Watch your transactions very carefully for teller errors at this location. This branch is poorly managed and has awful customer service.

Do not do business with this branch! All the tellers are very nice and helpful. However, the manager Frank C was on a power trip and despite my having the funds in my account I was assessed a $32 insufficient funds fee. I explained that I had also just deposited $300 cash into my account, but he refused to do a curtesy reversal. I see lots of other credit unions here on Yelp with much better reviews than this branch of DFCU and so because of this rude branch manager I will be closing both my personal and business accounts. read more

Find a different branch. The manager is on a power trip. I was just there trying to DEPOSIT ( not cash) our tax refund check and was denied because my husband's signature didn't match the one on his id. Whose signature is EVER the exact same? Absolutely ridiculous. My husband actually had to leave work and go the the branch in order for them to DEPOSIT the check into my checking account. I am very disappointed because up to this point I've had positive experiences with the institution as a whole. read more

Great customer service. Never had an issue. Sometimes the wait is long depending on time or day you go but that's typical of banks. These tellers work hard and are professional. I recommend using this business. Credit unions are community based and don't have the "feel" of big national chain banks. High marks! read more

Horrible customer service! Tried to help one of their customers and after 8minutes on hold the customer service representative yelled at me over the phone that they won't verify if a check cleared for their own customer and hung up on me! Why would anyone bank here?!?!? read more

One of the most frustrating credit union experiences I've had. Went in with my boyfriend for what we thought would be a quick, simple request. There's a main greeter desk in the center of the lobby, where a banker was helping a young couple. We explained our situation (not knowing if we'd need to sit down with a banker or could see a teller) and were quickly dismissed and told to sign in. We waited for 40 minutes as the banker opened a new account for the young couple - set up PIN numbers, ordered checks, filled out paperwork - all in a very public common area where other people waited in line for tellers. For 40 minutes (that was the amount of time we had to observe this - who knows how long this was going on before we arrived) this couple stood (no chairs available) at this kiosk - and were visibly uncomfortable from standing during their long appointment. There was one person ahead of us in line, but we were never addressed, or told that the wait might be long. Finally, another banker emerged from the back, called our name and guess what? No need to wait! He literally figured out what we needed in less than a minute. What's more disappointing is that when I explained that we had just waited for such a long time, and that I wished the greeter would have a) alerted us to the possible long wait and/or b) just quickly addressed our situation (remember? LESS THAN A MINUTE to fix it) - the banker got defensive. I asked if it was DFCU policy to conduct personal banking business in common open spaces and he said that Yes - it certainly was. As it turns out, I'm interested in opening a new joint checking account, but it definitely will not be with DFCU. I like to keep my banking information private. And I like for the people there to have some sort of customer service policy. In this competitive banking climate, DFCU Madison Heights falls painfully short. read more

I cannot believe the bad reviews I have read about the DFCU branch on E. 14 Mile Rd. in Madison Heights, Michigan. I have never had one bad experience in all the years I have been associated with them. Everyone has always been so helpful and courteous. Their Manager, Ms. Heard, has always been so nice and willing to go the extra mile to answer any questions or concerns that I had. She is very professional and organized. I think these poor reviews must have experienced these problems at another branch, not Madison Heights! read more

After my last review I thought," let's give them one more chance." So, I called and explained that my name was listed incorrectly on my account and asked them to adjust it. Two weeks later I received my new info... And now my name is misspelled. Strike three. I liken this to the restroom theory of restaurants. If the restroom is dirty don't eat there. Because if they can't take care of the simple details, you can bet the important ones will be half assed as well. I should charge them for wasting my time. read more

I've read the poor reviews on this branch but haven't experienced any of them. To the contrary, the tellers are nice and the branch manager, Kimicia Heard, is professional, informative, pleasant and poised. I needed some questions answered and had to meet with member services. The branch manager answered all my questions and did it with a smile on her face. Customer service 5-stars. read more

This branch, this financial institution is awesome! Where else can you go that pays you CASH Back Rewards! No where! I set up may account at this branch and have been using it every since. I have never had any problems and I'm a very busy person doing a lot with my monies. Moving it here, sending it there, you name it! Avoid this branch at all costs. I've experienced several less than positive encounters here and have actually had better luck when I drive the extra miles to the main location in Dearborn. Today took the cake.... Stopped in to cash a check at 4pm on a Friday leading into Labor Day weekend and guess how many tellers were open? ONE!!!! If I could give them 1 star I would. I have been through so much with this bank and it's only been 2 months! I went to buy a car 2 months ago and I didn't realize how shady the car dealership was. They sold me a car that had been in an accident and then lied to me about it. I had a 723 credit score when I bought my car and I had already been pre-approved for a loan through my bank( looking back now I should've stuck with them). The dealership told me they could beat the interest rate that my bank had me at. Ok fine, after 2 hours and running my credit 5+ times (which at the time I didn't know). They approved me through dfcu and I had a 3.25% interest rate. Now after getting everything together and making the purchase I thought we were good. Then a few days later I tried to give the car back because it was making strange noises and I had paid for my own car fax and found out the car was damaged. So the dealership would not take the car back and the bank couldn't do anything about it. I talked to 3 different people in a week to try and figure everything out. Then my first months payment was due and I was deciding weither to make the payment, sell the car, or sue someone. I hadn't even gotten my registration until a month later. Now I talked to the bank and told them I would make the first payment on Friday, August 10th. Well with almost every credit company or loan or payment I've ever had you have 30 days to make a payment before it goes to court or anything. Well on Monday we were taking my family dog of 16 years to the vet to be put down. Which My family lives 3 hours away. So when I got back into town I was headed straight to the bank to make my payment. And because I didn't pay it on that Friday they took my car and made me pay $1200 to get it back. So now the bank won't talk to me, help me and took legal action on me because I was late on my first months payment, but less than 30. Which is nonsense. So please all I can say it do your research and ask lots of questions before using any bank or dealership. read more

DFCU member for 23 years. Within the last year, after making a mobile deposit via their app, funds were made available to me just to then remove those funds several days later without notification. Both times it took more than two days to fix the problem once I noticed it and both times they told me it was a "computer glitch" and they told me I had no reason to be upset. Alerts had been set up on my account after the first time it happened, yet they didn't alert me the second time either. They told me over the phone that they would have sent a letter via mail, which does no one any good in this Internet age of instant charges and withdrawals. They actually sent me the letter to notify me of the returned check I deposited the day AFTER the issue was resolved. How does waiting until an issue is resolved before notifying the member of the issue constitute as notifying a member of a problem??? I wrote DFCU a letter explaining my stance on their issues, explaining I've been with them for 23 years since I was 16...they have NOT even bothered contacting me. So I'll be finding a new credit union and taking my checking, savings and my IMMA with me to a new credit union. Over 23 years they've made a lot of money off of me and the simple facts that: 1.) they can't keep deposits correct, 2.) they think a member has no reason to be upset when DFCU mistakenly removes 2300 dollars and 1800 dollars from the members account and 3.) the fact that they can't even call me or respond to my letter after 23 years of business is UNACCEPTABLE. Shameful really. Management should be fired and replaced with someone who knows and understands customer relations and respects the importance and value of a members money and their long term business. So long DFCU. You and your 5 staff women who all told me I had no reason to be upset can all f*ck off! read more
