Would give a zero rating if possible. I tried to post this message to your online complaints form but my character count exceeded the limit. My package was scheduled to deliver on April 2, 2019. Delivery was attempted at my home on April 2, 2019 in the afternoon. When I realized through the tracking that delivery was attempted, I contacted customer service to see how many times deliver would be attempted before the package was sent back to the shipper. The reason I ask this is because I am going out of town and need to pick up the package by April 4, before I leave. I tell this to your agent. The agent tells me that I have the option to redirect the package to a convenient DHL pick up point and guaranteed that it would be there the following day. The agent was very helpful, helped me select a location that was close to my office, signed me up for tracking notifications via text messages and even gave me a delivery window of between 1pm and 4pm the following day. That evening, when I went to check the status of the package on the tracking link, the shipping destination still showed my home address as the delivery city and the shipment showed as "on hold". Thinking that I would be proactive, I called your customer service again and explained my situation about how I need to have my package by April 4. This time, a different agent confirmed that the package would be there the following morning (i.e. April 3). They told me to not be concerned, that the delivery city would be updated first thing the following morning and that my package would be at the DHL pick up point the following day. They advised me to continue checking the tracking link and that I would receive a text notification when my package was ready for pick up. So the following morning comes and again, the delivery city does not change but I can see that the package is with the delivery courier so I figure that it is on its way to the DHL pick up point. I get a text message in the afternoon advising me that delivery was attempted for the second time to my home address and not to the DHL pick up point as promised on two separate occasions by two DHL agents. I'm confused so I call your customer service again. Again I reiterate the importance of having the package by April 4 because I will be out of town and again I am advised by the agent that they do not know what happened, it may be that the notice to redirect the package was missed by the driver in the morning since the request for changing the delivery address occurred less than 24 hours from when the driver left the depot in the morning. I am frustrated and the agent on the phone apologizes and guarantees that the package will be delivered and available for pick up the following afternoon (April 4). I am skeptical based the history of interactions that I have had with DHL for this particular package. I ask the agent to confirm again and she assures me that she has spoken with her team leader and has put in a special request to ensure the package will be delivered and available at the pick up point the following day. This morning, I notice that there has been activity on my package and that the shipment is "on hold" again. It did not pick up by the driver as promised on three separate occasions by your customer service and it is still on hold at your shipping depot. I am extremely frustrated as today is the last day for me to pick up my package before I leave town. I call your customer service at 11am, they apologize and say that they will call the depot to find out what went wrong. I tell your agent that at this point, I do not care what went wrong, all I want is for my package to be delivered and available for pick up today. They indicate that they will call me back in a half hour and will see what they can do after calling the shipping depot. An hour passes and no one calls back. I call your customer service again to get an update. They tell me that there is nothing they can do until they hear back from the shipping depot and that there is a possibility that the package could still be delivered today and they will call me as soon as they hear back. It is now 2pm in the afternoon and no one has called me back, the shipping depot is in another city in all likelihood, my package will not be delivered by the end of the day. I am extremely disappointed with the service provided by DHL and it seems to me that your customer service's main priority is to tell the customer what they want to hear without any accountability for what they are promising. As a business owner myself, I understand that there can sometimes be challenges that are beyond our control, but this is ridiculous. After this experience with DHL, I will continue to ensure that all my business deliveries are made through FedEx and Canada Post. I will not recommend DHL to any of my business associates nor will I make any online orders with any organizations that ship via DHL. read more

I live with my 3 kids and my husband. Not even a knock on the door then leave, I live in an apartment building. A bunch of fools and/or crooks work for this company. I called DHL, gave them my home address and particulars and they assured me that the order WOULD be delivered using DHL Canada. I placed my order. A few days later I received a call from Loomis who partners with DHL and was told sorry, we don't deliver to your location. I contacted DHL and advised them. They assigned a specialist to deal with the situation. I was contacted by a DHL rep and was assured they will rectify the situation. Had the same conversation at 830am as I had at 3pm and still nothing has changed. My item has been in my city for eleven days and they seem incapable of finding me. In frustration, I asked them to drop it at the nearest outlet so I could find them instead. My package was going back and forth in the USA which i was very patient and understanding . Finally clearance was all complete then delivery was hell . Only tried to deliver once, used app to rearrange delivery, took day off work, when I called they had no intention of delivering that day. Then told me signed for by someone I did not know. Took 8 days of badgering them to for them to find that this person worked for DHL!. In the mean time sent parcels back to UK. Told there was nothing they could do and that I should pick packages up form London (UK) as they could not locate them. When I told them I lived in Canada they washed their hands of the situation. DHL is probably the WORST company when it comes to customer service, delivery and solving problems. when i found out that i was receiving my package by them i specifically advised them that i work and will not be home during delivery hours and to leave the package at my door because nobody will be home to sign for it.. the day of delivery comes and i receive a text message saying that an attempt was made to deliver my package but nobody was home so i have to make arrangements to pick it up at the closest facility. keep in mind i had advised them i wouldn't be home and to leave the package but they didn't listen. called customer service someone who barley spoke english answered the phone and was giving me such dry text book responses and told me to pick up my package the next day in store. i arranged online for in store pick up before i go to work, i go to pick up my package and am told my package isn't there it's out for delivery ... as pissed as i am i then receive a call from a driver telling me that my postal code is now wrong and my address doesn't exist ... then i'm told "not sure when you'll get your package but ok" this is the worst service ever , they don't respect time, make up rules as they go and don't give a shit about helping customers receive their packages . never again will i waste my time ordering something that works with DHL it's the worst delivery service in canada hands down and if you made it through this review please save yourself the trouble and DONT DO IT!!! read more

I use DHL when it's the only option for my online shopping but they always have custom fees when other companies don't. They never deliver on the first day, they just leave a note that says they tried but no one was home, when we were home all day and didn't hear anything.. One star is far too kind. I am not one to ever write reviews but this experience has been hell on earth for me... I ordered two dresses from asos.com I ordered the one regular shipping and the other express because I needed it for a christmas party. I received a notice that I owed duties and taxes on my expressed ship package, I paid 30 some dollars in duties and taxes, now ontop of the 15 dollar express shipping, I then entered in the settings that it was okay for the package to be left at the front door of my building, seeing how the buzzer system in my building no longer works. The next day I waited at home for my package to arrive, every hour I ran downstairs to see if it had come, The deliver driver came, wrote up a notice and stuck it on the glass pane... 3 minutes later I came downstairs to discover a delivery failed attempt card and no package. I called customer service and I spoke a very rude Indian woman, she assured me that the driver would have left it if i put in the settings online, either way I shrugged it off and clarified with her that my package was to be left at the front doors. The next day , anxious this would happen again, I waited downstairs around the same time the delivery had previously been made, for two hours.... I finally ran upstairs to grab some water, 5 minutes later on my return, the delivery attempted had again failed, he left a SECOND notice. I called DHL this time very angry and asked to speak to a manager, instead she put me on hold refusing to connect me to someone higher up, she told me that it takes 48 hours for the permission to leave it where requested to take hold... I notified her that even if that was the case well over 48 hours i submitted the request on the website, I also asked why i was not notified of this the day before when I spoke to the other customer service agent. After being on hold for another 5 minutes she tells me that the driver will redeliver it and leave it where requested by 8pm that night ( Friday) and that the supervisor would call me to ensure I got my package, I never received my phone call or package. I had to wait all weekend to call and ask about the whereabouts of my item. They just notified me that it is being held in Dartmouth ( 30 minutes away from where I live, and I do not drive...)if I want it I have to go get it there, no refund on my duties taxes or express fees. The cherries on top? The DHL number is a united states number, My phone bill has an extra whopping 45 dollars of long distance fees now on it, I also just retrieved my regular post dress, ordered at the same time as express, free of delivery fees and duties. I spent an extra 95 dollars on a dress worth 50 dollars, that I still currently do not have in my possession. Never use DHL, ever. read more

Never in my life have I had a more stressful and ridiculous time trying to get a package to me after Italy send me a warranty battery, which I was then billed brokerage and duty and HST for and after it sitting in Mississauga for 3 weeks still have yet to receive it, despite sending the paperwork back 3 times! If I can help it, I will never use DHL again. I ordered clothes from an international company. This package was not delivered due to extra duties and taxes, which is understandable. I called DHL and spoke with Omeshia, the representative. She informed me that my package was being held at their facility until I pay and either pick up my package or schedule another delivery. This was my first time ordering online from an international company and was not aware of the possibility of extra taxes. The taxes were about half of the value of my package so she suggested I call the clothing company and ask if these taxes were included in my shipping and handling fees. So that is what I did. I found out that these duties and taxes are different per country and it is my responsibility to pay. I called back DHL to follow up and pay the duties, however, the representative, Laura, notified me that my package was in the process of returning to the sender. Pardon me? Why wasn't I notified? Laura apologized for the miscommunication and made a note to request the package to be sent back to me with no additional duties and taxes (on top of the original of course). She said that she would keep me updated regarding the situation moving forward. I then proceed to check my e-mail and find out that my package was received by the sender. They will give me a refund for my package minus the cost of shipping and handling. So not only does DHL have an internal and external miscommunication problem, but they also fail to stay true to their word to their customers. DO NOT USE DHL. Please save your money and use another carrier. Why should consumers pay extra in insurance to protect themselves against carrier incompetence? If a shipping company can't deliver on its promise, it shouldn't be in business. End of story. That's like saying, "trust us with your package, but we're going to screw-up, so rather than us having insurance to cover you for our screw-ups, how about you pay us extra, ahead of time, for the screw-up. Then good luck getting back the value of what we destroyed or lost... you better be able to prove it was our fault..." Before I tried to ship medications to another country, which were URGENT, so I called the customer service number to get all the documents I would need ready to go. I asked if they could deliver time-sensitive, temperature sensitive and rather expensive medications ($3,200) overnight. They said "Yes". I dropped it off, with everything in order, but it got stuck in "Customs" in their warehouse in Toronto for 3 days. They couldn't be bothered to call to clarify the information. I demanded to get the medications back, so they wouldn't spoil, but rather than shipping to the store where I had shipped from, they delivered to my home and I wasn't home, so the medications sat another 3 days in their warehouse without refrigeration and they spoiled. This isn't a service "GAP", it's a service "CANYON". I'll never use them again in the future. Now I have to fight them to get my money back for the shipping costs, and they said because I didn't have insurance, they wouldn't cover the medications. Don't ever trust what they tell you. I was out of town last week when DHL attempted to deliver an important letter from a lawyer that I didn't know was coming. Found a notice from dhl blowing in the wind outside my house - apparently the courier didn't see a reason to put it through the letter slot in my door. Called dhl first thing the next morning, and they said it was just on its way back to the sender that very morning - after keeping it only 3 days. I spoke with customer service who said the policy to keep packages was 5 business days and she didn't know why, but it was sent back sooner. She offered an apology, but said she couldn't retrieve it as it was "with the courier" on its way back to the sender. Horrible horrible horrible experience. It all started in the beggining of my shipping process. Dhl send me a notification asking me to change my shipping address as they don't deliver to post offices so I call dhl to ask about this and the lady on the line told me not to worry and that they would hand my packege of (plants) over to canada post and they would deliver. So a few days go by and the packege arrives in canada well now I get a call from dhl telling me I need to change my adress because the packege will not be handed over to canada post! So now I change it to my nearest (hour away from me) pick up point and it will take two days to process this request.. So I change it to the loomis closest to me. The day it was scheduled to be delivered to loomis I headed the hour drive only to get a notification that loomis was closed (opens at 12 pm) and my packege would be sent back to the dhl facility!! Omg! So now I'm mad and I call to try and figure it out as my plants will be dead if they're in box to long. So I call and the guy I talk with says we will change my address AGAIN to the shop my husband works at BUT not know did he change my address once but changed it THREE TIMES! WHY?! So now it is almost 2 days later and I have still not received my packege because apparently when he decided to change my address 3 time to the SAME address he was changing it to everytime it makes it so that dhl takes longer to prosses my adress. So now I wait hoping to receive them today. I am so angry. I don't feel like this mix up was my fault and feel like dhl should refund me because this has been complete bullsh*t on their part. I absolutely hate DHL, this was my very first time "attempting" to receive a package from them and to this day I still don't have it. So I requested the order to go to Aero drive and I got a confirmation text that it was there, but for some reason got a phone call that it was downtown. I was so confused so called customer support and they confirmed it was downtown, I live far from downtown so requested it to go back to aero drive like I originally asked for. The next day I get a text confirming it is at aero drive and to be sure I call in to confirm and the lady confirmed for me that it was at aerodrive because the customer service ticket I had opened to transfer it the day before had been closed. I drive 30 mins to aerodrive and they told me it's not there *facepalm and they help me call downtown dhl who confirmed it was there. Fine. So the following week I call customer service to confirm it's still downtown, they confirm. So I take the train downtown and they told me it's not there *facepalm. They called aerodrive who confirmed it was there LOL What a joke. And to top it off I still don't have my package. If you want to experience this fun game I suggest using DHL! read more

My package (express) took around 3 days to arrive from California to Surrey BC. And from the Truck (driver) to a pick point that I choose almost one week. When they tried to deliver the package, they didn't even left a notice; I had to go to the website to find out what was going on. So at the web page again I choose to next deliver on a Wednesday, because by phone I told them I would pick it up at Vancouver on Friday; and they didn't released it for pick up that weekend. They didn't call or contact me in any way. I had to go to the website, because they didn't care about the choice I made at the website for delivery. At the end I pick it up Thursday, box damaged, I only hope the product is ok. I will know when the mechanic install the piece. They don't seem to care about your package at all. If you are interested you have to pick it up in Burnaby, Richmond or Vancouver. They don't have accessible pick points. Be aware, don't waste time or money. DHL has the worst system. My husband ordered something from the States which was sent by DHL. On the day of delivery, my husband had to step out for a few minutes, and changed the delivery to "no signature required". Within a few minutes, before he even left the house, he received a status update saying it was delivered. Strangely, the doorbell never rang, nor did our two dogs bark (and they always bark if anyone comes up the driveway). Even stranger, there were NO tracks in the freshly fallen snow. No tire tracks in the driveway, no footprints on the path. And, of course, no package. As it did not require a signature, it was not their problem! After several days of phone calls, with DHL insisting that the driver's GPS shows he delivered it, and us trying to convince them otherwise (we had pictures of the pristine snow), we gave up and re-ordered the item, with "signature required" on delivery. It was left at the front door today. The driver did not ring the bell or knock on the door (dogs were outside at the time). However, he did get recorded on the webcam today. How can they say it's not their fault when a package goes missing when there is no signature required, but not even attempt to obtain a signature when it IS required? read more

I am rating one star a there is nothing lower. DO NOT EVER USE DHL....TRUST ME. Needed to get a credit card express sent to Kiev. I left on the 26th of march and from the airport called to have the credit card shipped out the same day. Expected to have the credit card the day after arrival in Kiev. (Note paid 160 cad). I arrived back home in Canada after 7 (SEVEN) days and then got a notice of failed delivery on the address in Kiev!!!!! We are talking about DHL Express....hehe DHL, you are an absolute joke. DHL is a logistics company incapable of properly carrying out their only job. For years I have been importing items from all over the world. I am constantly up to date on imports and duties, and what falls under each category. To date there are only 4 times I have imported items that have had SURPRISE import duties. If you guessed DHL, you would be correct. Either this company is incompetent, or this is a scam they are running. My most recent was the company (DHL) moved my item from China to a US port. Re-labelled it, moved it to another US city and then crossed it into Canada. The item now resembles a made in China item entering Canada from the US. Do you know what that means? If you guessed import fees and duties, you would be correct. It is a qonder this company has survived as long as it has. It's ok though. Moving forward I will splurge and pay the extra $7 to use FedEx instead. At least they know how to ship items. read more

Deserves ZERO stars out of five. Someone in Vienna sent me what turned out to be a surprise Christmas gift. The point of origin was stated as the United Nations Office at Vienna. When it reached my doorstep, the DHL courier started immediately by trying to collect $16.80 in customs charges from me. I hadn't ordered anything from Austria, much less from the UN Office at Vienna (they sell the whole range of UN publications) and the whole thing seemed dubious. The DHL courier wouldn't allow me to read any of the accompanying paperwork. He insisted I pay the $16.80 first. So I declined to accept the delivery. Some hours later, I received an e-mail from a friend in Vienna saying he'd tried to send me something as a Christmas present, and he'd received a notice from DHL that I'd rejected the delivery. Learning that this item was in fact a gift from a friend, I got in touch with DHL asking them to hold the item, and I went to pick it up at their office (which, here in Victoria, is handled by a subcontractor). Gifts of up to $40.00 can enter Canada duty-free, but I nevertheless paid the $16.80 DHL demanded. The local office even tried to throw away the customer copy of the invoice, and I had to make a specific request that they hand it to me. And in that paperwork I discovered that the duty collected by Canada Customs on this item was ZERO ($0.00). And the GST/PST sales taxes collected on this item were ZERO ($0.00). All the "customs charges" DHL was demanding of me consisted of a DHL "processing fee" of $11.00 and a DHL "transaction fee" of $5.00 (plus GST/PST sales taxes on the DHL fees in the amount of eighty cents). SO DHL ADDS ITS OWN EXTRA CHARGES, EVEN IN THE ABSENCE OF ANY APPLICABLE CUSTOMS DUTIES OR SALES TAXES. Major courier services like Canada Post and FedEx do not levy charges of this sort. No question about it, DHL should be avoided. read more

DHL is quite possibly the worst company I have ever had the displeasure of being forced to deal with. I ordered a book on ebay and the seller, who lived overseas chose to send it via DHL. I got a message from them requesting customs payment via their online service. It would not accept either of the debit or credit cards I gave them. I called my bank and they confirmed there was nothing wrong with my cards and that DHL was to blame. After navigating their horrible telephone number I finally got in touch with a human being. They said I could pay in person at a shipment center later that week. I called a few days later to confirm, and a new customer service person informed me the package had not moved an inch towards the center since I last called despite what I was promised. It quickly became clear that unless I called and confirmed every single step, nothing would get accomplished. I called again on the day it was supposed to arrive at the center and was told it had not yet arrived, but that there was a closer center I could pay and receive it. Keeping in mind I had to explain to every single customer service person I spoke to that their website wouldn't take any payment I gave, I asked them to send it to the closer facility. a few days later I called again to confirm, only for this forth costumer service person to tell me there was no way to pay at this location. By this point I was already fuming, and angrily told them to send it to the location were I could pay. several days later on the day it was supposed to arrive at the center, I called and was told it would take up to FORTY-EIGHT HOURS to bring from the inner warehouse to the front desk. Now, a delivery company telling you It needed 48 hours to find a package in their own warehouse, is akin to a dentist telling you it will take 3 days to find a tooth in your mouth, but I accepted and waited the two days. on the day in question I began receiving text notifications from a customer representative, alerting me that they were following up on the package and would tell me when it was at the front desk, which seemed like a hopeful sign. However, no following text arrived. When I got home, I called and was told by a sixth customer service representative, to my complete disbelief, that the package had been sent to the closer center I could not pay at instead of the one where I could. At this point I was ready to murder someone, so in a state of blind rage I tried a relative's credit card to pay online as they clearly wanted me to, one last time, in hopes that my previous attempts were mere flukes. To little surprise It refused the card. At the end of my rope, I called them and told a Seventh customer service person that I was refusing shipment, to send the package back and to refund the sender, and I sent a request to the sender to have my order refunded. Knowing this company, the package will no doubt be lost, destroyed, or simply sit in a warehouse forever before it ever reaches the sender. I can not stress the amount of flagrant incomitance on display. How this company functions on a day to day basis is beyond me. I urge any who need something shipped to stay as far away from DHL as humanly possible. read more

Ridiculous. Shipment has been dragged too long as the courier couldn't even find my location. 2nd attempt with a note to just leave the package in front of my house but refused the delivery again...3rd attempt to put a note again to leave the package as it doesnt need any signature and give a call... and refused.. -1/5 if you ask me. read more

After numerous calls..no one knowing where my package is..4 days later I had to go pick it up myself...no notices no phone calls..LOUSY SERVICE.. Next time if the item I want to buy needs to be shipped by DHL ..I will not buy it.. read more
