5 star for this place awesome taste and location definitely recommend for anyone visiting Portland

    a menu on the counter

Got the lamb vindaloo to go. Contrary to the other reviewers, I was pretty underwhelmed. There was a good amount of food for the price but the vindaloo, albeit flavorful, was watery; the jasmine rice was bland and tasteless. Maybe their tikka masala is better, but I've had better Indian food, even from a food truck.

    Garlic naan.

I had two different dishes, and they were both incredibly bland. There's much better Indian food to be found in Portland.

The chicken is cooked in it, and was cooked beautifully. This is a very different experience than almost any other Indian restaurant that mixes spices and chicken cooked separately into already cooked rice. Apna Chaat Bhavan is my usual stop for Biryani, but this is on another level, I haven't found any other local restaurants that come close (Bombay Cricket Club had great biryani back in the day too). It's not Hyderabad Dum style, it is a Punjabi regional style as I understand. The palak paneer was clearly made with fresh spinach, it had an excellent intense fresh spinach flavor, a big difference from the mild bland stuff most restaurants serve. The paneer was also fantastic, with a great flavor and texture - not the softer/more bland style often served. Haveli serves proper homemade food with good fresh ingredients, big portions, very nicely balanced flavors. I'm so happy this opened because I love good Indian food, and this is by a long shot my new favorite spot in the Portland area.

There's…read moredefinitely a part of me that misses pre-pandemic era when lunch buffets were common place and this place is only a few blocks from my office. I got there a little after 11:30. The sign said the buffet started at 11:30 but they weren't ready, so I had to wait a little bit. Not a big deal, especially when a place is trying something new. It gave me an opportunity to check out the space. Like a lot of Indian restaurants, it's a little over the top, with the decor pushing towards opulent but not in an overly stuffy way. The buffet was setup along the bar top, and it was clear they were still figuring it out. Instead of chafing dishes and sternos, they were using electric warming trays and setting out the cookware on top of them. Price wise, it's $20, which feels like the going rate these days (i.e. it's the same as Namaste). That being said, the smaller setup and the individually cooked items meant a way higher quality of food. There was a chicken curry, mushroom magic, a daal, chicken tikka, gulab jamun and a handful of other items including a fusion quesadilla with chicken and pieces of fried paneer. The curry was fine, nothing special. The daal (I think tadka?) was a little thinner than I prefer and a slightly over-seasoned, but was good even with the over seasoning. The mushroom magic was good, but the real spotlight was the chicken tikka. With everything being prepared in smaller batches than the stereotypical buffet, this was the moistest chicken tikka I ever had, and the texture and flavor far exceeded anything I would expect from a buffet. They did bring out fresh naan, but that felt like something they were doing since it was still new/slow, i.e. they had naan on the buffet line too. The only thing I would have liked would have beeen some achar, but I'm sure that puts me in a very small slice of potential customers. Definitely see myself coming back here, and ideally dragging along some of my coworkers. tl;dr; smaller buffet with incredible quality due

I would consider coming back to dine in with friends. The sliders were so good! My coworkers were not impressed by the looks due to the simple looking buns and American cheese but I can vouch that the taste was 5 stars. Check them out!

The waiter was very nice and brought us cold water and utensils. I ordered a beer and my friend ordered a chai. He ordered the korma, and I ordered the Afghani Reshmi. His korma came out much quicker than mine, but that was okay. We also ordered garlic naan and roti. The garlic naan and the roti are truly amazing. They were tender and soft and had a great flavor. His korma was pretty good too! He says it's some of the best he can get locally. The star of the attraction was the Afghani Reshmi. I have never had this dish before or had even heard of it, but it was amazing! Flavorful and juicy chicken, onions and chilies....it was amazing. The only negative that I experienced at all was the music was incredibly loud at some points and at other times very quiet. Which wouldn't have been odd, but when I say loud, I mean you had to talk louder to the person across the table to hear them. I didn't ding the rating tho, because I imagine that was a fluke. Plus the food was really good. They did say their menu is in flux right now, so some of the things on it are changing... But overall I highly recommend this place.

We didn't know what to expect with so little reviews at this place, but decided to give it a shot since all 9 reviews were 5 stars. We had the fish pakora, samosas, chicken vindaloo, and Chana masala. The food was amazing!!!!! He was so happy. The only one piece of feedback that I have for this place is that the chana masala could use some more flavor maybe more tomato sauce. All other items were amazing 10 out of 10. Beyond that the service was excellent. The man working at the front of the house was very nice to us. He switched out one item that I misunderstood at no cost. He also gave my brother a free birthday dessert The vibe of the whole place was very cute as well. Upstairs, there were games and a small café that we could sit at while we waited. We ended up working on a puzzle which was a good way to pass some time. We will definitely be back, especially since my brother is moving to Portland.
