I saved my 75th Yelp review for a truly world-class, out-of-the-way, go-there-for-the-adventure…read morekind of place. This is it. Sandra and Clay, Californians who have settled on the gorgeous Oregon coast, run a superb country B&B on the banks of the Chetco River, down a bumpy, forested road just outside of Brookings. They prepare delicious dinners (on request) and scrumptious breakfasts, have a wonderfully rustic but elegant room selection, and truly make you feel at home in a place that is so calm, scenic, and clean that you will find it occupying precious space in your storehouse of travel memories. You feel privileged to spend time there. If you like to hike or kayak, or if you just enjoy sitting in front of a crackling firepit, star-gazing at night, sleeping in to the sounds of silence, or hanging out in the front porch, you can go from a high-impact vacation to a go-slow and let-the-earth-pass-you-by experience in an instant. We bought a bottle of Oregon Pinot Noir for dinner, which consisted of Clay's grilled wild salmon and Sandra's excellent vegetables, sides, and desert. Had we not been on a cross-country road trip and due in Eureka, CA the next day, we would have lingered. Great for couples in love of all ages, parents and nature-loving kids, friends who like to road trip and see the Pacific Northwest, and B&B aficionados who like to experience something out of the ordinary.

It's a MUST for any traveler up the NorCal/Oregon coast. There's a spiritual aspect to the place. Tony, the owner, has been there over 30 years. His deep sense of calm permeates everything. You are right on the water and two delightful animals are your only company - Chica the dog, and Cuca the cat. Or maybe it's the other way around. We stayed in the Nest. It was perfect for two! There were two darling little plates of coffee cake left for us. A big giant coffeemaker, and two little containers in the fridge, one of fresh oj, the the other of milk. The rooms were spotless. Folks have left little signed pieces of driftwood and rocks around the room. We did ours on a rock. You feel like you are on your own private beach and indeed you are. This little gem, hidden at the border of California and Oregon, is not to be missed. I'm so grateful I found this place. Thank you Tony for a wonderful, wonderful experience!
