This place absolutely ruined my skin. I tried to go about it…read morethe right way and get a referral from my primary care to get my labs done, which tested low and get referred to an endocrinologist. But even with low numbers and being in my mid 30s they refused to see me. So I shopped around and found full potential. My interactions with staff and Dr were fine they tested me and immediately got me started on 200mg weekly injecting 2x per week. My labs came in and they were close to 1500! They kept me on this dose. Everything was fine for the first 5 or so months until my skin absolutely exploded with horrific cystic acne on my shoulders and is slowly spreading to my back and chest. I decided to explain this to my primary care and he took over my treatment immediately cutting my dose in half, I feel mentally or physically no difference being at 100mg weekly. But now I'm stuck seeing a dermatologist monthly, getting extra labs done for them while I'm taking a serious medication called accutane because of the reaction to high testosterone. So be advised they have you on a very hefty dose with very high on the scale numbers. I think going from 135ish-1450ish is completely inappropriate and is just asking for trouble.

So, I never got a response. I called in June to remind her and was told "the doctor was on vacation" blah blah blah. She promised she would show the doctor my inquiry and I'd hear back either way. This didn't happen. That conversation was on June 5th and it is now over a month later. I give up on this practice. How can you be offering "concierge" medicine which is supposed to devote extra time to patients and completely ignore a potential new patient who is willing to jump in and pay the practice MONTHLY whether being seen or not? My best advice for all things OHSU is to get scheduled with Immediate Care if you can help it and…read moreyou are in any pain. They do same day appointments ONLY, so call them as soon as they open. You will find as early as 8:05 am, they will already be booked out to two or three, they are *that busy*. It isnt their fault they are overworked and understaffed, so please try to exercise kindness when you interact with these providers and their assistants. Chances are, if youre stuck waiting to see your PCP, the IC clinic can at least get you started on a referral. They are also awesome at reaching out on MyChart extremely quickly if your issue isnt something they have the facilities to work with, for example there isnt an ultrasound in the Immediate Care clinic so you won't have any luck scheduling for that with them. They are happy to redirect you where you need to go. If you have a negative experience with an operator i PROMISE the clinic wants to know about it, especially if you believe you were being treated unfairly due to being on medicaid or medicare given their strict nondiscrimination policy. But of course my experience is bound to not be universal. There have definitely been times with OHSU generally that i have been frustrated and felt unheard, but the crucial, massively important piece is that *i contacted them about it directly and they made it right!!!* every time! Ive never had a reason to leave a bad review after asking them for help fixing a problem i had. Most of the time miscommunication on their part and/or my own difficulty interpreting tone was to blame, but even when there was a more serious issue, i felt totally safe contacting OHSU to correct it. The one time i felt too insecure to talk to OHSU about it directly, i went through OHP and they completely took care of it on my behalf. They want to help and they want to be aware of those on their staff who don't want to help. I promise you. It isn't perfect. No teaching hospital will ever be perfect. 8/10 times with OHSU as a whole you will be given to a fresh faced resident. But they are almost always willing to own their mistakes and make it better (and their supervising doctors hold them accountable too). I have tried Adventist and I have tried St John, and OHSU is the first place where i dont feel like cattle. I come from a deep red state though and some people talk about this marvelous establishment like its an Oklahoma Urgent Care. Nobody here understands what a utopia this place is with a quality of care i never thought possible. Moving here was like moving to the twilight zone. This is the kind of health care you hear people talking about other, more privileged countries affording their patients. And for most of us ITS FREE. Completely free. Im from multiple minority demographics so i know this isnt some type of conventional privilege being afforded to me, either.

I canceled surgery after meeting with Dr Patrick. I had a series of four sets of shots of PRP (platelet rich plasma) into the shoulder area over next four-five months. After second set began to work with a PT, Dr Caleb Wright, who specializes in PT support for PRP treatments. This was the winning combo. My shoulder is 95% recovered after five months (four sets of shots) and now I will continue to do strength training exercises and get it to 100%.
