My preliminary experience with diamondhelpers dot com betrayed the very sort of dishonest behavior that Robert Hensley claims to avoid.
Essentially, he says that in return for your email address, he'll share his list of local jewelers. You submit the form and guess what....one of the "two dozen" that he's located in the US does not exist in your area. But never to worry, he'll provide you with an online diamond vendor that will help you with your needs.
Robert is a master at the web game, he's no dummy, the company he refers you to is paying him to refer you to them. He's not in any way impartial, it's a moneymaking scheme, albeit a slightly more respectable version. It's not downright fraudulent, but please don't believe this guy is not out to make a buck at your expense and without you understanding the way he breaks your trust.
If you don't believe me take a look at the experience of one shopper at diamondring dot com. He used a MANHATTAN zip code to try to find one of Robert's local jewelers. Nope, if you live in Manhattan you can ONLY trust the very same online broker that Robert sent me to. By the way, I live in the San Francisco bay area, another HUGE metro that should contain at least one of Robert's two-dozen trustworthy jewelers.
Oh yeah, he's also a liar because he shares your email addy with that online partner when his privacy policy explicitly states that he won't show third parties your info. Lies.
So why the two stars instead of one? Well, to be fair, the information on his site does appear to be about 75% in the consumer's interest. You just have to realize that when he starts recommending where you go to purchase your diamond, that's when he makes his buck off of you, and potentially with consequences to your wallet.
Yelp folks, I really hope you post this, as it is a legitimate review for a slightly unscrupulous business. read more
