When my husband and I honeymooned on the Isle of Man, we stayed in the Devonian Hotel. It has a great location. We took the Steam Packet in from Belfast and walked from the Sea Terminal with our roller bags in tow. We got a great overview of the main drag and the sea along the way, and the hotel is close to all the downtown attractions like the Villa Marina, Gaiety Theatre, beach, shopping, and restaurants. When we arrived, we were greeted warmly by Kevin, who runs the place with wife Gillian. He gave us the front door passcode and our room key. The building is a converted Victorian, so the stairs up were a little steep. Our room looked exactly like it did on their website. It was bright, cozy, clean, and comfortable. Our bathroom was ensuite and featured a shower. A cooked to order breakfast was included in their reasonable nightly rate, and it was served in their bright and sunny dining room overseen by Gillian. Servings were so hearty, we often only needed a snack for lunch to tide us over until dinner. During our stay, the Devonian was fully booked almost every night (due to a train enthusiast's convention), so I would recommend making your reservations in advance. They only accept cash or check for payment in person, but we paid with our credit card via their website. On our last day, Kevin booked our taxi to the airport for a fixed rate. If we return to the Isle, we definitely would stay here again. read more
