I flew in to San Diego from Texas, and crossed the border to Tijuana. My hair transplant happened on July 2019, and 6 months later, its looking great so far today! Let's backtrack a bit. I reached out to DHI over the phone for a consultation, and was greeted by Horacio with DHI Tijuana. He made me feel comfortable about the procedure from start to finish. Yes, he will ask medical questions, so be sure to be honest with these questions. I didn't feel rushed or judged at all with my answers. He cared about my success with the procedure, he took time to explain the procedure and what all it entails and made himself available to answer any questions. When you choose to move forward with the procedure, you are issued a quote for the procedure, with payment instructions. The procedure total was a fraction of what I would have paid in the US. When I booked, I did put down a deposit that will go towards your procedure total. The remainder is paid in person (Yes, they will take USD cash if you choose to, or you can pay with your Credit Card too). You get instructions prior to the procedure and I did have to get labwork done here in the US (at LabCorp) and sent over to the doctor at DHI. After the doctor reviewed it, all is clear, you are set. I flied into San Diego Int'l from Texas. I did not get their transportation service myself so I can't speak for that, I had my own arrangements, and stayed with my friend that lives in Tijuana. On the morning of, I took an Uber (Yes, there is Uber in Tijuana), to the DHI Office, which by the way, it is in the same modern commercial complex as the Cinemex Tijuana and the SRE in case you don't see it in Apple Maps. It is like 3 minutes from the border. The office was professional, modern, high quality and clean, just like any high quality doctor's office in the US. The team there spoke both English and Spanish and they were very caring. I had a breakfast and lunch menu and had quality choices to select. The doctor performing the procedure speaks both English and Spanish. The medical team was very professional, and caring every step of the way. The procedure for me it took around 7 hours, not including the lunch break. The procedure room was clean, and sterile. The staff followed proper healthcare and sterilization standards, just like in the US. When the procedure is finished, I was given post care instructions and a medication list for healing and recovery. The director came out to ensure I was treated well. I highly recommend for you to return the next day for the follow up and cleanup. I do recommend that you do stay in Tijuana for 2 days at least, for the day of the procedure and the day after, for the follow up, so plan accordingly. They schedule a follow up with you at the 2 week mark via Video Call. The only cons is that the results don't appear right away, but that's expected, since it obviously has to heal and the clinic does explain this to you. Give it time, and you will be satisfied. I did take time off from work for 7 days, including procedure day, to give it time to heal enough so that I can look presentable enough at work. Your timeline may be the same or may differ. Fast Forward 6 months, my transplanted hair looks great, you can tell they do quality work here. I highly recommend DHI. Sure, there are other clinics that do similar work in the area, and I called others too before deciding with DHI. Out of all the options, I went with DHI Tijuana, and have zero regrets. I was very scared to do a hair transplant, and had searched and made many consultations with various clinics in the United States and in Tijuana. However, DHI Mexico were the ones that made me feel the most comfortable, honest, and respectful during my consultation with Efren. I do want to say that even before I made it to Tijuana, the staff were very attentive and helped me out as it was my first time going to Tijuana. After that, I decided to go through with the procedure. I met with the the staff of DHI Mexico, and once again, I was impressed with Dr. Georgina Curiel (she did my procedure), she was honest and very knowledgeable about the procedure and was friendly, among many other qualities that definitely make her a great doctor. I had a two day procedure, and I appreciated how caring the staff was, and I also appreciated that most of the nurses introduced themselves and how they played a role. The procedure itself was uncomfortable but Dr. Curiel made sure I was as comfortable as possible and checked in on me often about the pain. Overall, my experience and time with the staff was impeccable. DHI Mexico is the place to go if you're interested about a transplant. I had my two-day procedure yesterday and the day before, so I can't speak to long term results yet. But my experience at DHI Mexico could not have been better. Nazareth took care of all of the logistics for me. She booked my driver, Mike, who was awesome and got us from San Diego to Tijuana and back without incident. Nazareth also booked the hotel, which was first class. She also handled my lunch both days. The food was spectacular. Any safety concerns I had about Tijuana were addressed by the fact that you never have to leave the building. DHI, the hotel, restaurant, and even a 7-11 are all in the same building. Efren, who had done my initial consult, was very attentive. He met me when I got there, checked in with me after extraction, checked in again after implantation, and walked me to the elevator on my way out. Dr. Georgina (who performed the procedure) and her assistants were awesome. They answered every question I had, and walked me through every step in the process. She showed me every tool and explained how they worked and let me watch as they separated the extracted folicals, which fascinated me for some reason. Well it's been a month since I did the operation and so far I'm more then happy. I was supposed to fly to turkey on the end of December and after do some research I found HDI in Tijuana, to be honest I was a bit sceptic about it, but I went deeper on the research I found that the technique and the technology are the same, i didn't choose DHI because of the price, I choose them because of the location, I leave in Los Angeles and it's just a few hours drive. When I arrived at the hotel witch is 30 second walking to the clinic, I was amazed by how nice and modern everything there. I did a two days procedure and all the stuff there was nothing but amazing!!!, everyone there are so nice and give the feeling that your in good hands It's about 5-6 hours every day, but the time fly. Now 30 days later I'm feeling like everything went just like what they told me, and planing on going back on April for PEP treatment I really what to thank luis that was with me before and after for all of my questions and DR. My decision to have my hair treatment done a DHI was one of the best decisions I have ever made. The treatment exceeded my expectations! I was very apprehensive about going to Mexico for treatment, because of the intimidation of being in a foreign country and my concern that the level of care and quality of the facility would be sup-par, but I was completely wrong! The facilities are very clean and the staff made sure that all my questions and concerns were answered. They even made arrangements for a hotel and pickup, for a very reasonable extra fee which included food and beverages. Basically, the only stress of the entire trip was just getting to and from the border, which wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. Their follow-up after the procedure was nothing short of amazing! They scheduled multiple follow up appointments that were done out the of the convenience of a video conference out of the comfort of my own home. These follow-ups were not rushed - but very thorough. I'm a year removed from my hair "restoration." I did not have a lot to restore since I've been on finasteride for almost 10 years & had a previous hair restoration in San Francisco. First, they were awful at responding to my initial messages. The quickest response I got was when I had to reschedule and Efren said, "Ok, no worries!" Post-procedure, they said they would have follow-ups at 3, 6, 9 & 12 months but it was like pulling teeth to get Dr. Gina back on to speak with me. "Very sorry, she's very busy" was always their excuse. Efren also recommended the max procedure which is up to 4,000 grafts. I agreed even though I felt I was never going to need that much. Sure enough, they only did 1,600 grafts. 4 months post-procedure, I began seeing results. Not a lot, but I saw some growth. They say to wait a year before you see full results. Well, there was no growth after 4 months. I get to look at the same thin hair I had a year ago, and once again, there wasn't a whole lot they needed to fill. Everything about my procedure at DHI-TJ was professional. I arrived from out of town the day before surgery. The SD airport to TJ-Hotel de Pueblo Amigo shuttle service over and back the border was safe and comfortable. The driver, Angel was very courteous and punctual. Surgery day begins early. My driver, Elena, was punctual and friendly. The pre-op was 1 on 1 with plenty of time to ask questions. Doctor Gina and her capable, professional crew were very accomodating and comforting. The surgery room was sterile and professional. Before lunch was the donor extraction. Not too uncomfortable, as I just laid in the prone position for a few hours. A light lunch, and on to implantation. Dra Gina is very skilled and careful to achieve the best results possible. I felt her and her team were very professional and did their best to make me comfortable during the long implantation procedure. I listened to some Jose Alfredo Jimenez, and then watched a movie on Netflix. After the procedure, I was shuttled back to the hotel. I started loosing hair in my twenties, as of March of this year (I am in my mid forties) I had very little hair left on the top and crown of my head. I live in San Diego CA but I go to DHI Tijuana for my PRP hair treatment. Price wise is way cheaper in comparison to the US. The quality of treatment is very good. They also do hair restoration/transplant. I started my platelets rich plasma (PRP) treatment at DHI Tijuana with Dra. Gina in December 2018. She's awesome! It's been 3 months now since my first treatment and I could see a dramatic result. My hair is thinning in the crown area. I need to complete the 6 months PRP sessions to get the best result. I got by first hair transplant done in the USA using he FUT technique (not recommended) not the results or amount of hair I was looking for and too expensive. Years later I started to search the different places in the world and techniques, there's a lot of places and good prices BUT be careful because there's a lot of "technicians" practicing this procedures and not actual certified doctors. I chose DHI GLOBAL in Mexico for different reasons; the DHI implant technique, the manual micro FUE follicular extraction, that way the extraction is done carefully and not done with an electrical machine or a robot and because is closer to the USA. My trip was set up with DHI with no issues even my local bank recognized their banks both in the USA and in Mexico. My pickup and transfer from the San Diego airport were great the staff and the hotel were awesome, and DR. Georgina did not disappoint she's truly the best. If I could give more than 5 stars I would. The full staff was so helpful and professional. They went out of their way to not only make sure I was comfortable but also fully accommodated my wife who came with me from the US. I am now 10 days after the procedure and can't get over how great the outcome looks so far. The hairline they created looks completely natural. The process ended up taking 2 days and I did not have enough donor hair to do the initial 4000 that we discussed. They quickly adjusted and kept me informed of the progress. They were honest and what I loved was they over communicated. I was hesitant at first to do the procedure outside the US but that quickly dissipated when I visited the clean sterile environment and location close to the San Diego border. One of the best decisions i have taken in my life. I started loosing hair when I was 20 yrs old. Last year(i was 27) i finally decided that my situation wasnt getting better but instead worse.
