We took our bunny to see Dr. Eva on Dec. 10, 2023 because he pooped one soft pallet-dropping each day for three days in a row before we took him to see the vet. Our bunny did pooped normal pallet-droppings other than the soft ones, and his dropping did appeared to be in a smaller amount. We should have just gave him more high fiber hay and monitored him at home instead of taking him to Dr. Eva, since our other bunny got much better this way without seeing that vet. Dr. Eva recommended that our bunny undergo tests and treatment which included blood work, x-ray; she and her vet-tech told us that the sedative medication that they would use on our bunny (to sedate him so that he would be easier to handle) would not hurt him. We blindly trusted these "professionals" as we were overwhelmed by fear of our bunny getting into GI stasis (the vet surely had strike this fear in us in her words), and we lost our beloved bunny because of the sedative medication they used on him and these unnecessary tests. We should have never trusted Dr. Eva and her technicians! We should have never brought our bunny to Dewinton Pet Hospital! We should have remembered that Dr. Eva had recommended us at the end of April 2023 to trim our bunny's nails by 1/4 inch, and if he bled, she said to just dip his paws in flour or baking soda. What cruel advice it was! We are heart-broken because we were blinded by our fear and left our beloved bunny in these people hands to die. DO NOT bring your bunnies to see Dr. Eva Hadzima in Dewinton Pet Hospital! This vet did not even have the professionalism to talk to us in person herself about the potential danger of the sedative drug and the details about how our little boy bunny died under her care during the tests. Moreover, she report non-factually on our bunny's medical report, things that she said to us in the exam room that day (Dec. 10, 2023) was inconsistent with her report. Maros and Eva are compassionate vets who will always answer my queries, regardless of the time of day or just to calm my anxieties about my animals. I trust this clinic implicitly. The techs are amazing knowledgeable and compassionate. Their pricing is on average with other vets in the city. Their care and compassion is above and beyond any vet that I have used. Had a very good experience bringing our turtle in to see Dr. Eva Hadzima! Very knowledgeable and took the time to explain what we could do to improve the health and longevity of our pets. we took our puppy in for a minor ear infection, the vet did the exam and sold us medication for the ear infection fairly routine (in my opinion) the total bill was $340.00 the vet asked for a follow up exam in 10 days, they never told us there was a charge for the follow up exam. our puppy was fine and we never would have taken her back for a follow up had we known there was going to be an additional charge because she was happy and ALL of her symptoms were now gone. We were very much under the impression that this was a 5 minute follow up "everything is fine" exam and complimentary after already spending $340.00 the week before. the clinic called us to inform us that the follow up visit (that THEY called us to set up) was complete and our puppy was happy and fine and that there was an additional bill of $120.00 for the follow up visit. In my opinion this should have been a 5 minute complimentary service since i saw no need for it and the only reason we went was because they called us recommended it to us and scheduled it. The total charged to me for a routine minor ear infection was $460.00 we feel ripped off. the service was good and they cured my puppy but they were very very expensive, and unclear on the costs to the customer, id recommend looking for a different clinic, 8 months before this i had a much worse ear infection treated at the vet hospital in cranston (6 minutes away) and the total charge for that service was only $135.00 We should have stuck with our original vet clinic (Cranston) we thought we would give these guys a try since they are close to home, due the extremly High pricing we will not use this clinic again. My girlfriend went here to get her hamster put down and had a terrible experience. They didn't tell her the full cost and then were completely unwilling to rectify the situation. They took a long time to reply to her concerns and were extremely poor at communicating. Apparently the staff member said they told her the pricing and that they record all phone calls but when they went to find the recording it "never recorded." She would have sought out other options if she knew what they were going to charge. I would highly suggest anyone looking for a vet go to one of the other more professional practices in the area and not one who would take advantage of a very upset girl in a difficult situation. read more

I want to preface this review with the understanding that finding a vet office that is honest, forthcoming, kind, and not money hungry is extremely difficult and that sometimes going to the vet is just a necessary evil. Spark notes of my experience That being said, Dewinton Pet Hospital in Heritage Pointe has proven to me that they are not worthy of being chosen as your (or my own) veterinary office. Don't get me wrong they treat the animals with due care, but the same cannot be said for the pet's owners or their wallets. If you want to leave your veterinary office feeling as though you are a burden, a neglectful owner and feel robbed, then this is the vet for you. Not worth the drive from Calgary and I am glad I didn't attempt to bring my exotic animals in. There are other veterinary clinics that are much worthier of your time and money. Full Experience My story began with taking in a kitten that I had just acquired from a farm. I knew she would need deworming, shots ect. That first appointment was great, spent a few hundred dollars on the exam/medication and got the news that she was pregnant. I have never bred cats nor wanted to breed my cat because of the cat overpopulation issue, but I was indeed excited. Skip forward to 3 months later and I brought the kittens in for their first shots, health check, and vaccine for the mom. They told me that they were giving me a breeder price and had me sign consent forms for pricing. It was just over $500 dollars but not bad considering there was 5 cats in total. This is where the experience takes a turn for the worst. Two kittens had urinary tract infections, so they could not get the shot (understandable) but I was charged $60 ($120 total) each for the vet check plus the medication. You have to understand that the office charges a flat rate when seeing this many kittens and administering shots to them, except in this case. We later found out that since they needed meds and were sick (did not occupy any more of the doctors time then the other kittens) that their appointment costs more and is no longer at the reduced rate. You would think that being that I am bring all my animals there and have already spent a good amount of money that they would not charge the visit fee for both kittens that were only 10 weeks old. My vet bill was then just shy of $600 (waited 30 minutes just for the bill to be created) and two kittens hadn't even had their shots but I paid for 14 days of medication..... One week later I run out of the medication that was supposed to last 14 days (I paid for 14 day's worth of medication). After the long weekend I book my little pack of animals back in and explain that I ran out of medication half way through treatment. I get to the vet office and explain my case and I am automatically met with passive aggressive behaviour by the primary vet tech, veterinarian and other associate. I as the customer was not right in this case I guess because they insisted that it must have been my error in reducing the amount of medication from the bottle (by spilling or administering it to other cats). They put up a big fight and were downright rude about it, I heard the tech in the back say their cost was $30, but yet even with the confusion they made me pay full price for another bottle. They treated me like I was not worth their time, and I explained to the one girl that I did not appreciate being spoken to so rudely. I work in customer service, so I understand how difficult some days are, but telling me that it has been a long day and continuing to treat me that way is not the way to deal with it. Furthermore, the vet asked if I had the mom spayed and I told her I was getting it done somewhere else for cost saving measures. This was the moment that I felt the most disrespected for she was short with me for the rest of the appointment and treated me as though I was neglecting my animal by not getting it done through her or paying $60 for another round of eye drops. End of story, I paid another $55 dollars for a bottle of medication (as I did for the other) to finish their treatment. I should say that I have had is medication before and it usually comes full. Paid another fee for the kittens to actually get their shots this time and left there feeling demoralized. read more

Horrid. Only yelp is independent I think - all others they remove negative posts. DO NOT bring your animal here. I brought my animal in a year ago with infection issues and life-threatening problems. I was "sold "around $1000 in medical expenses only to be told that the vet had never seen an x-ray like that before. My animals were so unhappy that they stopped eating after that visit. I found the vet to be loud, condescending and aggressive. I had to abandon her treatment as it was harming my pet. I was able to get another year of her until we needed to go back again. This is but did not realize that they had done previous care on my animal as it apparently wasn't in their system. This time around I was charged $800 and opted for less testing. I wanted my animal put out of her misery but the vet said that she must go through home injections before that would be an option. This was Friday. They told me that they would call me within 24 hours to see how things were going and I just discovered today that they emailed me and didn't bother to call. I brought my animal back in today and sadly had to put her down. The vet proceeded to try to charge me an exam fee on top of services to euthanize my pet. After I informed them that I would not be paying for this given the exam was days ago, I then had to go through what I would consider equal to the humans crematorium funeral options. This clinic is just sell sell sell with seemingly no regard to the care of the animals. Then they told me that I cannot be with my pet when she died. When I questioned her on it she became defensive and said "well fine do whatever you want but these are your options." My way or now way essentially. I guess she figured since I had an exotic pet that I wouldn't have an option care and should be partially right but I did have a third option. I had considered the fact that I would have to transport her to another place and risk extended stress on the pet, so I had to agree to the immediate euthanasia. Due to the sickness of my animals at this point and the time she wasted, I was able to find an alternative solution that would be best for the animal so I have to have my per euthanized quickly. The vet didn't even show her face in the room again. She stayed in the back. She seemed really upset when I wouldn't pay them to do the funeral so they made me sign forms, many legal forms, regarding her tiny body. I have never had this treatment in any other vet and I have sadly been through this with other pets but never have I encountered such a cold, heartless vet Motivated by money. It is too bad that this vet assumed that this was the only animal in the house. She has lost all of my business form me and my relatives. The vet also called my animal "IT"" several times. She can't even bother to look at the gender marker. Just like the other reviewer said, I could go on and on but I will leave it at this. DO NOT GO TO THIS VET. read more
