask enough questions, they'll surprise you with the cost of their services. This can be true of any service but I inquired about their grooming service and comprehensive wellness check. They said it would cost around $600 (because of anesthesia). When I picked him up from his appointment they charged me $1,900!! The vet performed 7 tooth extractions and did not even call to let me know. The vet said to me, "I didn't think money was an issue" Because my pet insurance reimburses me 80%. But I still had to pay up front. I was surprised each tooth cost about $50-$75 and wish they'd been more transparent. They took off $200 to make me "feel better". ALWAYS ASK QUESTIONS and brush your cats coat and teeth so you don't need a vet for that. My lessons have been learned! 3) Another thing to keep in mind. The vet performed the surgery well, Koda had no post-op issues at all! However, because the vet has to stand while operating, he charges more. This is understandable given the vet seems to limp when they walk but again they didn't let me know that beforehand. I would trust them to perform an excellent surgery but ask as many questions about what to expect before you commit.
