Their products are reasonably priced maybe because this store doesn't get a lot of foot traffic (it's not in a main street), or because they're just cool people - either way, Meta is not huge but it has everything you need including fresh meats, veggies, fruit and fresh bread! The vegetables are fresh picked - you can smell the earth- and about 1/ 3 the price of central Florence. The place is busy. Lots of locals. Inside are local goods, meat, poultry, cheese, and fish. You can't get any fresher. Olive oils and many other DTLA acids inside. Outside there are clothing vendors, farmers, plant sellers, jewelry and antiques. There are fewer crowds here, probably because of its location, which makes it a prime spot for food tours. We didn't do one but we just wandered around ourselves. There are fewer options here than Mercato Centrale but the trade off is that you don't have to deal with all the people. They sell a lot of the same stuff - fresh produce, meats, and some vendors selling food. We tried the tripe sandwich here, which wasn't as good as the other market, but still delicious. We also bought some strawberries outside, which might have been some of the best strawberries I've ever eaten in my life, so definitely don't sleep on those. Mercato di Sant'Ambrogio is worth the trek!

It almost looks like it took place in a contest of how many or how much one can pack within a small store space; practically loaded to the ceiling with varying goodies and gifts. Their specialties, however, are in the line of fruits and wines, having the best any little shop in Florence has to offer. The lady who runs the place is really pleasant and helpful, guided me to some of their better local wines and made my shopping here a delightful experience.

Yvonne is the most charming hostess; knowledgeable, takes great pride in all her products and very warm and inviting. She offers tastings of her fine olive oils and aged balsamic vinegars as well as the multitude of Conti confections. Not to mention the abundant compliment of wine to accompany any of those tastings. All this is offered in her one of a kind tasting room under the shop, in a stunningly decorated centuries old stone and tile space able to fit 20 or so people . A quick tour of the shop upstairs is a sight for sore eyes. From the colorful hand made serving and dining plates, to the wonderful selection of condiments, pastas and toppings, it is truly one my favourite, favourite places in Virenze!!
