I've tried several therapists during a time of severe, constant pain. Out of desperation, I kept going from one person to another, every time I left a session without feeling any better than when I felt going in. Devon was the only one who was able to provide a quick and significant reduction in pain from the very first session. I had a noticeable increase in my range of motion which he told me upfront that he'd be very surprised if I didn't get at least that. In fact, he was the only one who had the confidence to tell me that I would feel better before I left, whereas the others I tried, just said "they hope so and that was the goal, but everyone is different@ is what I essentially would get told. Devon was different. He had a confidence in what he was doing and knew his skill well enough to be so confident in his response to my question or does he think he'd be able to reduce the pain and increase my range of motion. His approach was unlike anyone else. It wasn't painful like the others. There was some pain involved but nothing like m the kind you feel when someone does deep tissue and they're really digging in. It was tolerable and very quickly resulted in relief. It was like magic the way he worked on me and was able to quickly create a release in a gentle way. I don't know how else to describe it honestly. It blows me away because I've never seen anyone with this kind of understanding of the body. Anyway, I can't say enough. Oh! Another thing that took me by surprise is how he wasn't trying to sell me on a package or multiple visits. Everyone I've gone to struggled to tell how effective their session would be and instead, they'd assume and tell me upfront that they'd have to see how many sessions I need to get things under control and that we'll just have to go with the flow and see how I do after each session. In their defense, assuming the best of intentions, they probably didn't know because they are providing out of the box traditional training for massage therapy which generally requires multiple sessions over a few weeks. The problem with that is your body will probably heal on its own over a few weeks anyway. So I don't see the value in that prolonged approach. With Devon, when I was done, I had to ask him when he needs to see me again, he said I shouldn't have to come back and see him. But in case I unexpectedly needed to, he let me know what was his next available appointment. He was that confident. He went into it with the best intentions knowing that with my particular condition, he could likely take care of my needs from the first visit. I instantly realized why he's so busy. He's the most trustworthy and effective guy I've ever ran across. I really can't say enough. He's worth his weight in gold! Thanks so much Devon! read more

I have been receiving, and giving body work for twenty years, and this This is some of the best work that I have received. And I am extremely picky and particular about who I choose to use as a body worker since I work in the field myself. I was experiencing intense neck pain when turning my head as well as wrist pain and tightness from a scapholunate ligament tear.  As well as and some overall muscle soreness from working out, and trouble falling asleep. After only one session though, the next day I was able to turn my head without any tightness or pain and to put pressure on my wrist without pain or soreness also.  Functionally, I was even able to do skull crushers with weights and tricep front bar presses without pain in my wrists, which I haven't been able to do in over a year without sharp pain and my wrists completely failing on me. And my sleep has improved and anxiety decreased as well. Devon's calm and peaceful energy in itself is very relaxing and soothing, and his knowledge of the body and application of Shiatsu acupressure points and Chinese medicine is unique and incredible.  I would highly recommend him and Tao Health Clinic to anyone for relief from pain or in need of healing. read more

It's hard for me to put into words how much Devon has helped me over the past five years. I had a friend tell him about me when my back pain was so bad it hurt to stand up after bending over. This was after having my second child and it made it very hard to take care of a new baby and a toddler. Luckily I found out about Devon and he knew exactly what was going on and how to help me. He is amazing and not only for me but I know many people who go to him anytime they have pain in their body. I developed a painful Tennis Elbow (lateral epicondylitis) condition and it got progressively worse to the point it was very painful to pick up a cup of coffee. I had heard good things about Tao Health Clinic and decided to to give them a try. Everything I read about Tennis Elbow told me it would be a long, painful path to recovery. I booked an appointment online and saw Devon. To my utter SHOCK -- after 3 months of pain -- he basically worked a miracle. I walked out feeling amazingly better, and woke up the next morning with a fraction of the pain I had previously encountered. I followed his advice and within a couple of days, I had a dramatic recovery... pain went from an "8" to a "2" after months of worsening. A week later, it was negligible, and I resumed my weight lifting regimen. Prior to seeing these guys, I couldn't lift my laptop. Devon took the time to not only work on my affected area, but to patiently and thoroughly explain the physiology behind the injury. Very thankful for these guys and HIGHLY recommend them. Dixie and Devon Hornby are practitioners here, and they are both amazing. Dixie specializes in acupuncture, and not only is she incredibly educated and skillful about her practice, she is also gentle, kind, and completely invested in her patients' health and well-being. I've been a patient of hers for about a year now, and I can't recommend her highly enough. Devon specializes in body work. I was having unexplained pain in my pregnancy, and medications, massage, and every other possible treatment had failed me. Devon's years of study are very apparent -- he located the problem, approached it carefully and yet without reservation, and with his help, combined with Dixie's acupuncture treatments, I felt almost immediate relief. Beyond the skill and conscientious care that both Dixie and Devon provide, they are also extremely flexible with their time, often accommodating patients outside regular business hours just to make sure their problems are tended to. While this might mean you may wait a bit for your appointment, when it's your turn, you will be amazed at the level of concern and care you receive. I developed a tennis elbow while playing a match 6 months ago, against a player who hit with a lot of top spin. I searched the web for possible solutions and tried most of them: exercises with multi-colored Theraband Flex bars, Elbow braces, Sports massages, Ice & cold packs, stretches, months of Physical Therapy as well as 2+ months off not only from tennis but limiting weight on the affected hand. Unfortunately none of these worked. The on going pain and lack of exercise made me to search for "tennis elbow" on Yelp where I found a reviewer who had been helped by Devon Hornby. I reached out to Devon and described my problem. Not only was Devon able to fix my tennis elbow, he did it in just two 30 minute massage sessions! I can't recommend Devon highly enough! Like another reviewer, I was experiencing persistent tennis elbow and NOTHING was helping! Ice, cortisone shots, exercises, rest...the pain would not go away. I have been a client of Dixie's for about 3 months now. I'm going through the IVF process and my doctor highly recommended acupuncture & Dixie. She specializes in this type of stuff. Anyway, she's great and my progress is wonderful! She's the best acupuncturist I've ever been too and she cares about every aspect. No amount of 5 star reviews can illustrate how talented Devon is. It's something you have to experience first hand. I haven't ever worked with Dixie, but Devon specializes in bodywork. I lived with a nagging shoulder/neck injury for nearly 10 years. I'd tried Physical Therapy, acupuncture, weight training, chiropractors... you name it. With just a few visits with Devon, I was almost completely back to normal. After the first visit, the pain got slightly worse before subsiding substantially. So if you're working with him to overcome a problem or get past a chronic injury, don't be alarmed. The body's healing process is a funny thing. My second visit, weeks later, alleviated the rest of the problem very quickly. Devon's knowledge and technical background is amazing (check out his bio on his website), but more importantly, he's a natural healer. My feeling was that his work was part objective, whole body problem solving and part intuitive work centered through his connectedness and focus on your energy. If that sounds a bit esoteric and fuzzy, I can't help it... the man has a gift. Moreover, I never felt tense or anxious with him as I did with other practitioners. His compassion is palpable. His services aren't cheap, but there's no one I'd trust more. read more

What can I say? In a city that has so many options for acupuncture, and several really great ones- it can be hard to decide where to go. Dixie is really wonderful! Very kind, compassionate, patient. I felt like she really took a genuine interest in me and what I needed help with. It was so refreshing to see someone who has dedicated their life to learning about holistic health and making it as widely available as possible for others. I feel like now I have another cheerleader in my corner to make our next baby!! :) Just by doing our initial intake consult and proceeding with the appointment, I could tell she was able to get a REALLY great sense for who I was, why my body does the things it does, and what I need. She's in business with her husband, and he is also incredibly kind. They are both just so knowledgeable and helpful! After yesterday's session and beginning some Chinese herbs, I felt a great sense of calm and relaxation. I have total faith in her and the healing properties of these treatments and herbs.
