I work downtown and I'm so glad this place is there! It's just a couple blocks from Fayetteville and is really convenient for getting snacks, a cold drink, greeting cards, some homewares, and even medicine. No need to go to the cramped CVS pharmacy on Fayetteville for basic medicine needs. In the drink area they have all the favorites -- sodas, teas, juice, energy drinks, and even beer and wine. The only thing they DON'T have that I wish they did is UNsweetened seltzer -- they only have a sweetened kind that I really don't like. For food they have a small frozen section with frozen food and ice cream, then a snack section, a Krispie Kreme booth, and even some things to take home to cook (soup, mac n cheese, etc). In terms of medicine, they have pretty much anything standard you'd need. It's not a pharmacy but there's meds for allergies, cold/flu, pain, and more. read more

This place is mere blocks from a local museum and after wandering all over town and going to another pharmacy only to find they close at 2 on Saturday (What??!!). I was desperate to find diapers we forgot (HE forgot to pack... right?). I was directed here by a local market. It was a godsend. They had exactly what I needed at a price that was higher than I would pay if I had planned, but not so high that it was criminal in my desperation. There was quite a line.... probably since it's the only place open and people need stuff on Sat afternoon.... but it moved quickly. read more

OMG I'm so happy about this store opening! My fellow downtowners know the struggle of not having a clean, reasonably priced store downtown without scary loiterers outside of it. Well, now we have one! I stopped in for the first time today and they literally have everything except groceries. They could charge a premium because they're downtown but nope! They charge normal DG prices and they have; batteries $1, chips 50 cents, greeting cards $1, toiletries, medicine, birthday balloons, phone chargers $5, etc. Pretty much every random item you could possibly need! They also have typical convenience store stuff like a Gevalia coffee machine, Icee machine, and soda fountain. Store was crowded and the line was very long this afternoon so I anticipate even longer lines at peak times but it's great to have a place to buy odds and ends throughout the day without driving! read more

Okay Raleigh hipsters stop rolling your eyes. DGX may not be local but it's clean, convenient and has everything someone living downtown needs at affordable prices! DGX is a smaller, urban version of the Dollar General stores you find in more rural areas. DGX has pretty much everything Dollar General has, including a small grocery area, home section and electronics / DVDs. Prices are almost identical to Walmart or Target prices- I was VERY pleased to see no downtown up charge! The environment has been quiet and I always feel safe popping in for something. The cashiers are all very nice and efficient! The lines can get a little long since they only have two tills, but the lines move decently. While we will son have some great new local grocers downtown (Raleighwood Provisions and Oak City House of Fresh are opening on the same block in the coming days / weeks) I am still VERY happy that DGX chose downtown Raleigh for one of their flagship stores. I find myself popping in every few days for small items, the connivence is really unparalleled right now! read more

As a downtown resident this place has been an absolute blessing. From basic toiletries to the cheap snack for movie night I couldn't ask for more. Thanks for not trying to be trendy with designer soap and local cheese. read more

Sign says open from 7am-11pm but at 10:45 door was locked and we were told they were closed

Man, this store is the best. At first I thought it was going to be a janky store (sorry for prejudging) just because it's a DGX. I live in downtown so I constantly need something but never want to drive all the way to a store to get it. This place is suiper convenient on the corner of Davie and Blount and has everything you need. Unless you're looking for something special like portabella mushrooms or organic coffee. Basic needs? Check, check, and check. Including Henry's Hard Grape beer and some decent wine. Body wash? Yes. The good drugstore stuff, too if you want it. Razors, bread, butter, milk, ice cream, packing tape, seasonal stuff, candy corn. All of the above. All available in brand names you're familiar with. As well as the discounted stuff when you are short on cash. The store is very clean and well maintained and everything has always been in stock that I've ever needed. The layout is great. The registers are easily accessible. The cashiers can be a little less than friendly, but it's cool. read more
