Speedway - The price I was charged

Then another employee decided to involve himself in something that was none of his business, and tried to tell me that I was not charged 3.08. When I did not believe him his began yelling at me and threatened to beat me up and drag me out of the store. I am a 63 year old retiree. This man was over 7 foot tall. I will never step one foot in any speedway ever again.

I went to get gas tonight around 1015. I put my card in and selected the fuel grade and everything…read morebut when I put the no el in my car it wouldn't start fueling. It just sat there at 0.00. I pressed the help button several times but no one came out or answered me. I tried tried to cancel the transaction but it wouldn't let me. I put the model back and went to another pump and hoped it would clear out itself if I gave it a minute. I went to another pump and the same thing happened and the first pump did not clear out on its own. I decided to go inside to ask for help. I went up to the door but noticed it was locked and there was a little sign (about the size of my hand) that said the pumps were now closing at 10 on Sundays. I waved to the worker inside so I could get some help clearing out the pumps that already took my credit card and we're now just waiting for someone to pump gas. The worked just yelled NO at me. I tried to explain through the door that I just needed help canceling my transactions so someone else didn't use my card once they opened but he just kept yelling no at me. He finally walked over the door without opening it to yell at me that they were closed. I said I know that now and I just need to cancel my transactions. He just yelled no again I finally just gave up and left. Hopefully they cancel out themselves over night I guess. There was no way to know they were closed from the street or from the pumps. Everything was lit up including the inside of the store. No closed sign on the door or the pumps. Not only did this guy watch me struggling and not let me know what was going on but acted actively mad at me for being there when they were closed even though there is no way I could've known. I wasn't begging him to give me gas after closing or something, I just wanted to cancel my transactions.. but he just yelled at me for no reason and made me feel like I did something wrong. Bad end to a long and stressful day.

From 5 to 1, what a drop. This place has just turned into a disaster. I originally posted about…read moreusing the new Speedy Cafe...every time I go now, it's covered in flies. I stopped eating here long ago. On top of this, they refuse to process your transaction unless you go through this whole donation nonsense. Did you know you're money isn't really a donation to Children's Miracle Network? It's actually a donation to Speedway's bottom line - they write off your donation. And they have a photo of the kid they "sponsor"...the photo hasn't changed in years, I'd be hard pressed to believe he's still a kid. Lastly, and perhaps more importantly, this is one of the most expensive gas stations in the area. If you go south east, you'd be better off getting a Sam's membership and buying there. Southwest, the Admiral station at MLK and Grand River. North? Go to the Speedway or Murphy's in St. Johns. I easily save at least $5 every fill up just by not filling up here.

So on my way home from Grand Rapids, I needed to get gas. I'm a Speedway gal and I didn't want to…read moredrive to far off the expressway for gas. I saw a few signs for this Speedway as I approached the exit and am glad I took the time to pull off and stop here. The place is clean with reasonable gas prices. Tons of space to move around in the parking area and pumps. The pumps are pretty new looking and snazzy. I loved the inside because it was a really nice clean setup. They even had a pizza station! They had a bar area with some stools if you wanted to sit and eat in the store as well. Staff here was pleasant and quick. I would gladly stop here again on my way out of town. Thank you Speedway!

Recently someone whom I love and am close to became incredibly unwell. This led to a relapse on…read moreheroin, and was followed by an OD meant to end their life. After being admitted into a detox center, this person left. A missing persons was put into place with the local police, as well as a welfare check should this person be picked up. I personally called this Speedway knowing this person would frequent the gas station for nearby wi-fi, cigarettes, etc. I also personally contacted workers of this Speedway via social media. I informed the workers of the situation and left NOT ONLY my number, but asked that the police be contacted should this person arise. When the person was found, he was alive and in another gas station bathroom. The police and paramedics who found him took the situation seriously. When everything came to light, it was found out that the evening before the person DID go into the East Michigan Ave, disoriented and high on heroin. Where did the hospital staff and the police (and me) gain this info? From the person who had disappeared telling us. This means the workers at the local Speedway not only interacted with this person, they refused to contact authorities. One worker- Ryan- went out of his way to approach this person and let the person know he was being searched for by his family and girlfriend- but Ryan refused to contact police. This person has said to me, "You expect too much out fo them- they are literally just gas station attendants." With an opiate epidemic where we have all known someone personally or via immediate relationships you would think a group of people would take a situation like this more seriously. Especially with the mental health aspect of the equation. Yet, when I personally spoke to a worker today and expressed how awful it was that no one contacted the police, the worker quite simply stated "Not our responsibility!" No, legally you had no responsibility. Yet ethically and morally you should have had one. Thank God this person was found alive in the bathroom he shot up in the following morning. Because a group of workers who could have helped in a persons disappearance turned the other cheek simply because they didn't feel like doing anything. Their recklessness was immoral, revolting, and dangerous. They likely deserve their pay grade. On top of this, a complaint was attempted through the company web site and one of the workers (Ryan W) interceded and had the nerve to message the person creating the complaint to let them know that it would never get to corporate because Ryan reviews all complaints. This place is a joke, a bad parking lot where drug deals happen. It isn't shocking it was robbed a few months ago, it is littered (and employs) the type of people who don't care about anyone else.

If I could give 100 stars to this place, that is what they would REALLY REALLY deserve. I've been…read moregoing to this place literally none of my life, and never had too many issues, but the fact that I can stop here and fill up a biggie van with CASH is great!!! I moved to Gary Indiana 4 years ago and came home for roughly 1 day to help my father with the details of my mother's passing of the torch. I took his van here to fill it up. I sprinted in pretty sure how much it take. I asked to leave either a $1 bill or my VISA card at the counter with her as security (NOT likely that I'm going to drive off without my debit card OR change from a $1 bill), and the clerk happily agreed. She actually gives me this well thought out response about I have to do this in only 1 transaction! Even when I am parked at the pump FARTHEST to her BACK DOOR, where she can't get a good look at the VAN, and an even better look at the BOWL as I drive away. ABSOLUTELY SATISFACTORY!! This causes me, a chronically healthy person who does pretty well in hot temps to have to make a single trip inside just to get gas! I LOOK FORWARD TO MY NEXT VISIT. I will never skip this place in favor of a gas station and a clerk who actually DOESN'T KNOW what CASH is, AND that EVERYONE is going to fit more than $1 worth of gas into a 'biggie' van to attempt a drive off. . .
