The doctor is very understanding and takes the time to discuss the medical issue with you.

Where do I start? I had seen Dr. Marshall, about a year and a half ago for an ingrown toenail. She…read moredid the quick procedure in her office on that day. That evening, I was in severe pain. The pain was so pain that painkillers did not help! I called the next morning and asked to be seen ASAP! They staff squeezed me in. When I saw Dr. Marshall, she asked what was wrong, and I told her something didn't feel right, I'm in excruciating pain! She looked at my toe and said, that's just tissue trying to heal. If you want, I can take a closer look. I said yes, please, because this pain is unbearable. Before I knew it, she had a tool in her hand and dug it right into the wound to feel around. I practically jumped out of the seat. I was angry, upset, and extremely disappointed! When I got home, I called another podiatrist for a second opinion. When I went in for a 2nd opinion, Dr. Walker looked and told me there's a small piece of nail still in there. I had to have another procedure to have it taken out. Due to Dr. Marshall not fully taking out that section of nail and having the process done again... it never grew back normal. Now, I'm going in tomorrow to get that part of my toenail chemically killed off, so I will not have any more problems. So, after that incident, no I do not recommend this office at all!

It has caused her pain to walk and due to this I made an appointment with our regular GP. We are Kaiser refugees and since I know how to work that system and not our new insurance system, I didn't know that I could have skipped our GP all together and took her straight to the podiatrist. Anyway, saw the GP, GP was useless. Couldn't tell what it was w/ her foot. The gave me the number for Dr. Stewart. Dr. Stewart's office is in the same Dr. complex, so I walked in (daughter in tow) to make an appointment. They were able to take her straight away. Dr. Stewart made it a point to connect with her. To put her at ease. Asked her questions. Joked with her, and lo and behold was able to diagnose her issue easily. The office staff was super professional and competent, and Dr. Stewart was so good that my daughter said she wished he could be her "everything" doctor. Whew, what a relief to have found this specialist office!

I told him no thank you because I was concerned that if he didn't do it right the first time, what would I end up with if he did it a second time? Years later, when I went to another podiatrist to have my feet looked at, I was asked who did the surgery on my right foot for the bunion. Before I had a chance to answer, he asked me if it was Dr. Teplin. When I acknowledged that it was, he told me that he wasn't surprised.

I didn't go to ER and my toe started to hurt a lot. I finally got x rays and I had a small fracture and a piece of rock in my foot that had healed over. Dr. Teplin saw me, looked at my toe and said he would get me into a shoe insert. I explained that I have to wear fancy shoes for my job and was on my feet a lot and would prefer surgery. I pointed out the fracture and a foreign object. He said he hadn't looked at the x rays and even if he did, it hadn't hurt long enough for surgery. And he was going on vacation for a month, and he was booked for four or five months anyway. Called my insurance to discuss my visit because I felt like he should have looked at my x rays before his conclusion and that how long something hurt was not relevant to the issues. They refunded my copay and told me I shouldn't have to pay, nor should they, for that level of service. Saw another specialist a couple days later who looked at my x rays, wanted two more which I did during the visit. He reviewed and asked me how soon I could do surgery. His office scheduled it for early December. May have been an off day for him...but was wondering what would happen if he had an off day during surgery.

Unlike so many Drs these days, Dr. Hiatt did NOT ask me to write a review. Which likely tells you…read moreall you need to know about him. Competent Drs don't need to ask! I was slightly worried to go to him given I had an issue and the only recommendation was from strangers online. I've been burned before but this time .... drumroll.... winner! Dr. Hiatt is thorough, careful, clearly knows his craft and is gentle to boot. He will answer all your questions (very unusual) and even laugh at your jokes while making a few of his own. My kind of Dr. !! If you need a competent podiatrist, Dr. Hiatt is my suggestion!

I've seen 3 podiatrists throughout my life. My 1st DPM was my doctor for over 15 years (off & on as…read moreneeded) and he was phenomenal and set the bar high. When I moved from Daly City to San Ramon and in the middle of really painful ankle issues, I could no longer trek from E. Bay to Peninsula. I was referred to my 2nd podiatrist who was dismissive and very nonchalant with my care. Enter Dr. Hiatt. I consulted him to see if my lingering ankle pain required surgery. Our meeting with him was very thorough with his exam; he welcomed & thoroughly answered any and all questions we had; and he has a kind and friendly demeanor and bedside manner. Ultimately i necessitated surgery. At surgery time he visited me beforehand to check in with me, then right before going in to surgery he took more time with me to calm me down. Post-surgery he took time to explain his discoveries to my husband and he was the first face I saw upon waking up from anesthesia. Always kind, always warm and caring. Thus far I've felt in good hands with Dr. Hiatt. I still miss my 1st DPM (Dr. Dobbs) but I'm very confident and at ease and happy with my new east bay DPM: Dr. Hiatt. If you need a podiatrist in the east bay, go to Dr. Hiatt. It's rare finding a doctor who genuinely cares, intelligent, and has great bedside manner and takes his time with patients, but Dr. Hiatt has is one of those rare finds. Now let's see how I recover after my surgery...
