I dont know what DFS stands for but in my world it stands for Dodgy Flipping Sofas (thats the polite version) We bought our leather suit 2 years ago and 1 year in, not only had the foam in part of the sofa collapsed, but we had a major problem with it. The care instructions stated to clean it we would have to wipe it with a damp cloth which we did but found that the dye from the sofa was starting to come off, resulting in an embarrisingly patchy sofa. I phoned dfs who told me there was nothing they could do as the sofa was out of its 1 year warranty. I felt cheated that we spent fiftteen hundred pounds on a sofa and was convinced we had some sort of consumer rights. I was right. After phoning citizens advice I was told that their warranty was not worth the paper it was written on and that, as consumers paying that much money for the sofa out right were that we would reasonably expect it to last for at least 10 years, after quoting this to DFS they finally sent someone over to have a look at it. We had it resprayed twice and the colour STILL came out. They even had the nerve to accuse us of spraying it with chemicals, I explained that I avoid using any chemical cleaners as I have young children and the only chemicals my kids were probably consuming were the chemicals in the dye that was coming off the fifteen hundred pound sofa THEY sold us!!!
Eventually a manager came round to look at it and even he tried to wriggle out of his responsibility, but I was insistant that I would take the matter further if he did not replace, fix or refund us. Eventually they reupholstered the entire suit and replaced a small amount of the foam that had collapsed, but not all of it.
Another year has passed and we cannot sit on the part of the sofa that the man did not want to replace, (did I mention it cost us fifteen hundred pounds?) otherwise we are riddled with back pain, so we have half a sofa that we can use. When Im feeling brave enough I may challange DFS yet again, but for now Im a mother of two children under 3 so feel like another battle might be a little to much for me.
Yes they partly fixed the sofa, but they get a negative review from me, A,for taking so long and B, for not admitting their responsibilitys and trying to wriggle out of fixing their mistakes, and thats bad customer service, very bad. read more
