Breakfast was magnificent, full on English and Vegan Sausages available if you ask. Lovely view through the window to the beach. All staff were friendly, polite and chipper. Location next to Gaiety and the end of the Stand is excellent. Sir Norman sits on a bench awaiting you on the front porch.

Lots of help from people on the bus! Thank you all! Our room on the back of the hotel was lovely, quiet, and we had the best sleep of our week's vacation. And the shower was wonderful. The thing you don't know about is the basket of wonderful pastry left in your room. Everything is baked in the hotel kitchen and is replenished daily. We asked for extras to take with us for our very early morning departure and they happily accommodated us. We didn't eat in the hotel so I can't say how that was but judging from the pastry it must be good. There's a small bar in the hotel and we were able to take a couple of beers up to our room to enjoy. My only trepidation was everyone was so laid back that I worried if our early morning taxi ride call was made. Silly me! I think I need to go back.

Surely it deserves a higher rating. It is an older hotel and probably needs a paint job, but there is a great historical feel to the place. After an extensive search, researching all the hotels and bed and breakfasts on the Isle of Man, we decided Port Erin would be the most ideal place to stay. Douglas was a bit too busy, Port Erin was a nice and relaxed seaside town and best of all, it was right at the end of the steam train line. The hotel is only a block past the train station. The location is directly in the middle of the Port Erin Bay. Perfect for getting down to the beach. We stayed in room 1, which is on the first floor above the bar area. I would highly recommend this room as it has breathtaking waterfront views of Port Erin Harbour and is on the corner so you get the views from the side as well. This room had a huge bathroom and despite being a one bedroom also had this smaller little walk-in closet sized room with an extra single bed and a window. It was perfect for our small son staying with us. There was some noise from being directly over the bar, but even on a Saturday night, it didn't go too late. Service was great and all of those I encountered from the bartender, to the breakfast server, maintenance and the front desk people were all especially friendly. The breakfast which was included in served buffet style and has all the regular English breakfast items (eggs, black and white pudding, bacon, sausage, potato cakes as well as toast, cereals, yogurt and multiple juices). I have recommended this hotel to quite a few friends and encouraged visits to the Island based on a great stay which I had.

We were ordering when another two people came in, and they were told by the lovely (in appearance, not demeanor) waitress who worked at the counter to sit down and she will bring them menus. We sat at our table for 20 mins and received and finished our appetizer while they sat getting upset that she never did bring them their menus. I asked my partner if it would be odd if I went and brought the two bored and frustrated folks some menus (I knew where they were and had grabbed some on my own for us when we came in as no one was around), and he said, yes, that would be odd, so I didn't, haha. The large group next to us have also just received their meals (after they also asked for menus several times and eventually grabbed their own) and they came in a half hour after us. We had also asked for water. Never got it. So an hour here and no one to check on us, bring us a glass of water, and let us know that our order was at least in the often. Will update when/if we get our food.

We took the Steam Packet in from Belfast and walked from the Sea Terminal with our roller bags in tow. We got a great overview of the main drag and the sea along the way, and the hotel is close to all the downtown attractions like the Villa Marina, Gaiety Theatre, beach, shopping, and restaurants. When we arrived, we were greeted warmly by Kevin, who runs the place with wife Gillian. He gave us the front door passcode and our room key. The building is a converted Victorian, so the stairs up were a little steep. Our room looked exactly like it did on their website. It was bright, cozy, clean, and comfortable. Our bathroom was ensuite and featured a shower. A cooked to order breakfast was included in their reasonable nightly rate, and it was served in their bright and sunny dining room overseen by Gillian. Servings were so hearty, we often only needed a snack for lunch to tide us over until dinner. During our stay, the Devonian was fully booked almost every night (due to a train enthusiast's convention), so I would recommend making your reservations in advance. They only accept cash or check for payment in person, but we paid with our credit card via their website. On our last day, Kevin booked our taxi to the airport for a fixed rate. If we return to the Isle, we definitely would stay here again.

Close to 200 miles it 'tis, and a fine hike that's famed world wide. Don't believe me? I quaffed a couple of fine English pints here this evening with people from Australia, France and the U.S. (myself included). We're all starting the hike tomorrow. But I digress. A fine pub area, suitable selection of fine English ales and a few favorites like Guinness and Stella Artois on tap. Friendly bartender, and the food... wow. Had the steak and ale pie with a vegetable puree (turnips?) and cabbage that was heavenly. And I think it's no coincidence that this is the pub everyone seeks out before they start the hike because as you know, getting this much exercise, the body needs hydration! Yea, that's what it is... hydration. We're preparing our bodies (and minds) for the task at hand. Manor House, keep the taps flowing. I may be back to do this walk again next year and I can't think of a finer way for it to start than with a pint or two and some good company in your pub. Well done, well done.

Raymond's B&B is situated in a Victorian home on Hutcherson Park, the owners have set up two guest rooms with a lovely lounge equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay. There are stairs so not accessible for those with mobility issues. But it is near the Douglas Promenade an awesome place for a morning run or walk. Our cousins stayed in the larger room which seemed equivalent to a USA queen. As is the case in older lodging the toilet is in a separate room however the walk-in shower and separate tub are top notch. The owner Lorraine prepares a full made to order English breakfast with jams, home made bread, fruit, yogurt, tea and coffee. She truly cares about her guests.

It is a long established hotel which was once owned by Trust House Forte prior to it being taken over by the McMillan family in the early 80's. It is 70 bedrooms which are all tastefully decorated, a 15 metre pool and an 18 hole golf course. This is a quaint hotel that seems lost in a bygone age which is not necessarily a bad thing. I enjoyed sitting in one of the lounges taking tea and there are many others that do too. Although children are allowed here there are not a lot of them so there is a tranquil atmosphere. Even the guests that stay for the golf seem to have a bit more reserve than some others I have come across. The hotel offers a good base to explore the area which is a great touristy destination in the summer. Point to note the hotel closes after Hogmanay and reopens completely in the first week of March although weekend breaks may be available during January and February.
