I decided to transfer to Riverwood to begin my sophomore year, and it was one of the best decisions of my life. I owe RHS everything for giving me a great education, getting me into an incredible college, and introducing me to incredible teachers I respect and continue to keep in touch with to this day. This experience is not had by everyone, but it can be for those who make it happen. I enrolled in the IB (International Baccalaureate) Diploma program, and it was so rewardingly challenging that it made college an absolute breeze. After coming form a fairly conservative, white, southern high school, I especially liked how Riverwood was extremely diverse, with a popular ESOL program and students coming in from all over different parts of the city. I definitely cannot speak for all of the teachers there, but the ones I had were unforgettable. They truly were meant to be teachers and saw teaching as their life rather than a way to pay the bills. They were also counselors and friends, and one of my teachers senior year actually took time to assist students with questions about applying to college, what schools they should consider, financial aid routes, etc. After spending 40K a year at a private university in DC, I have yet to contact or keep in touch with even one of my professors there; however, I visit Riverwood once a year and email back and forth with my old teachers every few months or so. Riverwood is far, far from perfect. There's constant chaos in the halls, and I was (and still am when I visit now) pushed around and nearly trampled on every time the bell rang. It definitely does not resemble a private school in the slightest, so don't expect that if you ever walk through the doors. My social experience there was fairly nonexistent, but everyone was awesome and friendly. I also can't speak for any non-nerdy afterschool activities like sports, but I enjoyed every club I was a part of (or presidente of, muchas gracias!). I still wear my high school class ring. This is open 24 hours to graduate students within the J. Mack Robinson College of Business and has everything you need to make your student life better. Vending machines on every floor, private study rooms, public study areas, plush couches and chairs to relax, as well as video capability in almost every classroom that most professors use to record classes for you to review for when you inevitably zone out during a 4 hour+ class. Gotta love that it's in the middle of Buckhead also, so you can head over to the bars after a final to drown your sorrows. The staff and faculty are for the most part friendly and welcoming. The GSU Buckhead Center is the perfect place to take courses to get that degree you'll need to take your career to the next level!

After looking for an OPEN AND CLOSE sign in the Massage Therapy suite, and finding the front doors…read moreto the college open with NO ONE attending the front desk at 11:30 on a Saturday afternoon, I reluctantly open the front door to Suite 1200, and notice CASES of files immediately upon walking into the lobby (a personally identfiable information violation, as customer files should be protected), a gentleman (seated), and two women: one attendant speaking to the gentleman (a client, I assume), and the one I had to deal with. Her: "What do you need?" Me: "Hi, I'd like some info about your massages." Her: "Well, what information, because most of it is right outside the door... (proceeds talking)" I read the prices! I specifically wanted to know 1) If they were open, because there's no SIGN, 2) What KINDS of massages were available, and 3)What I needed to do to schedule an appointment. But the lack of professionalism and rude tone the woman took with me (and I let her know that, btw) was enough for me to turn around and walk right out. Now is that any way to treat a potential client? I don't think so. I wouldn't recommend anyone else come here.

They send out deals every now and then for $25 one hour massages. Can't beat that!! Every now and then I get a massage that is just ok but that happens anywhere you go really. Overall, it's the only place in Atlanta I've stayed loyal to for massages for the past 4 or 5 years.

In addition, being part of several law related clubs and organizations at the University helped me connect with those who had the same interest in the law environment. I went here many years back and returned recently for Alumni Weekend after 20 years out of Atlanta…read more I'm glad to hear that they actually have changed for the better from students, classmates who got into in leadership roles and recall those bad old days too well, staff members and so forth. I attended a number of events and was thrilled to hear the President say they weren't trying to exclude and alienate conservatives from the community + still teach critical thinking skills (one of the positive aspects of my time there). Gone are the good ol' boys and now diversity (including being a first generation student) actually seems to be considered and appreciated where that wasn't my experience. The bad old days were so bad I had nothing to do with the school for about 10 years due to the presence and protection towards a group I found loathsome (and would be completely inappropriate in our modern times just as it was 20 years ago). Since my most recent visit, I can say with pride that I went to this school and am proud of my classmates for stepping up and being change so others don't have to go through what I'm sure some of them did.

Had me up at 7 am on Wednesday on a cold November day to sign up for classes. I am on ten standby…read morelists. I couldn't get in to a single one. It took 15 minutes of loading to get into a standby lists. This is absurd and I'm just disappointed in the infrastructure of this historic university.

The curriculum setup is nice. They offer 4hr classes everyday of the week. The students attend one class per week. Also, there are plenty of majors to choose from. If only my loans were paid off lol.... At least I tried...
