When we met with the doctor, I was far from impressed and so was my husband. The doctor was in and out of the room in about five minutes. He checked my husbands knee and then told him there wasn't anything he could do and stick with his doctor.

First, this doctor couldn't get my medicine history straight. He kept trying to put my current meds as my initial meds, no matter how many times I told him. I brought a write-up of what happened with the injury, and I wrote it up on their form, and he asked me what happened and started writing it down. Why did I have to write it if he needed to? Second, he told me if the physical therapy didn't work, he'd offer an epidural shot in my spine and that that would "cure" the problem. After extensive research, not only does it not "cure" the problem, most often it doesn't provide any relief and then it can only provide relief from 1 day to a year. It also comes with serious side affects and the possibility of permanent paralysis. Telling a patient that something will "cure" an issue when it clearly will not is opening yourself up for a mal-practice suit. Third, He seriously downplayed my injury, claiming it was pre-existing. While, and not knowing until this point, some may have been pre-existing, I did not have any issue with my back until I was injured at work, even having a bone density scan prior and them telling me my back and hips were perfect with no arthritis or issues whatsoever. This doctor completely ignored my hip issues (pinched sciatic) - said it was just minor residual pain (MINOR?? I can't hardly walk!) - and would not explain the x-rays or MRI. I came in with a cane. I had a witness in with me. They also had signs everywhere of all their extra charges, which I have never seen in a doctor's office in all my years. I will say, the front staff and the lady taking my x-ray were very nice and helpful. As it stands now, I cannot work in my current field and have to find different and lesser paying employment to accommodate my injury. I don't care what religion or faith you are. Keep your religion and your professional practice separate! Take your patients seriously! The insurance people won't write a review but your patients will!

Now known as Prisma USC Orthopedic. I wish it was possible…read moreto give this practice a ZERO. After breaking my leg and being taken to the ER at Parkridge, I had the misfortune of being seen by Dr. Jeffrey Guy who is part of this practice. He was condescending and dismissive of me and my injury. He actually said to me "There's really nothing medically wrong with you" despite the fact that I had a hairline fracture of my right tibia and LITERALLY COULD NOT WALK! I spent 5 days in Parkridge then was transferred to Encompass Rehab Hospital where I underwent intense physical and occupational therapy (but there was NOTHING wrong with me, right Dr. Guy?!). I thought the ugliness of Dr. Guy was behind me, but I was so wrong. Encompass insisted that I should follow up with Dr. Guy despite the fact he did absolutely NO TREATMENT to/for me. I insisted they make an appointment with ANY OTHER doctor in that practice. Long story short, this practice refused to see me for a follow-up appointment! The case manager at Encompass began trying to get me an appointment shortly after I was admitted on April 13th, but by the time I was discharged on the 24th, I still didn't have an appointment. The case manager continued calling them for about 2 weeks after my discharge, and after putting her off with incorrect claims about my insurance, they just stopped returning her calls altogether. I DESPERATELY needed to see a doctor about my injury, and THIS PRACTICE REFUSED TO SEE ME! Out of desperation, I went to their afilliated walk-in clinic (at the recommendation of the Encompass case manager). Not surprisingly, I was turned away from there as well. I was told that the manager of the main practice office, Ashley Thomas, would call me about getting me an appointment at this practice. OF COURSE, THAT NEVER HAPPENED. Dr. Jeffrey Guy and this USC Orthopedic practice is, without a doubt, the WORST EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD WITH ANY MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL. (And I have many years of experience with various physicians/specialists.) My physical recovery has been delayed, and the frustration and stress I have experienced has had a profound effect on my mental health. If there was any way in this world that I could retain an attorney, I would bring malpractice claims against this medical practice.

She gave me 1 flexeril a day for my pain. I fired her and went to Lexington Orthapedics. They actually listened to me and took an xray. Guess what? I've had very positive interactions with both Dr. Mazoue and PA Malvasio for workout-related…read moreissues. As a female patient, I especially liked working with the PA (who is female) but both health practitioners are outstanding and know their stuff. I usually recommend going to physical therapy first for orthopedic problems (I love Vertex PT), but when you need something more to resolve injuries/problems, this practice is a great health resource. Highly recommend!

I'm still cheesed off about the problems I experienced when I treated here. I was referred from…read morethe student health center. I think I was misdiagnosed. They kept giving me treatment for plantar fascitis - which usually hurts in the back of your foot - at the heel. My pain was at the front in my toes. I sure didn't feel like anyone was listening because the diagnosis never changed. I kept complaining. $1200 later on a student budget of student loans to pay my bills, I still didn't have a proper diagnosis. Not only that, they forgot to tell me that nothing was covered by the medical insurance policy I was forced to buy while I was at the university. For me, going there was a complete waste of time and money.\ back in 2003. If I lived in the area, I would not go there if I could help it. Or maybe I would be a more demanding patient to make darn sure my concerns are actually listened to. This is a very real problem in the medical world. Just because someone is a doctor doesn't mean they are a good or caring one. I don't think they were good or caring here. Perhaps if you are a student athlete, you get better treatment. I was just a female trying to exercise and lose some weight.

Don't be suckered in by all the "Fellowship" lingo on their webpage. I lost the lottery when I had Dr. Gross do a Birmingham-style hip replacement. Due to his surgical misadventure, it took me years to walk again with some semblance of normalcy - he severed a key nerve in my leg, which a board certified neurologist determined that the nerve was fully entrapped some 12 years after he wrecked my life - I previously ran marathons. He had the audacity to bill me extra to cover the fees of his "assistant". He told me during my seven-day stay in the awful Sister's of Charity hospital laying in mixture of blood and puss with my scrotum swelling to over grapefruit-size and turning black that he canceled his vacation to be with me - in reality he was in court as as one of three defendants being sued for $30 million for the wrongful medical/surgical death of a colleague. Clearly, his mind was not on this patient's health while the court action was pending. He should quit medicine, fix his pompous website and perhaps try something less harmful to his fellow humans, like manual ditch digging.
