He sorted out the various grades of gold and started to weigh and price them out. I had weighed the items before going and knew there were 28 DWT of 14k gold. 28 X $55 = $1540. He had written down less than $1100. I asked if that was what he going to give me and he said, "yes". That was less than $40 a DWT. While I was putting my items back in a container he said $50 was the best he could do. Less than he stated on the phone but an offer I most likely would have accepted. Why not just make an honest offer to start with?
